Finish the sentence. If we lose to Duke on Saturday then I will. . .

I'll start, I'll probably stare silently at the TV screen for 45 minutes to and hour. Then a friend will call or text and I'll spend about another half hour bitching about the team and possibly the refs. Then I'll realize I'm taking it too seriously and acting like a douche so I'll calm down and watch some more football.

not be shocked.

Who's actually confident about this game?

I'll probably

be more pissed I have to pay for Duke fan in my office's lunch Monday

it's depressing that this is a legit forum topic

if we lose to Duke, then I will....

Try to convince myself I'm dreaming, but then after hitting my head against the wall a fee times and not snapping out of it, I will proceed to become immensely depressed and frustrated at our team's obvious lack of pride, determination, and want-to.

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN

Yeah, Duke looks good at 5-1 but they've had a light schedule and will probably lose their final six games (VT, UNC, FSU, Clemson, GT, Miami).

I just don't see it happening mid-season, at Lane, on Homecoming.

Let's not go all Chicken Little just yet. Until then...bourbon.

I honestly don't know

As a Hokie and a Philadelphia Flyers/Eagles fan, I'm used to having good teams that disappoint in big games. But losing to Duke in Football and having a losing record past the halfway point in the season is something my brain cannot compute.

I'm here for the memes, I just stay for the football.

Go to TOTS

Rails. Many of them.

Rails on Rails

Either way they'll be flowin more than likely.

Keep supporting our team.

If we lose, which I am confident that we won't, I will be incredibly disappointed.
I will be irritable all of Saturday.
But I will not stop supporting the Hokies.

I am not a fair weather fan that only pays attention wile we are winning.
I don't think any of you guys are either.

Talk to any alum from the old days - they yelled and screamed for their team even if they had an awful record.

Every week is a new game.

Hokies.

Possibly be happy and sad

Thinking about putting $50 on Duke to win...We are 9 and half favorites dont know what that pay out is but I'll be happy with the money but sad at the loss or happy with the win and sad with losing money

A new season...new hope

Line

I couldn't believe the line when I saw it, I don't bet on college football (outside of bets with UVa fans forcing them to wear Tech clothing the day after they lose to us) but this line made me want to. I figured at best we'd be small favorites if not even given how bad we've looked the last two weeks.

to the heart of cygnus' fearsome force we set our course

Probably zone out for a couple hours...weekend ruined, again

Lot's of Bourbon

and possibly getting yelled at by wife for being loud, angry and then depressed for the remainder of the Saturday.

Let's Go!

Pretend I'm not upset

because that's what we're doing this season. Focusing on fun and friends and trying to not let the football ruin that.

But later, in private, I'll probably break some shit.

Guess I'll be...

...cheering for the Dookies come Bowl Season. #goacc

not be surprised

Be upset for a few minutes

and then enjoy some strong drinks with some good friends while watching other games that evening. Seriously, I've kind of accepted that this team has a number of basic problems that we will probably not fix this season. I will still cheer my heart out and live and die on the successes and failures during the games, but when the clock hits 0:00 I will move on, win or lose. It's different from previous seasons because I won't have my hopes ripped out by a loss, since at this point I just want a bowl game and some development of younger players. I think I could even stomach a losing record easier than I could take the second Clemson debacle last year or the Stanford beat down the year before (don't even get me started on GT-UNC back to back in '09.) It's almost relieving to not have unrealistic expectations.

Feel worse than

when we lost Homecoming to Temple. Seriously, if we lose to Duke at home then CFB needs to do some serious soul-searching about the men he has coaching this team. Our talent level in football is about as high above Duke's overall as theirs is above ours in basketball. Duke's record is a testament to cupcake scheduling, they could easily lose out from here. We had better win, or my kids are going to spend all day trying to cheer me up. (They are too young to understand)

I'd say losing Homecoming to Miami of Ohio my freshman year in 1997 was much worse....so sad

Respectfully disagree ...

Respectfully disagree: losing to Temple in 1998 was way way worse. Until the JMU loss, Temple '98 was the game that shall not be named.

rush the field, find O'Cain or Stiney, and punch them in the face.

Rip his freaking head off!

I honestly think we're going to lose this one. It's just a matchup thing. The coaches have been struggling all season to find the right mix in the secondary, the d-line doesn't pass rush well. I think Duke's quarterbacks can throw the ball very well and honestly Boone scares me more than Renfree.

If we win, I expect these three things to have happened:

1) We get 3+ sacks and take Duke out of their comfort zone
2) Have a big defensive or specials teams play
3) Logan facilitates the run game by effectively running the zone play.

Cry and throw things...

... and then get shitfaced because I won't be able to deal with reality. Will have to sober up before I drive out to the concert that night, though... Fortunately it's a 10:30 AM MT game...

nothing will ever shock me more than the JMU loss.

If we lose to Duke on Saturday then I will. . .

drink heavily.

And then be right back hoping we can pull out the win next week.

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

I will be disappointed for a few minutes and go about my life. I refuse to let a football game ruin my weekend (and time with my kids). There was a time where I'd be pissed about a loss for a couple of days after a loss. There are more important things in life.

I may, however, let it piss me off again Sunday afternoon when I have to spend time with my MIL's family...just so they don't try to engage me in conversation.

Do what I did when we lost to Cinci

Drown my sorrows in a bottle of juarez and some salt till I forgot the game...

If...............lose to Duke in football? we talking Bball?

Go to YouTube and watch Deron Washington highlights.......am I looking forward to basketball?

binge drink.... but that again if we win I will also binge drink.

I will patiently wait for Franks interview and listen to him say...

"Well we did some really good stuff on offense and defense out there today, if you take away the mistakes that we made, we would've won that game."

Then, I will offer to write for French, although it may be a little shorter.

"The offense is quite offensive and the defense can't defend. THE END."

Then prepare my mind for Klempson.

It's a great day to be a Hokie!

ill be angry all right

but ill be back.
