Challenge: Maroon Effect at JPJ

It's no secret that we pack Scott Stadium every other year, but we haven't had the same success taking over JPJ. Tickets are expensive and it's tough to travel to a basketball game on a weeknight. And give them credit - they might not show up for any football games but they do love their basketball team and they show up and support them. It's a loud, hostile environment.

I bought my tickets this week for our January 15 contest with the Hoos. That's a Tuesday night. Tip is at 8:00pm. There are currently plenty of reasonably-priced tickets on StubHub. You can get in the door for about $30 (before taxes/fees, of course). I'm sure the prices will go up over the next few weeks as people shift into basketball mode and see an enticing matchup of two ranked rivals on the horizon.

If you're able to make it, I challenge you all to fill up JPJ with maroon. It will be impossible for us to fill up the lower level because those ticket prices are ridiculous (starting at $400 a piece on StubHub... don't do this). So, it won't look like it's packed full of Hokies on TV. But we can make it sound like it. We can fill the upper levels with loud Tech fans and frustrate their fans the same way Ohio State and Clemson fans frustrated us in Lane. It drives me crazy watching my team struggle and listening to opposing fans take over our home stadium. We have an opportunity to do that to the people who deserve it most.

Go on StubHub and get a cheap ticket. Just get in the building and be loud.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.
