Miami fans crying on twitter that our gashing them was because we got away with every hold under the sun. Thats the only possibility on how we ran for so much. Can't believe how much carrying they are doing about officiating in a 17 point win.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
They're the fanbase with the least ability to bitch and moan about officiating when the league is constantly trying to push them forward. Duke kick return, VT catch overturn last year, etc
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Except they claim its the exact opposite. The ACC is dragging them down every year, that's why they haven't won the conference and are struggling to make the Playoffs. Its almost as comical as the PSU fans trying to negative Nelly all things Franklin and are deep in VT threads about it.
Last year they also beat Cal and Louisville by replay assistance
Cal was an key overturn of a 22 yard catch that converted a 3rd and 20 and then the overturn on Targeting the Cal QB where Miami defender checked all the boxes. Launched, crown of helmet, struck head to head. It was deep in Miami territory and would have given call a first down in the red zone. Miami won 39-38 after trailing by 25.
Louisville scored on a scoop and score after a clear sack fumble. Replay said Ward did a forward pass, overturning it. It would have tied the game at 45. Miami then scored after getting the ball back to make it 52-38 and won 52-45.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Not only that but didnt flag Miami for facemask on Ayden Greene as he got the first down. We should have gotten a first down from that regardless of the inadvertent whistle which would have given us a first down at the Miami 38.
At no point today was Miami in any danger of losing to us. Even after we recovered the onside kick, we were down 2 scores with and would've needed to recover a second onside kick.

A win's a win and they don't ask how, they ask how many; but I like games better when the Hokies beat the opponent, rather than when the opponents beat themselves.

Best for me was the '83 squeaker in Lane North my freshman year. 48-0 win; avg ypc on 1st down was over 9;and we tore down the goalpost and carried out of the stadium! Most dominant win over the Hoos in my lifetime
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
For me it was '95. I was on the 50 with some lawyerly 'hoos when we intercepted the ball as the 'hoos were driving for the likely win, ran it back for a TD and sealed the Sugar Bowl. Still the most fun live game I've ever experienced, though winning that Sugar Bowl against Texas that year was a close second.

I don't feel great about this one. UVa went out and bought themselves an NIL team the same year that VT is struggling with the basics in terms of execution, and has limited talent. VT is out-talented.
That said, we probably owe UVa football some small amount of gratitude, as their spending woke our BOV the F up, and they realized that we can't even compete with the Hoos if we don't open up our wallets and invest in our football tradition. One year of buying players has put them at the top of the ACC. VT needs to go better than toe to toe with them.
VT is not without strengths even this year, so with clever strategizing I'm telling you there's a chance. It's smaller than usual, though.
Oh, yeah, I freaking hate UVa.

We have a punchers chance. We can run the ball and control the clock. That can shorten the game. Our biggest issue is going to be on defense. We have to get a couple of turnovers otherwise it won't matter
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
We run the legit triple option as our offense all game. Download the paul chinballs Johnson offense from ncaa 15 and let drones eat. He would be a killer triple option quarterback. Run it 40 times a game and those 5 deep ball will be Touchdowns.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I know it's gimmicky, but we should have been doing this all season long. Imagine having Drones, Hawkins, and Stewart on the field at the same time. Then once Overton became healthy, rotate those 3 backs with Drones non-stop. OML, that would be brutal to defend. Would make the occasional pass (play action at all times) so much easier.

They will very likely beat us, probably by a large margin. Our passing game and defense suck, and there aren't any reinforcements coming to help.
But starting next year they are permanently going to be an afterthought again. With us getting Franklin, any momentum they are building is going to be completely wiped out this winter by our new staff. The fact that UVa is a legitimate contender for the conference shows just how bad the ACC is right now and how ripe it is for someone like Franklin to quickly put a stranglehold on it

We are a 7 point dog. When adjusting for home field means maybe UVA is a 3/4 point favorite... Vegas does not concur with your analysis. I see the line creeping down bringing this to a near pick 'em when adjusting for home field "advantage" by game time.

So I was day dreaming this morning before I got up, and had a most glorious Mid-Fall morning's dream that we somehow were able to cobble a super coaching one off bomb just for this Saturday. Montgomery, Franklin, Pry and Bud all get together and scheme up a way to keep the 'hoos off balance enough for us to once again, kick their butts and in their own stadium to boot.

Getting up for this game for any season shouldn't be a problem. This year, however, we have a chance to wreck some conference championship and CFP aspirations. Its going to take a lot of dominoes to keep them out, but we only control what we can control. Beat UVA and they drop far enough down the polls (or out entirely) and it wont matter if they sneak into the ACCCG - no win there could recover from losing to Tech.

It's always fun to get under the skin of a hoo. We already live in their heads rent free, so any additional torment we can create is just icing on the cake.
Unfortunately, in my geographic area and career area, i work with a slew of hoos. Even sadder, a lot of the engineers and such that didn't get their undergrad from uva are now getting their MBA's or masters from there. No. 1 in the state of Virginia
No. 1 in Charlottesville
It's very nice of UVA to invite us up to Lane north to show JMFF around his second stadium
People who go to UVa like working at private equity firms and think they are great for America.
By private equity, you actually mean Burger King right???
If we end up with Franklin and spoiling the boohoos ACC CG and slim playoff chances, this will be the best possible outcome for a non-bowl season

Succinct and to the point.
Yes.....

Yeeeees.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssss

....and this...what a GLORIOUS WORLD we are in.
Do you think Pry gave Franklin a list?
Brent "Spy" Pry
Looks more like Pry is the one who knocks... jesus where was that attitude the last 3 years???
Let's goooooooooooooooo
The Ballein news might deserve it's own thread
FWIW that guy just posts stuff to post, I don't think he knows anything.
dammit. He also still shows up in VT people search.
Chris Coleman on TSL has noted this on their Subscriber Board. I think this has legs.
Yknow, pretty much every year for the last 5 or 6 years I've had serious doubts that we'd win this game.
That is the case again this year. But five straight years we've found a way to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, or watch them do the opposite.
We run the ball right down their throats, and we'll have a chance. And I'll never pick the Hokies to lose to LOLUVA, no matter what.
After all, as was pointed out up thread, they lost to Grant Noel.
That Miami front is for real. And we ran it right at them. We will gut UVA for 300. And they won't be able to do anything about it!
I just about to make this point. The Miami DL for run defense if legit and we gashed it.....when we decided to run.
We can gash UVA in run game all day and make them cry,
Miami fans crying on twitter that our gashing them was because we got away with every hold under the sun. Thats the only possibility on how we ran for so much. Can't believe how much carrying they are doing about officiating in a 17 point win.
They were whining about it in the r/CFB game thread too. Never thought I'd see a whinier fanbase than Ohio State
They're the fanbase with the least ability to bitch and moan about officiating when the league is constantly trying to push them forward. Duke kick return, VT catch overturn last year, etc
Except they claim its the exact opposite. The ACC is dragging them down every year, that's why they haven't won the conference and are struggling to make the Playoffs. Its almost as comical as the PSU fans trying to negative Nelly all things Franklin and are deep in VT threads about it.

I almost wish I could be as delusional as them
I forgot about the Cal debacle. Jesus. But the ACC is against them
Okay but was the VT/Cal roughing the passer guy also in on those calls? 🤔
Yes the head ref yesterday was the same as the Cal game
A crew that bad shouldn't be allowed to continue calling games in college
Guess that's why the officials blew our third down pass play that would've been a first down dead while the ball was in the air
There should be an allowance in the rules to actually eat the whistle when those things happen and treat it as a free play.
Not only that but didnt flag Miami for facemask on Ayden Greene as he got the first down. We should have gotten a first down from that regardless of the inadvertent whistle which would have given us a first down at the Miami 38.
Looks to me that without the facemask, that's a TD.
Fucking Refs.
b.street
ESPN though once again doing the ACC dirty. Miami takes the brunt here.
Wrong thread, but that's ridiculous coverage.
At no point today was Miami in any danger of losing to us. Even after we recovered the onside kick, we were down 2 scores with and would've needed to recover a second onside kick.
Hey now - according to ESPN analytics after the TD and onsides recovery it went from 99.9% pWin for Miami down to 98%. Scare territory indeed.
If we beat UVa next week...where would it rank in terms of most satisfying wins against them?
Hard to say without knowing the details.
The least satisfying that comes to mind is "Perkins Fumbles in OT" while "38-0 Bro" remains the ceiling in my mind.
Perkins fumble in OT was one of the most satisfying because I assumed that was the year we finally lost to UVA and then some how we won.
A win's a win and they don't ask how, they ask how many; but I like games better when the Hokies beat the opponent, rather than when the opponents beat themselves.
It should have been over in the 4th, fams were leaving, we forced OT and stripped that ball. We beat them.
Best for me was the '83 squeaker in Lane North my freshman year. 48-0 win; avg ypc on 1st down was over 9;and we tore down the goalpost and carried out of the stadium! Most dominant win over the Hoos in my lifetime

So would our passing game be efficient or effective?
1/1 for 53 yards and a TD
Yes.
They will very likely beat us, probably by a large margin. Our passing game and defense suck, and there aren't any reinforcements coming to help.
But starting next year they are permanently going to be an afterthought again. Nah they're a bunch of zima sipping frauds. Their roster is mid and they've lucked their way into their record. They are not good, we can beat them.
A mid roster is still light-years better than ours
Counterpoint: it's UVA
Little brother syndrome
Sure, but they hired some mercenary players. They got some decent pay-for-play talent.
We are a 7 point dog. When adjusting for home field means maybe UVA is a 3/4 point favorite... Vegas does not concur with your analysis. I see the line creeping down bringing this to a near pick 'em when adjusting for home field "advantage" by game time.
They don't get 3 points in homefield advantage over us in Lane Stadium North.
+9.5 now. Scared money don't make money.
Like ACC 2004 all over again

I do not hide my hate. I do not fear their team or program. They are better than us this year, but WE WILL WIN!
My 2018 prediction still stands! That was a glorious moment watching all the boo hoos leaving after the final whistle!
He's a complete blowhard, but god do I love listening to the Cowherd rant about UVA every couple of years
What hate looks like, all in one picture.
Where is the brie?
Why would a Hokie know what that looks like? ;^)
Present!
Why, cutbacks, of course.
They're saving the brie for the longed for ACC championship game we're about to knock them out of.
"The University of Virginia" anagrams to "A Feverish Virginity In Out", which I'm taking to mean that we pound them repeatedly.
Or we find them less than advertised and give 'em a quick toss after perfunctorily satisfying ourselves?
In other words, UVA can only sell a decent number of tickets when Hokies buy them to see VT beat Hoos about the head and neck.
The best thing about beating them there is that we don't have to call them an Uber afterwards.
To those wondering, no this is not expected to change this week

If someone says they went to UVA, you should start asking UVA-Wise or UVA-Charlottesville
The "smarter ones' went to Wise, right? Hell they probably get better athletic event crowds....
Hell, some years Wise probably fielded the better team.
UVA Wise (I still catch myself saying Clinch Valley College) is in my hometown. It started out as a poor house. A home for indigent people.

He has been way more important to UVA's run defense this season. 64 tackles in 8 games. Did intercept two balls that he returned for scores.
Ya I really don't know anything about him, I was just trying to play down his effectiveness so losing doesn't sting so much.
