The Virginia Tech offense struggled down the stretch of the 2017 season. As the Hokies' offense sputtered through November, there were critical moments when the offense was on schedule and failed to convert a makeable third- or fourth-down. I re-watched the film and investigated whether those struggles were a product of predictable play calling, poor execution, excellent defensive play, or a mix of all three.

Bread and Butter goes Stale

Going back to their tenure at Memphis, Justin Fuente and Brad Cornelsen established their fondness for quarterback power off jet sweep motion. The play is their primary bread and butter short-yardage run play.
