Nothing particularly insightful here, mostly surface level stuff, but I always like sharing anything where the 'national media' is covering us (given that it happens so infrequently these days).

I am not pleased with the quantity of "'weird things'" that happened to us last year.
FIFY
That play will forever be seared into my mind. We were right above that play and when the flag came out we were excited b/c we were going to benefit from a bad call (remember the dozen "not enough men on the LOS" calls in the first quarter of that game?).
And then they called offensive PI. Worst call ever. Changed the complexity of the game.
You obviously do not understand, we were the ONLY school affected by COVID...
Devon Hunter never got on the field in 3 years, yet he was gonna be a huge piece last year? in a team that plays 80% dime defense now? Overstated.
I'm dubious as to the degree of impact he would have made but he was going to start at a position we had to move people around to fill in his absence.
Maybe devon Hunter could have helped in the UNC game. 9 yards a carry, I would have put him on the line of scrimmage. Listening to the podcast made me throw up a little bit when they talked about UNC leaving tire tracks on our defensive players backs.
They did, though. Unfortunately.
Nickle? Cause I must not be paying attention if we were in dime that much.
Only in the Justin Fuente Era is getting your assed kicked at home by Duke in every phase of the game because you were unprepared called "weird". LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Duke kicked our asses- from the opening whistle. That's not weird, that's sucking at coaching.
That was 2 years ago...but still
what have you done for me lately..oh yeah we had a losing record
That's the only VT game I didn't watch in almost a decade. I was in Athens (Greece) and had to make the choice between staying up, knowing we had a full day ahead with a morning start, or get some sleep. I'm very glad I chose to get some sleep...
wow now it's obvious why we lost, thanks a lot chris
If I were a betting man, I was going to expect the Liberty reference. The Duke pull is still a good one though...
I remember us playing well on defense for the first two series (looked awesome) and then the wheels completely fell off.
Who is Andy Staples and why should I think he has any real insight into the VT program?
He's a 12 year SI college football writer, now in his second or third year writing for The Athletic.
He has credibility.
did the Athletic just go and hire every sportswriter named Andy a couple years ago for the hell of it?
He is one of the main national college football writers for The Athletic . It's his job to follow college football.
