Going to miss watching him play!

Good article -- thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I learned something new too:

In January, he had undergone spinal fusion surgery after a congenital condition affecting his spinal cord was discovered.

Had no idea this all stemmed from an issue he had been born with. Amazing that it didn't come up sooner given all the tackles he broke in college.

It must be so disappointing for him, and yet he maintains such a positive attitude. David Wilson is one for the ages.

Katie Baker links some amazing clips, but when I think of DW, this is the run I'll always remember first. Can someone remind me how to embed this video right in the post? Thanks.

Edit: Whoa that's easy. Thanks!

Below the YT video frame, click the "Share" tab, then "Embed," and copy-paste the HTML that it gives you.

I've been thinking about this run since I heard about the injury. Gets dragged around by his head, does a headstand on a guy, spins around. I know this injury wasn't due to this play, but in my mind I feel like run was the reason for all of it. Repeat: I know it wasn't.

I was proud to see him as a Hokie and one of the Giants. Hope he seizes the next stage of his life with the zeal he showed for football

I remember watching this game in lane. Although the game wasn't close, this play was the epitome of his playing career and personality off the field. Always a spark plug, no matter the situation around him. Hopefully David can pursue something else he loves.

So I was thinking about what David Wilson would be like as a coach and this was all I could come up with:

Player: "Coach Wilson, what should I do when I'm one-on-one with a defender"
Coach Wilson: "Just run past him"
Player: "What about if he's in front of me?"
Coach Wilson: "Then run around him. This really isn't all that difficult"

"Just backflip over them! Duh!"
