Any thoughts on how the baseball team will do this season? I know we lost some key players and a solid coach, but we still have a very talented roster (a lot of youth though) and I believe Coach Mason will do a fine job. We are projected to finish 6th in the ACC. Also, is anybody going to the Baseball Nights in Blacksburg on the 8th? I put two links up, one with an ACC preview of all the teams, and the other for info on the Baseball Nights and the auction they are having to raise money for the program. Go Hokies!

They should be solid, as usual. Probably won't be as good as last year but I think they should make the NCAAs.
I hope there is someone down in Blacksburg that can give us updates on the baseball team. I love baseball. I still got that itch for it since my high school playing days ended.

Yeah I read it already, it sounds great. After tonight it's that dead period where there is basically nothing really good to watch until baseball starts up. I guess there's the occasional hockey game...
We lost Coach Hughes after the Hokies great year to Oklahoma-by reports he made $157,000 his last year at VT. Oklahoma hired him to replace their coach who left for Auburn-that coach was making $350,000+ and was reported to get a contract at Auburn for salary plus incentives to total $650,000+
Similar theme, outcome.

In Weavers defense, Hughes told him not to bother matching the contract. I think in terms of baseball, Oklahoma is a much better opportunity than VT. I was very disappointed he left as well, but this particular case sounded like one where he was gone regardless of how much money we threw at him.
