Defensive tackle Eric Whitehead originally planned to commit on May 30th, but decided to end his recruitment a bit early on May 3rd. He verballed to Tech then and give Charley Wiles a birthday present in the process. The 6-1.5, 295 pound run stopper from Indianapolis, Indiana (Lawrence Central) looks to fill a need at tackle along Bud Foster's defensive line. Eric was generous enough with his time to answer the questions you all came up with.

Enjoy.
What is it like being recruited by Aaron Moorehead, what were his strengths as your lead recruiter? — pbowman69
EW: I think Coach Moorehead is a great recruiter, he's more of a friend and we talk about more than just football. I feel like he's still trying his best to show me everything about Virginia Tech. When he came to visit me last week, it felt good to know he's not done recruiting me.
What hobbies do you have outside of football? — ohherro
EW: I like drawing, hanging with family, and friends. Plus I can hoop.
Can you describe an instance in life when you were met with adversity? How did you deal with that situation? — VPIhokieME
EW: I deal with adversity everyday. I'm too short to play my position. I overcome the situation by going as hard as I can every second I'm on the field.
You say you always wanted to go to VT. That's awesome! What made you want to be a Hokie? — Hokie Stone
EW: Virginia Tech has a great history and coaches that care about their players.
Who is your favorite Hokie, past or present? — Hokie Stone
EW: Luther Maddy. We play the same position and he plays with the same passion and attitude I play with. And I got to talk to him a little when I visited.
In your eyes are the VT uniforms "cool"? Did you pay attention to school's uniforms at all when you visited/looked at those schools? — pteron
EW: I love VT's colors. I think uniforms are the last on my list of things to consider. I don't really care about uniforms.
How was your visit to Virginia Tech last weekend? Where did you go and what did you do? — joe
EW: I had a great visit. I viewed the stadium, walked campus, ate in the cafe with students, they had everything, and I talked to a couple players. My favorite things about VT's campus would have to be the locker room and player's lounge.
OSU offered... are you still 100% VT? — Hokie Stone
EW: I'm a Hokie.
Cake or Pie?
EW: Neither really, I'm more of an ice cream guy.

You keep using that word...I do not think it means what you think it means.
Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
Unless you have Iocaine powder.
I've spent a number of years developing an immunity to Iocaine powder...
INIGO: I admit it, you are better than I am.
ROBERTS: Then why are you smiling?
INIGO: Because I know something you do not know.
" It doesnt matter who else offered: I'm Hokie" said Whitehead. You gotta love hearing that.
Finally, an ice cream guy! He is already one of my favorites. Bluebell Homemade Vanilla, Gold Band...ahhhh
*Shivers at memories of job interviews*
EW: I love VT's colors. I think uniforms are the last on my list of things to consider. I don't really care about uniforms.
But this goes against everything we know about recruiting!
Cool that he likes to draw. Maybe we can ask him to share some of his artwork?
MOAR T SHIRT DESIGNERS YAIS jk guys jk
Nice! I appreciate you including the OSU question and his answer. Good stuff. Also, the #teamicecream is a solid move I didn't see coming. This young man will go far.
Chip on his shoulder: check
Ideal size for the DT position at VT: check
Goes hard every second: check
I think he will fit in nicely here. Welcome to VT Mr. Whitehead. Can't wait to see you wreck shop in Orange and Maroon (but mostly Maroon...all Maroon actually).
Oh God, please stay away from basketball courts, please!!
Thanks Buddy.
Joe, this was an excellent idea. To have community members submit questions, then vote on which ones were best, and have those top questions included in the interview was genius. It allows for a sense of inclusion and creates a tighter nit among the TKP community as a whole. No one is excluded and everyone is a part of the Hokie fan experience.
Good job.
I completely agree, great idea Joe!
Gotta figure out a way to convert him to #TEAMCREAMPIE
You do realize that to those of us with a dirty mind, this is not what you think it is...right?
