Bob Schick is married 2018 high school grad who did a Mormon Mission after High School. Still has 5 years of eligibility. Will be playing his last JUCO game in coming days.

Welcome aboard Mr. Schick
Are we getting a cutting edge player with Mr. Schick?
Secured him on razor thin margins!
Leg for THE BAD GUYπ
Lol we'll have the oldest OL in the ACC!
Does Chung have any eligibility left?
Which one? Eugene has been pretty fired up lately. Let's bring him back, and we'll have the oldest OL ever assembled in D1 history!
This tweet about Snow College OLine had me jacked about this pickup:
Bobby Schicker
Where is he? I don't know, I don't know
I didn't know we were byuπ€π
Maybe that will be a viable pipeline, get them a few years older and more experienced and then see what we can do with them...
This is an accurate point. Snow College pretty much feeds BYU JUCO talent and has for decades.
When my son played at the USAFA he played them his first year while at the USAFA Prep School. That was the first game during parents weekend so we saw the game. The OL was HUGE! The Academy team was faster, but the Badgers entire team were so big they wore them down and won handily in the 4th quarter.
Let's just make taking these guys another way we can hate on Bronco.
By the time he graduates, he is going to have old man strength. I like this.
That's a big guy that can move. Real potential here I can see him as a multi year starter TBH.
I honestly couldn't care less about any of our OL's recruiting rankings, where they come from or how they get to VT. At this point I really trust Vice and his evaluations of incoming talent. Happy to have this young man aboard!
Vice has certainly proven to be a bright spot on this coaching staff. The OL has been one of the only strengths the last couple years. I am curious how he manages the OL in 2021 given all the departures we had. I doubt if it'll be quite as dominant as it was in 2020 but if it's even 70% as good it'll still be pretty solid. I think it's something to build around. I hope Blackshear breaks through and proves to be a real threat on the ground. That will, hopefully, open things up for BB (though, this offense wasn't truly able to capitalize on Herbert's threat to run in 2020 so we'll see)
We could be 70% of last year and still be top 5 VT OL of the 21 century
Vance Vice basically has a Doctorate of Education. I don't know if he uses that in his evaluations, coaching, all of it or none of it - but I'm with you. Even if this is just a late addition, I don't think we're taking him without some kind of plan in place by Vice.
Basically a doctorate? Is that what they call masters degrees these days?
I'm not being critical of Vice or his degrees at all, but rather the notion that a masters degree is basically a doctoral degree (or even a EdD is basically a PhD Education for that matter).
I thought I read he multiple masters, including an education specialist masters which was described as similar academic rigor to an EdD without the research component. I was also a few sheets to the wind when I wrote that, and fairly surprised I even included a link.
Yes, he has multiple post-graduate degrees. It's why I mentioned I wasn't being critical of his degrees...plural.
I would think the Masters Specialist is similar in rigor to EdD...that why I mentioned the EdD not being similar to a PhD in Education.
Our O-line is gonna be so s(ch)ick, bro.
I like this pickup, In the late 90's we had Joe Marchant on the line also from Utah, he was my Classmate. I believe he was already around 25 at that time after finishing up his mission. The maturity could be a great positive and someone that could potentially come in and play right away or just be a year away.
Sounds like a great addition to me! Maybe his maturity can calm Hoffman down a bit? I got so tried with those dumb/immature penalties.
He will be playing against Hutchinson Community College in the NJCAA National Championship game on June 5th. The game will be on CBS Sports Network at 5 EST. Hutchinson is a powerhouse that churns out both coaches and players every year. Should be a good one.
Per Mike N with Roanoke Times, we might be adding another OL transfer.
Nut punch gif time?
Care to elaborate?
There was a Morman OL from BYU who did this:
I could be way off since I am not a mormon, but I am thinking that may be more of a Bronco or BYU thing than a mormon thing.
Ah my confusion was in the vague comment. I took it as he decided to decommit
Here's his HUDL. I'm no French so I'll refrain from commenting on his film.
You have to love 5 years eligibility. That is key.
If he does well AND stays for 5 years will be the key.
.
Too many of our players have left (transferred or gone pro or discipline related departures or injury related loss) before their eligibility was used up and that has hurt the team. I don't blame someone for reaching for "the golden ring" because football is an especially risky game to play, but, boy, do I miss the time when players could be counted on to stay with a team their entire college career.
If he leaves early to go to the league, I'm quite okay with it. If he transfers, we'll continue the endless debate about if it's Fuente's fault or circumstances out of his control.
Bump. He's now playing on CBS Sports Network! Tune in.
