This is my 2nd post about a ridiculous coloring of one's field today: Coastal's field makes me feel like I'm watching the front half of the Andy Griffith Show.

Just switched over and WTF is this??? I go into my first commercial and there's no spurtle or ANY Bell and Howell products. Instead I get this cheap knockoff BattleVission glasses by AtomicBeam.

The special teams coach for KU needs to be fired. This team can't block worth a damn on ANY ST play. Also that last kick shouldn't have happened - should have been a false start on the PK.

I dunno, most of my disdain for Pitt is rooted in losing to them 874398574398 times in a row, and *checks notes* Chris Bickell '97 Head Football Chode Coach Pat Narduzzi.
My disdain for Tennessee is much further-reaching.

Bucks vs Ducks looks like it's going to go down to the wire. Oregon is down a couple important starters (Thibodeaux). But they came in ready for this game, and just scored first.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The top PAC-12 teams have been fairly overrated for quite a few years now. I chose OSU in the pick em just assuming they wouldn't be able to hang. I was wrong.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The ! would tend to imply that I was excited about what I said. No one on this board is rooting against Shane. But he also is very unlikely to come here. Blazing his own trail.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Boston College is handling UMass okay but they lost both their starting QB (Jurkovic) and best WR (Tay Flowers). Neither look like season ending injuries.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I love electric too but the cowbells aren't passion, they are just lazy. Ole Miss fans should bring air horns to the Egg Bowl just to get artificial noise makers banned.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah, maybe. I'm still not feeling great about next week. Best thing to do on the road is score early and often. I would have loved to see that today. I don't think our team is "built" to do that
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I mean, I feel you (can't help but not feel you tbh) but i watched a good bit of that game and as an extremely pedestrian film reviewer: i wasn't all that impressed by WVU. i don't think there are that many weapons that we'd be overmatch just on scheme.
sure they handled them but it wasn't like they did whatever they wanted. i think our D could be the difference (as it should be).
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I've been multiple times, its not that bad. The stupid Dan Mullen videos explaining when they can cowbell are much more annoying, though they probably got rid of those.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Texas, not back. Notre dame, not back. Miami, not back. OU almost losing to Tulane, OSU loses, tAMu almost loses. SEC punching the air right now wishing they invited CCU and Cincy instead.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Glad we won, because I'm bummed at Iowa State losing to Iowa. They can never seem to beat Iowa. The rivalry is like VT-Virginia but in the wrong direction.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Louisville with a 95yard td reception...and the receiver dropped the ball and the 2yd line after running a billion yards after the catch. Just watch sportscenter tomorrow morning...it'll be on there. Ridiculously stupid move.

Miami struggled mightily, NC State looking rough against Miss State, FSU is up only 14-7 against Jacksonville State late in the 3rd. ND even survived a close one against Toledo today.
Also love seeing Texas getting ran over by Arkansas. Welcome to the SEC, Horns.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Based on scores I tried watching the Texas State (clear eyes and all that) v. FIU game but its baaaaad. switched to Memphis ArkSt and i've been pretty entertained.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
This is what it feels like to be a Virginia Tech football fan watching our games after we go up by two touchdowns, just hanging on for dear life the remaining three quarters, and ultimately winning when the defense bails us out.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Was coming here to post about this.. We were listening to the Miami game on the way home from Blacksburg and they kept talking about the cat. Of course we had to find the video when we got to the house. How did the cat end up on the upper deck anyways?? Was someone like "Oh I wonder if my cat likes football? I should take him to the game." "Oh crap! Kittyyyyyyyyyyy!!!! Noooooooo!'
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I didn't know how to feel watching the Miami/App State game. On the one side of the coin, my heart felt glee every time App State got one over on Miami. On the other side of the coin, my brain felt dread over yet another ACC loss to a G5 school that we should have beaten.
That said, during the on field interview after the game it looked like Manny Diaz had done ALL the cocaine. Dear god he was all over the place.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
IDK if I'm more mad about the defensive play call or complete lack of effort from the back half of the defense on this play. It's embarrassing and I'm not an FSU fan
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I've always wondered what schools like VT, Wisconsin, Iowa, etc could do if they got recruits at the level of a Texas, FSU, Miami, etc. Those groups of schools tell two very different stories in terms of recruiting vs player development. The Texas' of the world waste more talent than almost any other program in the country
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Years ago some coach was being interviewed about recruiting and he said what a hard job recruiting was because there are only a handful of guys that can help your team immediately. So it comes down to projecting how a player develops which is super hard to compare recruits from Texas because often they have weight rooms and nutrition programs like a lot of college. So often a Texas 4* is over rated because they're closer to their peak, while on the other hand there are a number of recruits that don't get 3 meals a day and don't really have places to train and they thrive once they get into a better situation.
Long story short, some of those Texas recruits don't improve so Texas's recruiting classes might be overrated.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Very interesting point. So if that is largely true then the idea of being the best program for player development is indeed a reasonable plan to close the gap between us and the perennial top 10 ranked recruiting programs.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Interesting point, but I blame it coaching . I think Sark is going to get the program going but he still weds to get his recruits in / change the mentality and get players buy into the system that are currently there .

FSU fans likely going to start barking at Norvell. They have looked downright bad at times, and many questionable coaching decisions. They look like they have speed and talent but no cohesion at all with what they are trying to do on the field.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I feel so good about our win today after seeing some of the struggles out there today... can be easy to get wrapped up in the X's and O's and forget about the W's and L's
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Just looked at FSU's remaining schedule. They might have a shot wins against UMASS and Syracuse. I think Wake is going to clean their clocks this weekend.
Does Norvell get fired at the end of year 2 if the Noles go 2-10 (or worse)?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Norvell will likely get one more year because FSU will still probably win 4-5 games on raw talent alone. Still light years away from their glory days of Bowden and company, and that's just fine.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'm going to say that the rest of our schedule looks winnable. Football as a whole looks not great this year. Alabama large gap Georgia extremely large gap every one else.
Lots of season left like where we are continue to progress learn, slide, and stay healthy.

I'm watching the KU/Coastal Carolina game, and I see the score (9-7 KU at the time of this), but Kansas looks completely outmatched physically.
I try to post this at least once a season, but this is my favorite way to track the games available to me:
CFB TV guide
It updates automatically and even tracks the scores.
That's awesome. Thanks for the link.
Send this man plaid. This is great.
Duke is legitimately so scared of NC A&T they went with a surprise onside kick to try to get the ball back
This is my 2nd post about a ridiculous coloring of one's field today: Coastal's field makes me feel like I'm watching the front half of the Andy Griffith Show.
It doesn't translate well to TV.
What would look worse in Lane - orange turf or maroon turf?
I didn't say I wanted to! I just asked what would be the worst of two bad ideas.
At least maroon would hide all the blood from getting flayed by the turf
Both would be equally awesome
End of story
Maroon turf with orange letters would be TIGHT
Finally, someone who is already in game day mode like I am.
When I say that to the wife....
Through 6 quarters of football, I think it's safe to say Duke is baaaad this year
Just switched over and WTF is this??? I go into my first commercial and there's no spurtle or ANY Bell and Howell products. Instead I get this cheap knockoff BattleVission glasses by AtomicBeam.
And I for one am glad to get back to a world where Duke sucks at football. That is a world I can understand.
Which means VT Football is on the rise!
It's science.
The special teams coach for KU needs to be fired. This team can't block worth a damn on ANY ST play. Also that last kick shouldn't have happened - should have been a false start on the PK.
Beamer vs ECU. We've seen this movie too many times.
Losing 7-0 and ECU isn't looking awful so far.
I don't often root for Tennessee, but eat shit Pitt.
Can't they both lose? π€’
That's why I pull for the meteor.
I dunno, most of my disdain for Pitt is rooted in losing to them 874398574398 times in a row, and *checks notes* Chris Bickell '97 Head Football
ChodeCoach Pat Narduzzi. My disdain for Tennessee is much further-reaching.
I will pull for the ACC on this one. Need some respectability and Tennessee has the dumbest fan base in America.
The cousins would like a word with you.
Anyone getting flashbacks watching a nooner against ECU with a lethargic start and the announcers being "Beamer is all about special teams"?
Bucks vs Ducks looks like it's going to go down to the wire. Oregon is down a couple important starters (Thibodeaux). But they came in ready for this game, and just scored first.
I just need this game to turn into a track meet and hit the Over.
Hooker was on the field for a drive... didn't turn out the best.
Hooker in for Tennessee and an injured Milton. Two incompletions and a bad run play.
Interesting that I see two comments about Hooker playing badly, and no comments after he leads a TD drive?
But it was a busted screen pass! /s
(you aren't wrong btw)
I'm not the type of person to say anything good about Tennessee.
I understand in your case. I am now remembering your great hatred of the Vols.
Hooker with 2 tds now
Hadn't seen any of their snaps since his first series but he really got it going looking at box score.
Oregon is really giving Ohio State fits. This might be a blowout if Kayvon Thibodeaux was playing.
Oregon is really good this year.
So pulling for the Ducks over anOSU.
(Shhh. Wife is an OSU die hard)
The top PAC-12 teams have been fairly overrated for quite a few years now. I chose OSU in the pick em just assuming they wouldn't be able to hang. I was wrong.
"Wife is an OSU diehard"
Nah, OSU -13.5 was a huge number. I wasn't high on them blowing out Oregon after they had a close one against Minnesota.
Go ducks!
And Shane escapes!
Lets not talk bad about the next hokies head coach.
The ! would tend to imply that I was excited about what I said. No one on this board is rooting against Shane. But he also is very unlikely to come here. Blazing his own trail.
And honestly he is doing it the right way. He has learned from the best at various stops during his career. Wish him nothing but the best.
Big pick by Oregon! Ducks might pull this off!
Run this one out Oregon!
Hooker came in and has dramatically outperformed Milton and made this a game again.
Very happy for Hooker. Glad to see him do well.
Wish he was still in orange and maroon and not just that horrible prison orange but....
Great win by Oregon!
Welcome, Oregon, to the "Beat Ohio State in Columbus in the last ten years" Club. It's a fun group with great snacks!
(Sparty did it twice, PSU, VT, Oklahoma and Oregon. No Wolverines Allowed.)
Brandon Dorlus was a big recruiting loss for us. We were after him hard and Oregon swooped in a snagged him.
Down goes anOSU
Don't look now, but Toledo is beating ND at the half.
Dear sweet baby Jesus
Nooooo I want them undefeated coming into Blacksburg
You did get your wish :-).
ND on upset alert, Texas A&M in a fight, Cincinnati tied at the half 7-7.
Yeah - looking at the top 25 in action and I'm feeling a lot better about the Hokies' score right now.
Looks like A&M QB went out with a serious injury very early
Boston College is handling UMass okay but they lost both their starting QB (Jurkovic) and best WR (Tay Flowers). Neither look like season ending injuries.
Toledo takes the lead with 1:35 to go!!
Those refs marched ND right down that field for the winning score.
Raise your hand if you are surprised by this?
Man A&M about to get a brutal fumble call.
As much as I would love to see an undefeated Notre Dame team come into Blacksburg (against hopefully a 4-0 good guys), they got let off the hook today
"THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!! AND WE LET 'EM OFF THE HOOK!"
Thos was the first thing that popped into my head when I read your comment.
I was hearing that in my head when I made the comment. Such an all timer
Anyone else catch the aTm fan wearing a VT hat at the Colorado - aTm game? Haha
Yep.
Was it by chance a brunette girl? If so, I know who it was.
Playing AT Mississippi State is hell on earth with these cowbells.
The broadcast is hell.
We get it cowbell I don't need to hear it over the commentators.
Sounds like a freakin biblical plague - but I guess that's the point
It's annoying, but I love the more eccentric elements of college football.
I do too but I feel like the cowbells are just lazy. If I was Ole Miss, for the egg bowl I would tell their fans to bring airhorns.
I love electric too but the cowbells aren't passion, they are just lazy. Ole Miss fans should bring air horns to the Egg Bowl just to get artificial noise makers banned.
Drink?
NCSU fans at that stadium probably like

Their stadium is steep like VTs and tiered. It can get loud.
Oh my... Syracuse lost to... Rutgers
See, you don't need money to win football games!
Schiano is only ever good as head coach of rutgers.
Quincy Sweat P having a good showing today. 4/5, 102yds, 1 TD and 94 yds rushing on 4 carries, 1 TD - led the team.
thanks for that update, i've been trying to follow him but going to that team makes a bit difficult
Makes me nervous that wvu flexed on their cupcake today
Middle Tennessee would flex on Long Island too, tbh
Yeah, maybe. I'm still not feeling great about next week. Best thing to do on the road is score early and often. I would have loved to see that today. I don't think our team is "built" to do that
I mean, I feel you (can't help but not feel you tbh) but i watched a good bit of that game and as an extremely pedestrian film reviewer: i wasn't all that impressed by WVU. i don't think there are that many weapons that we'd be overmatch just on scheme.

App State staying in this game with a 100 yd kickoff return.
Hot, Hot, Hot!
LOL! It was a reference to this video.
Watching and cheering for app state.
Miami offense looks suspect
King looks a step slow after the injury.
Still elusive but not nearly the same explosive threat. Really limits his effectiveness because he is decidedly average in the pocket.
I'm so glad we didn't adopt a tradition as stupid as cowbells good God
It can't be fun to attend those games, sober at least.
I was sober at our game, decidedly less now.
I've been multiple times, its not that bad. The stupid Dan Mullen videos explaining when they can cowbell are much more annoying, though they probably got rid of those.
π΅ The stars at night are dull and dim. Whenever they have to be over dumbol'stupid Texas!! π΅
Nice to see Texas revert to the norm down 16 at the half also nice to see app state up on Miami at the half 16-14
Texas, not back. Notre dame, not back. Miami, not back. OU almost losing to Tulane, OSU loses, tAMu almost loses. SEC punching the air right now wishing they invited CCU and Cincy instead.
Glad we won, because I'm bummed at Iowa State losing to Iowa. They can never seem to beat Iowa. The rivalry is like VT-Virginia but in the wrong direction.
I can't see Texas winning this game after getting stuffed on 4th and 1 there. That is deflating.
NC state getting worked. I hate the sec so much
Texas getting a taste of being a mid to low tier SEC team going forward...
They're getting housed by maybe the 4th or 5th best SEC West team
Sark will make it until they finally join the SEC and he goes 4-8 and loses to Saban by 48
Louisville with a 95yard td reception...and the receiver dropped the ball and the 2yd line after running a billion yards after the catch. Just watch sportscenter tomorrow morning...it'll be on there. Ridiculously stupid move.
Welp, Texas ruined my parlay this week.
Appy State! Hurt those Candycanes!
Miami sucks. We might make the top 15
Mizzou and Kentucky is a nail biter. Just saw an overturned targeting followed by a fumble into the end zone.
Looking forward to watching the Holy War next (Utah vs BYU).
Based on scores I tried watching the Texas State (clear eyes and all that) v. FIU game but its baaaaad. switched to Memphis ArkSt and i've been pretty entertained.
Weird stuff happens in Miami
Literally the only good thing that's happened there
This is what it feels like to be a Virginia Tech football fan watching our games after we go up by two touchdowns, just hanging on for dear life the remaining three quarters, and ultimately winning when the defense bails us out.

Miami losing is always better than the ACC winning. I'm disappointed in the result, but happy that App St made a game of it
Jacksonville State with the epic game-winning bomb to upset FSU is just... chef's kiss.
Edit: Beautiful...
The one time prevent would've been a smart idea
That was just......wow. And then FSU getting salty about JSU planting their flag at midfield......priceless.
This sport is a whole lotta fun when this stuff is happening to somebody else.
God I love this sport
Especially when it's your brothers alma mater π
I have one word - relegation
I love how the banner which says 'touchdown' on the full screen just says 'ouch' in this gif.
what do you think the cheerleader is smiling at there?
IDK if I'm more mad about the defensive play call or complete lack of effort from the back half of the defense on this play. It's embarrassing and I'm not an FSU fan
Holy shit that was an incredible walk off in Tallahassee by Jacksonville state you just hate to see it.
FSU is a shit stain on this conference and has been for the last several years.
Observing Texas getting worked by Arkansas, I had one question for Texas on their decision to join the SEC

So ND really has some issues don't they? Almost lose to FSU and Toledo.
You mean ND-FSU wasn't a couple of titans battling in week 1.

Yeah, we saw this curse in 2018.
Make sure and remind your Domer friends and family to buckle up.
That super close game between FSU and ND seemed so good on week 1......
Then FSU loses to Jacksonville State (lol?) and ND baaaaaarely beats Toledo (32-29).
Yup. Pre-season rankings, ladies and gentlemen.
Shades of ND vs TX back in Week 1 of 2016
Texas IS BACK!
Back to losing?
ND/FSU is ND/Texas part 2. "THESE ARE GREAT TEAMS!!!!" No, these are two shitty teams.
ND just needs to hold on for a couple weeks so we can potentially get another top 10 win this year
Notre Dame is ranked because their name is Notre Dame.
So ND almost loses to Toledo after barely beating FSU who just lost to a FCS school. ND not looking great.
FSU fans likely going to start barking at Norvell. They have looked downright bad at times, and many questionable coaching decisions. They look like they have speed and talent but no cohesion at all with what they are trying to do on the field.
I feel so good about our win today after seeing some of the struggles out there today... can be easy to get wrapped up in the X's and O's and forget about the W's and L's
@FSU after Jacksonville state plants their flag in doak Campbell

But...they didn't actually plant the flag tho. Just kinda walked around with it looking gleefully confused π€·ββοΈ
Ha
"Florida State is going to take offense..."
The only team they should take offense to is themselves. Don't lose to (what should be) inferior competition
I'm pretty sure if they took offense, they would have won the game.
Turns out FSU is bad and in classic fashion ND is also bad and made them look decent week 1
Just looked at FSU's remaining schedule. They might have a shot wins against UMASS and Syracuse. I think Wake is going to clean their clocks this weekend.
Does Norvell get fired at the end of year 2 if the Noles go 2-10 (or worse)?

Lots of season left like where we are continue to progress learn, slide, and stay healthy.
My takeaway from the first two weeks - 99% of the competition is beatable if you play a clean game and execute.
The 1% being Alabama or Georgia
and those are exactly the two teams I had in mind. GA - a couple lucky bounces / TOs will probably get you there. To beat Alabama you need a few more + some key players on the 'bama side to not be able to play.
