"Where can I get a commitment edit from?"
That question got a laugh from the college coach who had been working the past two months to secure a verbal. It's how Keonta Jenkins subtly broke the news to Justin Hamilton that he was ready to end his recruitment in favor of the Hokies. Jenkins had already decided on Virginia Tech days in advance, and all that was left was to announce his choice.
"The day of my commitment, I felt like I was ready," said Jenkins. "It was time to get a little burden off, a weight off my shoulders and get that off my chest. Now that I am committed, I can just have a smooth season without any recruitment issues."
Hamilton did the yeoman's work to secure his pledge, but fellow Jacksonville native, and newly declared starting nickel, Chamarri Conner provided a player's endorsement of the program.
