Question I've always had regarding the Cake Vs. Pie Debate:

Does Ice Cream 'Cake' count as cake? Or does cake imply that the dessert is made of a fluffy bready substance and covered in icing?

I don't think icing is a prerequisite. Pound cake and shortcake are still cake whether you top them or not. But I believe milk, flour, sugar, butter, and eggs should certainly be in there somewhere.

Soooo if ice cream cake does not have flour, it does not qualify?

Unless it has some bread product in it somewhere, ice cream cake is just ice cream shaped like a cake with icing on it. Hard to consider it a cake. If so, I'm thinking of a few flavors of Ice Cream that would have to be considered cake, even in the quart/pint/half gallon sizes, as they include "cake like" substances within. Would you consider "Red Velvet Cake" or "Birthday Cake" flavored ice cream a cake, even if it has cake bits in it?

I totally say ice cream cake is cake. Nonconventional cake, but still cake. That being said, I don't like it, and team cake deserves what they get with ice cream cake. They belong together on the "inferior to pie" side of the dessert line.

I disagree. To me it goes:

  1. Ice Cream Cake
  2. Pie
  3. Regular Cake

I agree.... Ice Cream cake is not cake. It's sculpted ice-cream.

Well ice cream cake has the oreo in the middle layer, which includes flour amongst its ingredients.

As others have pointed out, something must actually contain cake to be a cake. Calling it a cake does not make it a cake. Ice cream cake is just sculpted and frosted ice cream. Cheesecake is really a pie, because it has a crust and no cake. A urinal cake has cake in the name, does that make it a cake?

No, ice cream cake is not cake.
Cake is a risen dough product.
Ice cream has no dough. In the case where there is junk mixed in the ice cream it's incidental. If you toss M&Ms into an ice cream cake, it doesn't make it a huge M&M.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

I'm on Cake's team, but the debate in its entirety leads to one ultimate conclusion:

FOOTBALL SEASON NEEDS TO HURRY THE FUCK UP!

I love football season as much as the next person, but please let me have the rest of Spring and Summer before football gets here. I need to be able to enjoy some vacation time before going full on football mode.
