Bold Predictions...

Give three bold predictions for Saturday nights primetime showdown. I'll get this started...

1. Our secondary picks off JT Barrett 3 times
2. Brewer throws 3TDs and passes for over 320 yards
3. Virginia Tech defense holds OSUs offense to less than 10 points

Go bold or go home, that's what I say.

D_BAM

1. Virginia Tech scores a non-offensive touchdown
2. J.T. Barrett finishes with negative rushing yards
3. Hokies win by two scores

1. Virginia Tech scores a non-offensive touchdown

Late first quarter, with Barrett throwing out of his own endzone, over the middle. Puts us up 10-3, and never looking back.

To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
@VTnerf on insta, @BuryHokie on twitter, #ThanksFrank

  1. Slye hits a 40+ yard field goal in the 4th quarter
  2. JC Coleman has a TD
  3. Barrett finishes with a sub-40% completion percentage

I almost down voted you for that second one...unless he scores a TD after Juice and Shai each have 2 a piece. If we put him in on a goal line again....No words.

The proud "V" in Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University spelled out in chest paint.
North Endzone @ 03 Miami.

Why does a TD have to be scored from the goal line? Besides, it's already been said that JC is going to get carries, just Marshawn and Shai will get the bulk. I suggest getting over that quick.

I agree. Id love to see JC realize his job is in jeopardy, step up and bust out one or two great runs during his limited playing time. The more (friendly) competition at RB, the better for all backs.

It also seems to me that he was the only one who scored from the goal line against W&M. I still hope we play 22 and 42 of course, but just sayin...

VT BSEE '98, VT MSME '01

Technically, Marshawn did, too...it just got called back for a holding penalty, that Juice didn't need to get in.

Technically, it was an illegal formation...just sayin

Already?
Alright....
Frank utters a mere five "get after ya"s in the postgame conference
(In)Bud(WeTrust) eats a bowlful of Buckeyes before the game (not sure which, but neither could kill him) and still rallies the defense. He breaks 8 headsets in anger (which is actually good)
Fuller has 7 "not against DBU"s, and two INTs
The defensive line combines for 15 sacks.

Moving to the other sideline:
anOSU only cycles through to their 3rd QB (of the game) due to injuries by Maddy and Dadi (TM) pancakes.
LeBron doesn't have any charging penalties called against him yet travels four times(surprise!), but the refs force him to sit down because an old, rich alumnus is upset he cant see over his monstrous frame.

Josh Sweat inks to VT Sunday morning at 10:47AM EDT

Im sorry, to whom are you referring. I go by no such name, sir. (you got me)

I sure hope you aren't denying the name so proudly bestowed upon you. HokieBone12 and I would be heartbroken to see you move on from your wonderful name!

LAR '12 MVBones Go Hokies! USA!

*sigh* this much is true: it better than "Poops".

what's up toots mcgee

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

1. We win.
2. McKenzie and Williams rush for over 200 combined yards and two TDs.
3. Greg Stroman or Deon Newsome return a punt or kickoff into opposing territory, maybe even get a score.

The city I live in is celebrating it's 250th birthday Saturday. This day is a very big celebration each year and basically the entire city starts drinking in the morning and doesn't stop until Sunday evening. What sucks is that the game starts at 4am Sunday.
My bold prediction: I start drinking in the morning and pace myself fairly well (because I really want to remember this game) up until around dinner time. Around this time people I don't know hear me speaking English and start offering me shots of vodka in which I can't refuse. Around 4 in the morning I stumble home and watch the game with a few friends cheering so loud that people in my building come and join us. I wake up the next morning wondering what the hell happened last night, go on the internet to watch the replay of the Hokies taking out anosu 34-13 and the top story on espn is "Alabama Steamrolls to Victory as SEC goes undefeated in week 2"

Nasdrovia (or however you say it and spell it). Cheers!

How do you say Hokies in Russian? BTW, remember Tech is always on the look out for student athletes. Probably more than a few over there.

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. " Rocky B.

Nasdrovia (or however you say it and spell it). Cheers!

Here ya go (it's Polish): Na zdrowie

I would guess it is still pronounced the same but spelled .
Edit. I guess Russian letters have been sanctioned on this site.

Or this site doesn't use UTF-8 international fonts.

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. " Rocky B.

Bozhey moi!

the top story on espn is "Alabama Steamrolls to Victory as SEC goes undefeated in week 2

I have to say, this is the boldest prediction of them all with Vandy playing Ole Miss tomorrow, but it wouldn't be surprising if that's how ESPN tried to spin it.

bold move

1. We run right at the big lineman, Bosa, on the first play for 9 big yards and set the tone that 'we ain't scared'.
2. We get scores from our defense and special teams.
3. After we win, the media doesn't make excuses for OSU.

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. " Rocky B.

Ok, I've seen some bold predictions on this thread, but number 3?
old school

The perception of media treatment of OSU is pretty funny. Ask someone in Columbus and we'll likely tell you how much the media hates us. Sure, ESPN is always keeping us in a story, even if it's a reach or about the band. However, they also run titles like "Bama Rolls WVU" after a 10 point struggle, versus "OSU Survives Navy" after we cover the spread in a 17 point victory.

In the spirit of bold predictions:
** OSU sacks Brewer 6 times
** The Bucks have 2 100+ yard rushers and 1 100+ yard receiver
** Josh Sweat gets weak in the knees after watching OSU win, seeing The Shoe and meeting LeBron and commits to the Buckeyes.

Good luck, Hokie fans! In all honesty, I've always had tons of respect for VT. It was one of just 3 places I applied to for college, ultimately the distance was a bit much for me (and SEC bag men paid me handsomely to come to UK, before transferring back home to OSU), but VT's campus is still the nicest I've seen.

Ooh these are bold.

Ah, good picks. Let me rebutt (sorry, cooler reference).

That 100 yd receiver is the QB that tossed the ball.
The pass bounces off the helmet of the TE and is caught 2 yds behind the line of scrimmage, right on the goal line and the Pac12 refs award him a touchdown because the ball crossed the plane, without recognizing it's the wrong plane.
The stats guys can't figure it out and award him a TD from his own goal line, necessitating a 100 yd gain.

I'm not sure why the Horeshoe requires 2100+ ushers but, I guess if everyone behaves themselves, it's fine.

As soon as someone tells him LeBron did not even go to college, Sweat decommits. Saying" I never was comfortable with the idea of being a venomous nut."

This is going to be great for the ACC.

That NCAA 14 glitch becomes real?

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Respect for coming on here with those predictions...

Here are my predictions:
1-Barrett completes the unprecedented feat of 4 butt fumbles, 3 are recovered by the Hokies.
2- The Bucks leading rusher is their punter, Cameron Johnston, who runs for 7 yards on a busted punt snap.
3-Hokies win and Josh Sweat disses LeBron on the sideline, saying "You didn't even go to Ohio State, you don't play football, and you got your ass kicked by the San Antonio Spurs anyway...GO HOKIES!"

VHokie

Number three all depends on how we win. If we go in there and somehow dominate the game in full old school beamer ball fashion but with better Offense...I think they would truly see us as a force. If we barely squeak by than we would have won due to Miller being out. Only one player can do so much.

“I hope that they’re not going to have big eyes and pee down their legs so to speak,” -- Bud Foster

So true on the how we do it. My preference is that we get a win by one point and all those young players learn to handle big time settings and the heat that come with them. This game is as much about the future as it is Saturday night. Just do our best, however good that is (and a little luck will always be appreciated too :-).

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. " Rocky B.

Let's try these

1) Brewer looks like a champ all night long and is unfazed by any pressure they bring. He completes 70%+ passes and rushes for 40+ yards.

2) Shai rushes for 150+ yards.

3) Good guys win by at least 6.

ESPN shows Lebron James after every Ohio State touchdown

then one more time after we win the game

We could probably turn that into a drinking game... Every mention and camera shot of Lebron during the game is a drink.

I think everybody playing the game would die from alcohol poisoning before the end of the third quarter.

It's funny he will be there. Hey kids I was successful without going to college.

1) Kendall Fuller jumps OVER someone for an INT
2) Ford has a 40+ yd TD
3) We are ranked next week

VT BSEE '98, VT MSME '01

1) We win
2) LeBron James secretly eats Urban's post game papa johns behind his back
3) Josh Sweat commits to VT

1. atleast 3 VT touchdowns are called back for a block in the back all on lebron

2. if lebron is there then guess who else will be there... maybe he helps recruit for a tech...even if it is the wrong one

3. per urban meyers orders the band will do this at halftime but the flag will be white..... there is no 2nd half

1. We win.
2. AFN figures out their shit, and the game is broadcast live in Afghanistan so our Hokies can watch.
3. I spend Thanksgiving taunting my family that live in Columbus and are Ohio State fans.

None of these are bold, just what I want to happen.

Live for 32. Ut Prosim. Let's Go, Hokies.

So if somehow by some freak accident we lose. Do you skip Thanksgiving and just eat a turkey leg on Black Friday in Lane Stadium instead?

They're also Alabama fans. Now, I have the Tech game and the Iron Bowl from last year. So much win.

Live for 32. Ut Prosim. Let's Go, Hokies.

1. Bucky Hodges actually grows another foot allowing brewer to just chuck everything in the air
2. Sam Rogers tosses a touchdown pass to Sam Rogers thereby allowing several angels to get their wings
3. Marshawn Williams and Shai McKenzie fuse into the most dominating running back ever resembling Walter Payton, Jim brown, and Barry Sanders all in one

Pain is Temporary, Chicks Dig Scars
Glory is Forever, Let's Go Hokies!!

1. Sam Rogers blocks every field goal attempt out of the Shoe.
2. Kendall Fuller's towel also intercepts the ball adding to his 8 interceptions during the game.
3. ESPN catches Lebron sneaking over to the Hokies sideline wearing VT gear claiming he's taking his talents to Blacksburg.

LAR '12 MVBones Go Hokies! USA!

1. Sam Rogers blocks every field goal attempt out of the Shoe.

As I read/imagined this, my drink almost went through my nose.
Its plausible considering Sam Rogers doesn't need red bull to grow wiiings and he has the strength of four Hulks.

1. Maddy/Dadi are the DL that everyone are talking about after this game.
2. Ohio State plays two QB's.
3. Michael Brewer is compared to Russell Wilson.

Italics Predictions:

1. Special Teams cost us 7.
2. David Wang ends up with grass stain on his butt, even though Ohio St plays on FieldTurf.
3. We miss Miqual Baquee at LB.

I got #3 right, Blackledge did it right at the end of the game, saying Wilson at Wisconsin was a similar situation. He was talking about how Wilson fit in with the offense and team quickly, not so much about their similarities as players. But that will come as Brewer protects the ball more and scrambles some.

Three Bold Predictions:

1. At least one of each of the following for the Hokies:
a. Kick-off return TD
b. Punt return TD
c. Interception return for TD
d. Fumble recovery for a TD.
2. TJ Barrett gets sacked early in the game, 2-3 times, and is so scared to return, he fakes an injury so OSUs third string is forced to enter the game.
3. Lots of this: fans
and this:
upset
and this:
yes

Prediction 4:
Bucky Hodges, having grown to gargantuan height, decides to try the Shoe on...it fits him perfectly, sending 104,000 fans scrambling for cover so they aren't crushed by his giant foot.

Hokies win by forfeit...

VHokie

Well that's not very bold

no doi

1 - Brewer is sacked less than 3 times
2 - We finish with more than 400 yards of total offense
3 - We block a kick

1- we block a kick
2- defense holds Ohio State to 250 total yards
3- Beamer dances after game

1. Beamer dances with Buzz on the midfield logo after the game
2. Bucky Hodges blocks a field goal into the stands then does the Mutumbo finger wag
3. I get very drunk

3. ESPN doesn't show LeBron once

27-10 Hokies

Barrett throws two picks to Fuller (one of which is at the end of the game and returned for a TD to seal it), the other is to Di Nardo

Shai and Marshawn rush for 110 and 150 yards respectively. But our 2 offensive TD's will be to Malleck and Stanford.

Rip his freaking head off!

This is oddly specific

"Go Hokies!" - Thomas Jefferson
@HaydenDubya

1. Bucky Hodges scores two TD's
2. Freshmen RB's combine for over 200 yards rushing
3. Defensive touchdown

We win the toss, and in a bout of unconventional decision making we elect to receive. the kickoff goes to Demitri Knowles who takes it to the house.

Ohio State gets the ball, and attempts a run to the left side, where a combination of Kyshoen Jarrett and Chase Williams knock the ball loose, and Derek DiNardo picks it up and runs it all the way back this time.

Ohio State gets the ball back but a holding penalty on the return put the ball on the 7 yard line. Barrett drops back to pass but a bull rush by Dadi forces the ball loose, where it is pushed out of the back of the end zone for a safety.

on the ensuing drive, Barrett gets a pass off, but Fuller is there to make the pick, and after a leveling block by Jarrett takes it in.

on the next series Barrett attempts another throw but that gets picked off by Facyson with an acrobatic catch.

up by a score of 23-0, the Hokies offense takes the field for the first time. the first play call is a play action pass out of a 2TE, 2 receiver set, that is completed to Bucky Hodges who smashes his way into the end zone.

30-0 at the end of the first, the rest of the game is split 14-14. Hokies enter week 3 ranked in the top 15

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Obviously this would never happen. After the safety, OSU would free kick to us, so the offense would take the field for the first time only up 16-0.

1. Facyson returns an interception for a touchdown
2. Fuller blocks a field goal
3. After the game Urban Meyer is quoted saying, "This blows...I had forgotten how much it sucks to lose a regular season game."

1. Urban meyer's "offensive package" isn't all he made it out to be. 2 sweat shows up in hokie gear 3, lebron ends up on the tech sideline.

1 - Late in the 4th quarter with VT up by 24 and driving, Fuller feels so much pity that he switches sides for a play, leading to Brewer's only interception and a 99 yard return.
2 - Sam Rogers, who has no gene for "pity", clotheslines Fuller on the 1 yard line.
3 - After a 3 and out by our 2nd string, AJ Hughes closes out the scoring with a 93 yard drop kick.

Johnny, at 11warriors made a bold prediction:

I feel the defense will do a decent job at containing Michael Brewer, but ultimately Barrett will make some poor decisions, and an Ohio State team will find that without the comfort blanket of Braxton Miller, winning close games is a lot harder than it looks. 27-23 Hokies.

Many of the OSU readers are outraged.

I'm really impressed with elevenwarriors. Which is surprising because I always assumed their entire fanbase were the basis of the character of Kevin's older brother in Home Alone.

The fact that those guys are all predicting reasonably close games is very impressive. Those guys analytical and I've enjoyed popping over there to read their content in the last few days.

I really do think this is a one-possession game at the end. Not sure who ends up on the right side of it, but I've been thinking 24-20, hopefully in favor of our Hokies.

If we play this game close (within a TD) or shock the world and come away with the win, be prepared for ESPN to jump full on the "VT is back" bandwagon.

They desperately need the Coastal to present a good challenger for FSU in the title game this year, and with the rest of the funk in the division and Duke's injuries waiting to make an impact, we're the logical choice to shovel on the hype. Really, we just need to show them a reason, and ESPN will carry it through the offseason to get us ridiculous hype for the Labor Day opener against anOSU next year.

1. 2 TDs for Bucky Hodges
2. Both buckeyes and Hokies rushing attack held to less than 100 yards (excluding QB rushing)
3. Hokies create 3 buckeye turnovers

There are bold predictions.... and then there are BOLD predictions

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

In an odd twist of events Kendall Fuller actually gets tired of intercepting OSU passes and picks of a Brewer pass and returns it for a TD... the refs (after a meeting with Sam Rogers) decide to let the play stand

Not to be shown up by the Auburn Ball Boy, the VT Ball Boy outruns Isaiah Ford down the sideline after catching a pass on the VT 25 yard line.

My predictions:

2. One blocked OSU kick
3. No touchdowns by anyone, VT wins 12-9 on 4 FG.
4 A record number of VT fans are admitted to hospitals across the country with chest pains.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

I think a more realistic situation would be three safeties and two field goals.

3. No matter the outcome of the game, UVA will still stand firm that this is "their year" to defeat us.
*BONUS PREDICTION* 4. VT will defeat OSU at home next season by twice the margin of this season.
