Kind of had a random thought - I feel like Bud hasn't really gotten his "official" flowers yet. I know it's coming but I've been pondering how Whit & Co. is going to go about it.
Beamer has a statue, a street, a locker room, and the practice facility named after him. Bud deserves to have his piece as well.
This may be a really dumb or brilliant idea (which is why I'm bringing this up to the forum). Some rich donors should give money to the football program under the condition that the tunnel the players run out of for Enter Sandman will be renamed "Foster Tunnel". If they're going to make a Foster statue, put it right outside the damn tunnel entrance.

I love the idea of Foster tunnel.
I hate the idea of statues in general, but if we have one of Frank, I agree that bud should be right there next to him.
I still think if they're going to go with a statue it should be a picture of Bud squatting down right beside Beamers statue.
100% agree. That has always been my thought on a statue for Bud. Beamer wouldn't be anywhere near what he was without Bud.
Totally what I always thought should happen.
Statues are stupid and a waste of space and resources.
Sounds like someone who doesn't have a statue dedicated to them.
It's not sour grapes. It's a legitimate opinion.
Just laugh at the comment, like the rest of us did. It was pretty funny.
Sorry. Totally get the opinion. But then, the joke hit me and I couldn't help myself.
I see the statues thing from a lot of different angles. There are artists whose most know productions are statues.
Then there are some people who are totally worth having a memorial for. Others, not so much.
I trend toward your opinion on statues. I also would rather honor Bud in some other way.
And I found SJB's comment funny as well.
Go big or go home, FosterWorsham Field.
So I was thinking about this. We're coming up on 20 years since the last time we did any meaningful work to Lane, and its starting to show its age in some areas. Entrances are becoming major chokepoints, we are falling way behind in fan zones and amenities and there's definitely some potential to add in high dollar premium seating at field level in the SEZ like you've seen in some NFL stadiums in Dallas, Charlotte, and is starting to show in college at places like UNC, UGa, Auburn, Arkansas, Cinci, etc.
So my thought is, with these upcoming renovations, include a big fan area, either inside or outside the arena and name it the Foster Forum.
is this where we put the beer garden?
And the Flowrider
Someone hasn't been to a game in Blacksburg in awhile. Anything past September and people would be wearing parkas to do that (with a dry suit inside).
I dont think you get a chance, Bud would be on it the whole time.
Get the damn wetsuit on and get on it.
"Charlie don't surf!"
Bud's Suds @ Foster's Forum.
I think we got something going here.
And all they serve is Fosters on principle
But seriously, how has someone not opened a pub downtown called 'The Broken Clipboard'
But the salamanders in the stadium woods would not like this.
We already have an awesome fan area called Center Street!
No /s
I was thinking The Bud Box however that may be prone to being misunderstood.
Bud box, count me in
Colorado AD rapidly jotting down ideas...
Have to be this image as you enter.
Please make that a statue, including headphones.
My general stance is honor Bud in some other way rather than a statue.
That being said, if a statue ever comes to fruition THIS is intriguing.
Who was it years ago that designed the fire breathing bud that would rise above the scoreboard every time there is a defensive big play? I'm for that.
Edit: Found it

Bud with Frank just makes the most sense. They're success is so intertwined, that has to be respected for eternity. I get the statues are old hack, but a picture of Bud next to Frank's statue doesn't present the respect needed. The set up on that bench and the room around it supports a 3D representation of Bud that respects his relationship with Frank.
Its the respect he deserves. The rules prevent him from getting into the college HOF. Us, the VT fans, need ro show how much we appreciated what he did for his players, the university, and the fans.
Whats. Important. Now.
