Shane is salty about holding called on Riley Beiro

The quotes are from Beamer after practice Tuesday via Mike Barber.

"It was a God-awful call"

"Probably one of the worst I've ever seen. We have great officials in this conference and an ACC official would not have made that call."

"I don't know what to teach him," Beamer said. "If that's a hold, then everything we're teaching is wrong, because the kid had his hands inside, he ran his feet and he just buried the guy on his back. Only thing I can tell Riley next time is don't dominate the linebacker as bad as you dominated that guy."

"He just got on him and drove him, just like we teach him to do," Beamer said. "Official thought he saw holding. Disappointing call."

Indeed, Beiro drove the defender onto his ass, then got flagged. Thanks, Big East officials!

The definition of a hold has always been fuzzy to me, but I knew when I saw his block that it wasn't a hold. He just got owned, by a backup fullback.

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

same here

French, I would love an anlaysis on holding if you ever get a chance. It seems quite grey to me.

Ask Ed Wang

Or Blake DeChristopher. Until Blake's senior year, those two seemed to have mastered the craft of holding and turned it into an art.

"Asian guy with super long hair, who wears black gloves when the opposition is wearing white uniforms, and holds every play. Yep, that won't draw the umpire's attention."- Curt Newsome on Ed Wang

haha

I love that qoute

A new season...new hope

Well....

he shouldn't be a backup....

Definitely

One of the benefits of working in Cassell is getting to work with some football players from time to time. he was one of them and should probably have started this year. with joey p gone next year, he will have two years to potentially start.

He's been noticeable...

...on special teams for a while. I remember Martin Scales caught my attention on KO coverage a few years ago.

Ah...

Well, at least that wasn't a massive turning point in the game, or anything like that!

It isn't a hold. The awkward fall made it look like he was yanked down, but the ref shouldn't have made the call without seeing the hands out away from his body or outside the shoulder pads.

Ouch.

That one play, more than any other, defined the outcome. 7 pt. Swing, changed the entire course of the game. Yes, we continue to put up points, but that single zebra call flipped the switch. Terrible Big (l)East officiating.

If it ain't orange, it better be maroon...and if it ain't maroon, it better be soon!

Sh***y call

Defender has his hands to the outside. If anything he is holding the offensive player. He is trying to fight through the block, gets double-teamed, can't contain, then gets buried by momentum.
