The 8-3 Ladies play 4-7 East Tennessee State University Hawks today at 4 PM in Cassell Coliseum. The game will be on ACCNX. The Hawks are coming off a comeback win against 3-7 UNC Ashville. The ESPN Predictor says 98.5% Hokies.
Nine different players have started a game for the Hawks. Two players have started every game. The Hokies will have height advantage in this game; ETSU will probably only have one player over 6' on the court most of the time. One of the few, if not the only team I've looked at this year that every player on the roster has played in a game.
Only #24 Nelson scores in double digits at 10.5 ppg. ETSU only shoots 32.2% overall, 22.8% from three and 72.6% on Free Throws. The Hawks get outrebounded by 4 per game. Only have 7.9 assist to 16.3 turnovers per game. #10 Richardson 3.3 and # 20 Downing 3.0 average 3 or more fouls per game.
The Ladies should have an easy time today and should play everyone. This will be the final tune-up before we get into the ACC schedule with FSU on Thursday. They have one more non-conference game with Radford on Dec 21. They take the rest of the year off and play ACC teams for the rest of the season starting with Miami on Jan 1.

Looking a little more like a basketball team in the second half. Up 17 and ETSU is really piling up the fouls; 4 with 2 and one with 3.
If we could have shown up in the first quarter, this would have been a blowout.

We were rightfully angry. Especially when they dribbled it out at the very end.
There was a lot of sloppy play in that game. But wow the number of steals.
I only saw bits and pieces of the game. But looking at the stats I see two good things... 1) only 9 turnovers. this is much improved. need to keep this up. 2) Anyia Trent... career high 7 rebounds, career high 3 assists, career high 2 blocks. All this with only 1 personal foul. She did not score, she was 0-1 FG. But that's OK. I don't think we're looking to her to be a major scoring threat anyway.

41% floor shooting has to improve. This is where I think Trent could help since Petersen hasn't been scoring either. Carleigh and Nelson shooting 6 for 19 is rinse and repeat. Really needed Kate Sears this season.

I agree, we need to improve our FG%. A poor night should be 45-48%. A good night should be 49-52%. And a great night should be 53% plus.

We were pathetic in shooting those FTA. It wasn't until the fourth quarter that we got above 50% for the game and stayed there.

Yeah. Both teams playing on the same day, going to church and shoveling 5 inches of snow off my sidewalks and driveway caused me to be a little rushed putting together the post.
No big deal. Appreciate the post. I grew up over that way so I'm real familiar with that small little school. Most of my high school went to college there. I took some surveying classes there after I graduated from Tech.
