  • OC/TE Ty Howle - $900k ($500k base)

  • WR Fontell Mines - $600k (with $75k retention bonus)
  • OL Matt Moore - $600k
  • RB Norval McKenzie - $550,000,
  • QB Danny O'Brien - $350,000

  • DC Brent Pry - it's complicated

There are some other staff that has been reported but no record of their employment exists (yet).

Some of the players are making as much or more than the coaches?

Franklinstein Monsters (OL)

Same as in every other sport. It's harder to replace players than coaches.

Also, I take a lot of NIL numbers reported with a big grain of salt.

I think it is safe to say that our QB1 will make more than every coach other than JF.

I will say that I find some comfort in knowing that we are putting the appropriate value on a novice OC and not paying him 7 figures to see if he can be successful.

Doesn't kylar murray mske like $55m? I think Reid is the highest paid NFL coach at like $22m. But coaching pay drops of quick after the top 2-4 coaches.

James Franklin makes more than like 20 NFL coaches too.
Those position coach salaries are in line with NFL pay too. However, our OC is woefully low for both college and pros. Coordinator is the one place that the NFL is really better pay than college.

Bitter: Assistant Pay

The importance of punctuation (that colon makes all the difference in this lede....) lol

From the 2018 VT-uva game-"This is when LEGENDS are made!"

Seriously, doesn't it work both ways?

Hoping we DON'T have any 'bitter assistant' coaches before even spring practices start.... /s but not really...

(hoping we got rid of any we might have had...along with any bitter players)

From the 2018 VT-uva game-"This is when LEGENDS are made!"

I was thinking of it more assistants looking at how much players make, not anything to do with VT in particular.

Important to note there are recruiting bonuses for coaches who bring in high-level talent, something I didn't see previous coaches do.

Where are the details of these bonuses? Haven't seen this info.

Saw them on 247 (behind paywalls)

So Mines and Moore got pay bumps. Any sense for how these salaries compare to the former salaries of the others? I am not sure what I was expecting, but this all seems incredibly reasonable.

These numbers seem very reasonable, and it keeps the door open to splash on a bigger name coordinator down the road if deemed necessary.

I also wonder if it's assuming that more money will be raised in the future?

Position 2026 Coach Salary 2025 Coach Salary
OC/TE Ty Howle $900k ($500k base) Monty $1.5m
DL Sean Spencer $750k Price $500k
WR Fontell Mines $600k (with $75k retention bonus) Mines $550k
OL Matt Moore $600k Moore $250k (was still being paid by WVU)
RB Norval McKenzie $550 Brooks $365k
QB Danny O'Brien $350 n/a
ST Doug Shearer $350k Stu $525k
Nickels Vic Hall $300k Quinn/Jones $240k/$575k
DC Brent Pry ~$8m Siefkes $875k

I couldn't find info for Brent Davis, Adibi, or Whitehead

I thought Pry's salary was offsetting. He is basically being 3 Million and it's split up as salary and payout

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

its complicated as stated above, thats not his salary, but he's making bank next year.

His official salary for the next two years is $1.1 million. That offsets a portion of the $3 million dollar buyout he is due each of those years. It's not that complicated.
