I like the idea of this thread. Being able to put up trade offers or FA pickups/drop defcisions just to get input from others.

@vtscottyb

I have six Braves on my roster. Is that bad?

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

that's better than a wahoo

When we drafted, there were two groups I purposely avoided:

1) Yankees
2) Wahoos

(I have a Ryan Zimmerman jersey) - Complete blasphemy, but I love my Nats and I've had the jersey since way before they were any good.

So before he threw like this?

That's kind of how he is throwing now. Had another MRI on his shoulder that came back negative but he is still having pain throwing from third.

Yeah thats what I was saying. He throws like a girl. They need to see if he can play 2nd in my opinion and swap Rendon.

I don't think he is a viable option to play 2nd, seeing as that almost requires more throws than 3rd. He would have to show more range to be able to turn double plays, which including the throw would slow that down considerably. Also, the 2nd basement is usually the long cutoff man for the right fielder coming home.

@vtscottyb

Range would be the only issue at 2nd. 3rd Basemen consistently have stronger arms. Sure 2nd basemen throw more, but Zimmerman's puss arm could make it over there easier. 1st base should be the cutoff man to Home, only time 2nd is cut is for double cuts (sure doubles) for a play at Third.

The plan coming into the season was that he would play first base for 20-25 games this year with the potential to take over first full time next year when Laroches contract is up. I think that's if he is healthy but that seems less and less likely.

2nd basement fields the cutoff for home when the ball is hit beyond the Right fielder. If the play is in front of the outfielder then its the shorter distance and the 1st basement takes the throw home so he can cut it off to make plays elsewhere if needed.

@vtscottyb

That's what I said, if its hit over his head its a sure double. Doesn't happen that often. Only time a ball is coming home on a ball hit over the RFer's head is if a man is on 1st.

Better off playing first.

Definitely before that. When I was I getting my jersey, I was deciding between Zim, Felipe Lopez, Nick Johnson and Chad Cordero... I decided Zim was the best option, as he was most likely going to be a National for the long haul. Cordero was the distant second.

Obligatory: More fans than UVA has at spring game

I agree, TKP heads are better than other so I am definitely looking for help/pointers/other boozers haha

Trying fantasy baseball for the first time this year. So far, hasn't been going well for my first matchups. Even though my team looks relatively strong.

Eh.

Can you screen shot your team? I can help a little..

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

McCutchen going 1-7 so far this year against the cubs of all teams!!! I'm sure he will find his groove but wow tough start

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

If he is out there, get Bonifacio. He is trying to save his starting spot, batting leadoff, and stealing bags like he is Willie Mays-Hayes.

The Dude Abides

I will try, darn league was an auto draft so I had to use all 4 of my pick-ups this week of relief pitchers since it drafted 1.

especially when I had to pick up all RP and no position players. W/e everyone is in the same boat. Would love to win some $ that's for sure.

any ideas on a relief pitcher pick up?

Thank you!!! Sadly every one on this list has been taken. Soo I did a little research and picked up K-Rod..!!! pretty stoked about that one. I also tried to beef up my 3rd base power by adding Bonifacio (2b,3b,Of) . I am leaning towards staying with McCutchen for another week and I will go from there!

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

See if you can get a SP-RP like Chad Kelly or someone like that. Saves are always over-rated and usually some reliever gets hot and can be found on the waiver wire. I like the 5th starter in the relief role if he has enough of an offense behind him to get to double digit wins.

The Dude Abides

I'm down for an auction league!

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

Just traded Jed Lowrie for Glen Perkins... already have Andrus at 2nd and needed a RP big time. Also look to pick up Blackmon from colorado.

Trying to set up fantasy baseball lineups?

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

lol

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

I have been given a trade request.. Elvis Andrews to get Glen Perkins the RP. Thought? only other SS on my roster is Jed Lowrie...

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

Wouldn't trade a SS to get saves. You can find them on the wire. Valverde of the Mets has been decent, Santos Blue Jays (Jansen on the DL, might return soon, could snag him), A's demoted Jim Johnson so you could pick up one of their closer by committee candidates. While Perkins is a T10 closer he's also on the Twins. Won't get a crazy amount of saves anyway. Would rather have SB's from Andrus.

See a counter offer or should i stick with andrus. lol

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

Honestly I'd send Andrus for Perkins/Hamilton. He's more likely to trade him since he just got hurt (out 6-8). Hamilton had a great start and he'll be 20x more valuable than Andrus once he gets back. If you're worried about losing stolen bases with giving up Andrus pick up Dee Gordon of the Dodgers of Villar of the Astros. Both SS's that are just like Andrus.

wow great minds think alike !! I was eyeing that one.

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

Obviously worth a shot to see if they take it, but if I'm the other owner, that's not a very good offer.

Andrus for Perkins is relatively close, with the team getting Andrus getting a bit of a better deal. Even though Hamilton is out for 6-8 weeks, adding him in heavily tilts it in the other direction, and it's not like they need to move him - he's not taking up a roster spot on the other team since he's on the DL.

Not sure what you have and what your strengths/weaknesses are, but moving Lowrie for Perkins might not be a bad idea if they're interested. Then maybe drop your worst pitcher and pick up Gordon or Villar like beng30 suggests and you've upgraded your P without much of a downgrade at your backup SS.

@historyhokie.bsky.social

Yeah Lowrie for Perkins would work for you. If he declines a Hamilton trade that would be your best bet.

I just swapped the Lowrie for Perkins trade. I already have Krod, Kelly, Nathan as my RP. SP are Darvish, wainright, cashner, verlander, and gonzalez. I am stacked but lacking in the save category

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

Jason Werth getting, trading McCutchen.? Thoughts?

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

My first concern here for you is the injury bug. Werth is not playing right now due to groin tightness so if this becomes a lingering issue, you are really on the short end of this trade. Werth has played in over 150 games only once in the last four years. McCutchen has played in over 150 in all four years.

Then I looked at the stats and its not even close. McCutchen has consistently been better in the five categories you score points for except for average and that's about equal. Send the guy packing unless he has something else that makes this a better proposition.

lol

I asked for Werth and Huston Street fro McCutchen, RP kelly and Rp allen .

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

I am still not really a fan of that trade but its your roster. Hope it works out for you. McCutchen is significantly more productive at the plate than Werth in terms of runs, RBI and HR.
