Not a lot of exciting games today, but CFB is back.
Early observation: is Mark Whipple's Nebraska offense legit? I'm glad he's not still in the ACC, but he might ruin my Northwestern cover for today.

Nebraska is a whole new team with 22 transfers in! They clearly found upgrades at QB and WR.
I never thought NW would cover I think Nebraska is going tob taken a nice big step forward this season.
Well this is why I don't bet.
The masses are asses!
I had NW covering outright and then parlayed in another bet. Y'all had me scared for a minute. Hope the second half stays true to form. Nebraska ain't bak.
Cue 59 yard completion on 3rd and 8 🤦♂️
Bill "Neb" Brasky cain't come bak, they gone 'n had a funeral and everything.
This happened to me and I was livid
Fine I'm wrong no one care about a close game, you suck Fox Atlanta, stop proving me wrong!
First half under and full game under didn't hit, now need NW to pull out a win. BOOM TD CATS! LEGGO
Nebraska-Northwestern has actually been entertaining to watch. Better game than I anticipated really
Nebraska is BAK to being Nebraska...
And Northwestern is Northwestern-the most confounding team in college football.
McMurphy probably should've waited more than a single drive before gloating about putting Nebraska in his top 25 lmao
Solid follow up though
Streams for the CBSSN games? Not having any luck
Since Nebraska's new OC Mark Whipple coached at Pitt last year, this feels like an unneccessary shot at the ACC
Of all the issues Nebraska had today, I didn't think the offensive play-calling was in the top 5.
I would love if Whipple quit after that.
Considering Nebraska's offense for the last several seasons, methinks Frost is the one that might need to have that realization.
The offensive gameplay really didn't look that bad to me. Unless Whipple was the one that called that dumbass onside kick after the Huskers had ALL of the momentum
Yep you score 28 points against a traditionally stingy defensive Team like Northwestern and still lose? That ain't on the offense.
31 ppg against P5 would be a top 28 offense last year. So I am pretty sure every single one if those defenders needs the brightest whitest shirts
Frost looked like a homerun hire, but the guy is proving himself to be a complete dunce.
Offense had 450+ yds and better than 50% 3rd down conversions.
I suppose it was the offensive Staff that called a completely ill-advised Onside Kick up 11 points in the 3rd Quarter?
Get outta here, Scott. Stop trying to save your job by throwing others under the bus. You're a G5 Coach who caught fire but can't hack it in P5 football (we know firsthand what this looks like).
I'm stunned Frost didn't work out.
Typically when a G5 Coach fails in the P5, it's due to either (a) inability to recruit, or (b) inability to manage stakeholders/donors. Frost has 25 blue chip recruits on his roster and the full backing of both donors and the administration, and somehow it's not working.
This is the same guy who took an 0-13 team to 13-0 in two seasons, beating 3 straight top 25 teams. That season, he won every game by 7 points or more, and only trailed once the entire season (against USF). His 2017 team beat an Auburn team that had wins over BOTH teams playing in the national championship.
And it's not like Frost a career G5 guy either. He coached at K-State under Bill Snider and at Oregon under Chip Kelly. As OC at Oregon, he coached a Heisman winner (Marcus Mariota) and won a playoff game. And it's not like he doesn't understand the culture at Nebraska - He was a national title winning QB there!
I just can't believe he's failing there.
We lost to Nebraska in the 1997 Orange Bowl when they had Frost at QB-they eventually wore us down with their superior depth.
He took over 0-12 team that quit on their coach, they were 33-9 the previous three seasons. So he did recover from a culture that grew toxic, but that 0-12 wasn't bare, it had talent.
His Nebraska team has talent to. Not enough talent to run the table in the B10, but enough talent to be bowl eligible year in, year out.
I picked UConn to cover. They are doing their part to try.
Ha you know it's been a long summer when you're betting on UCONN not to get blown out
Are we rooting for FSU to look good?
Honestly for the benefit of the ACC and negotiating, since we are tied to this ship, we want every ACC team except UVA to do well.
That's my conundrum. My brain agrees with you but boy, I sure do enjoy watching other ACC teams shit the bed.
Been doing some stuff around the house and have it on in the background FSU doesn't look sound on either side.
No
Eh, it's better for the ACC when they're good, but they came way too damn far up in VA for routine recruiting than even made sense in the mid 2010's, then didn't even develop that talent at all. So fuck em
UConn with the wild fumble recovery
Frost is done.
Would you perhaps say that the relationship between him and the AD is...frosty?
So, are we UNC fans? O don't want to be...
UNC is in a 14-7 game with an FCS school that has 25 players out. What in the world are they selling down there?
Half empty stadium too. Especially the higher priced seats.
I guess Carolina Blue and the Jordan Jumpman logo is that cool. Cannot understand why so many recruits buy into that crap.
Who wouldn't want to go where they turned a top 100 player and top 3 QB into a 5th round pick.
Read on another board they actually came out to the field to Metallica. Wasn't Sandman but another song. These guys just suck. They are worse than UVA to me now.
Stole our half and half stadium chant too, one side yelled tar the other side yelled heels
Can't wait to pummel these fools. They think we are scum of the earth but steal our stuff and then don't want to play us in the new scheduling model. Charmin soft.
Almost every school has a back and forth chant that they yell across the stadium. Go Green Go White. We Are Penn State. War Eagle. Roll Tide. Geaux Tigers. They didn't steal anything don't be dumb.
They use For Whom The Bell Tolls since they have a Belltower on their campus.
Yep they had this back in the mid 2000s when I went to VT games in chapel hill-still think they stole it from us plus they only play a few seconds of one of the best songs of Metallica's best album. We play the whole damn thing the way the boys intended.
I've drank so many IPAs that I've ordered my first ACC Network as seen on tv item.
Egg Pod Genie will be arriving on Tuesday.
I've been close to drunk ordering a Spurtle and an Irish potato slicer from there. You're playing a dangerous game, my friend.
Joining a nudist camp soon too?
unc ain't shit
(yes its still early, I know)
This is like watching shitty high school dad game film, this camera situation sucks
They just on air said the camera broke and they were finally able to find a spare somewhere on the truck. Lmao, ACC network is so low budget. Bet they're running an extension cord from Charlotte up to Chapel Hill too.
What? They said because of lighting in the area.
I heard in the second the camera was broke and they thought they found a spare in the truck. What the commentator said. If there was lightning in the area they would clear the whole stadium.
Edit - on Twitter, apparently lightning struck their cameras and fried them lol. So yeah they were broke and legit looking for a spare in the truck.
I like the wide angle view better to be honest. You actually get to see the whole play instead of just the line of scrimmage/following the ball.
I get why it wouldn't be the standard, but I'd definitely watch an alternate broadcast with that camera.
I agree. I like seeing the whole play develop. And if you rewind enough times like I did, you can skip commercials.
Go Rattlers! Cam'Ron Kelly got 800% burnt on that pass.
I just noticed Vandy at Hawaii just kicked off. And I'm going to watch it after the UNC game. Man I love that college football is back.
Wow what a TD strike from Moussa. Rattlers came to play tonight. Impressive given the players they have out.
This is actually a good game going into the 4th. Can't even really dog on UNC- they're not ranked, Maye and Hampton are sharp.
It's just the assumed talent and depth advantages are being negated by a really sneaky and disciplined FAMU squad.
I know I'm late to the party, but who is allowed to play in week 0? To me it seems like it allows you to get an extra bye week so why not?
For instance, I would have been 100x more excited to see us play Wofford at 11am today than on Sept 17
Any one that flys to Hawaii and then others that I have no clue of why.
I think it's just becoming a more trendy thing to have a few compelling games on week 0. Which is stupid I think, this will just eventually become week 1. I think it's too early for college football personally. Labor Day weekend has always been the official beginning of college football to me. Before that just seems like it's still summer and I'm watching some sort of scrimmage.
Note to everyone - I take back what I said in other threads about UNC potentially surprising in the Coastal. That defense is Charmin soft
Agreed. I think App could wax that behind next weekend in Boone. With their level of talent they should not be this soft.
I'm not going to put my faith in Chase Brice quite yet
App State is going to beat UNCheat badly next week. This team is soft.
UNC is the biggest talent waste of a program. Struggled for a half vs FAMU missing 22 player....
But Mac Brown is a top-3 coach in the ACC...
Defense looks leaky, but Maye and the two frosh RB's, Hampton and Pettaway, looked very good in that game.
Wonder if this staff can coach Maye to be higher than a 5th round pick. Dre Bly seems to have been exposed as a coach though.
The one that got pettaway. Really wish we had him.
They should look like Allstars it was against FAMUs band.
FAMU band might have better athletes in it than the football team.
