The Redskins got better than normal value in their trade with the Cowboys, the move usually would have called for their second and possibly a fifth, Cowboys gave up a third.
I actually think the Redskins did really well in areas of need, regardless of the LOLUVA pick. Their pick of Trent Murphy helps on depth at OLB and also on Special Teams, where they were dreadful tackling last year. They have big question marks coming in the next couple seasons at OLB since Orakpo was franchised and Kerrigans deal is up in 2015. They also have to have a backup in case Rob Jackson screws up again on the drug test since his next failure would be a season suspension. His deal also comes due after the 2015 season now.
As for the offensive line, adding significant depth to the guard positions with the possibility of cutting RG Chris Chester for Salary Cap reasons was one of their top priorities, and potentially having Moses compete with Tyler Polumbus to start at Right Tackle is a step in the right direction for protecting RG3. It also gives new head coach Jay Gruden a few more offensive lineman better suited to the slightly different zone scheme he prefers, over the scheme the Shanahan's employed. The pick of Spencer Long may have been a reach with his injury history but if no trade partners were available, I am ok with the pick.
I would have liked to see them get another safety to pair with Ryan Clark, although they did resign Tanard Jackson this week after he was reinstated by the league for his last drug offense. He spent last year coaching high school ball while staying in shape, so no telling what he will look like on the field. They also resigned Merrifield, who with his hits will probably miss a couple games for suspensions. Rambo is back as is Phillip Thomas, who missed all of last season after an injury, so we still dont really know what they have in those two.
They didn't really have a need at receiver with the additions of Desean Jackson and Andre Roberts in free agency. Tight end will all depend on whether Jordan Reed can stay healthy, but Logan Paulsen and Nyles Paul both return as well. Quarterback is set since they have not traded Kurt Cousins at this point.
I would expect rounds 4-7 for the Skins to be all defensive depth selections, focused on cornerback, inside linebacker and interior defensive linemen with the potential to also play special teams. Wont be shocked though if they resort to best player available mentality either.
My biggest loser so far has to be the Miami Dolphins. They have simply overreached on the two tackles and the wide receiver they took was ok but still probably not at that pick. The other team not doing so hot so far is the Chiefs. Bit of a stretch on the two picks they have had so far.
The Raiders couldnt have luck boxed their way into much of a better draft so far, having Mack fall to them at 5, and then Carr fall to them in the second round. Their third round selection was about on par for location.

I would have liked to have seen the Redskins take another DB as well. Since Rambo and Thomas haven't produced much yet, we're banking on the Ryan Clark pickup, which is fine because he is a great safety. We were worse a few years back when we lost him in FA. I'd think we should have gone CB at some point, but, even though the secondary can't be the only focus. Our LBs seem to get lost all the time.
Since the pass-happy league is just now starting to understand that you need lots of great players in the secondary to contend with it, its looking like the NFL is becoming grad school for Hokies.

Considering what is there and the fact it's the third round, I don't mind getting Moses there. Not really sure about that second round selection, but they got someone they needed and wanted for the line and still have another third.

The Rams are having a spectacular draft. I am going out on a limb and calling Logan Thomas to the Jets at #80. Although if there is a good wideout that may be the way for them to go.

Panthers draft Trai Turner OG from LSU. This has been a great draft for the Panthers so far. Some people think that Kony Ealy could be the next Robert Quinn.

So am I the only one who appreciated the cut to the Skins fan after their second round pick? He was all upset/confused, shouted 'Morgan Moses', and then proceeded to look rather foolish because 1) he wanted a player from LOLUVA and 2) the Skins got Moses anyway...

James Gayle has worked his ass off to be a great defensive end, and it's a little insulting to suggest he would just switch positions. He's never even played Tight End.

For what it's worth, that's not how I read that comment. Think it was a joke about whether a team needed a TE and therefore may draft Logan. Just how I read it.

I like Aaron Murray a lot. I thought he was brilliant in college and have a higher opinion of him coming out than I did Stafford.
Having said all that, I also like Erik Ainge and apparently don't know d!ck about quarterbacks. I do, however, know my quarterhorses like the back of my hoof.

Ravens are killing it on the defensive side. Mosley, Jernigan, Brooks and Urban all seem to fit their defensive mold. Also, Seattle getting KPL in the fourth round seems like a bit of a steal.

Well, I admit that I wear homer glasses, but i really didn't think Gayle would stay on the board this long. Especially with all these other DEs being selected. Was there a serious knock on him that I never read about?

Biggest losers in this draft; the Redskins.
Just the draft? (ducks)
The Browns and Raiders still exist so yeah just the draft.
Off-topic: PH2VT as in Patrick Henry High School?
Indeed. Ashland not Roanoke.

Plenty of drama tonight, with an expected Josh Gordon suspension and Stevie Johnson being traded to SF.
Marquise Lee drafted in the second round!? This draft is STACKED!
Best quote so far: "I'm all about the commercialism of this draft." -Todd McShay
Will we ever see a RB go in the first round again? I feel like teams know now that they can just reload someone every 3 or so years.
Morgan Moses is still undrafted going into the 3rd Round and has the Greenroom to himself.
So the size of his audience is exactly what he's accustomed to?
HTTR? 3rd round pride of LOLUVa: Morgan Moses!
I made this in paint to help fellow TKPers better visualize the situation.

Omg, this picture is killing me. Can't stop laughing
Man I'm loving this Panthers draft so far. Did not expect Ealy to be sitting there at 60. That front 7 just keeps getting better, somehow.
Ealy is a beast.
Considering what is there and the fact it's the third round, I don't mind getting Moses there. Not really sure about that second round selection, but they got someone they needed and wanted for the line and still have another third.
I'm now thinking that either the Cowboys, Eagles, or Giants will want to draft James Gayle, so that they can use him to continue abusing Moses.
*snicker*

The front seven for the Texans is going to be ridiculously talented in the coming years.

I now believe in conspiracies. The league has conspired to draft Logan late to avoid paying him billions.
Tennessee is going to draft Logan in round 4. You just watch.
I am getting irrationally upset every time ESPN and Mel Kiper Jr. says Logan Thomas is a former tight end.
Don't watch NFL Network they're talking about him playing professionally at Tight End.
Did Tajh Boyd quit football? I haven't heard about him since the bowls.
I think football quit Tajh Boyd
Who goes next: Logan or Gayle?
Depends on who needs a TE now. :)
Did that really deserve a down vote?
James Gayle has worked his ass off to be a great defensive end, and it's a little insulting to suggest he would just switch positions. He's never even played Tight End.

We may need to put more time into figuring out the sarcastica font, after all...
Cute
I thought it was obviously a joke.
Logan to the Cards!
Logan to Arizona
Awesome spot under Bruce Arians.
Congrats Logan!
Of course a fellow Hokie picked him. Makes perfect sense
Where did Exum go?
Still on the board.
How the hell is that possible!? Well that screwed up my predictions.
Logan beats out, Tajh Boyd, AJ McCarron & (granted he was hurt) Aaron Murray, among other well-known and highly-touted QBs!
He also beat out Mamziel considering he went to a better team.
What do Aaron Murray and Logan Thomas have in common? They both always beat GT!
Ravens are killing it on the defensive side. Mosley, Jernigan, Brooks and Urban all seem to fit their defensive mold. Also, Seattle getting KPL in the fourth round seems like a bit of a steal.
I kinda wanted Daycare to go to the Ravens. Bit bummed.
My girlfriend is from Pittsburgh so I tend to pull for their sports teams on the side, but the Steelers just drafted Jordan Zumwalt. NOOOOOOOO!
And we're still talking about Johnny Football..
Who?
Well, I admit that I wear homer glasses, but i really didn't think Gayle would stay on the board this long. Especially with all these other DEs being selected. Was there a serious knock on him that I never read about?
