OT: Student ticket question

I'm in the MV's, and therefore have never dealt with student tickets for football. My girlfriend goes to another college, and is coming into town for the ECU game. Can she get into the student section in Lane without a hokie passport? If not, is the checking of the passports very strenuous, or could she get away with using mine?

I used to bring visitors on borrowed student id's. that was along time ago though and we always matched girl to girl and boy to boy. I imagine it can still be done and is done all the time.

Do they have a way to match the hokiepassport to the ticket? Or do they just scan them?

that I don't know. too far removed from when I was there. We just showed id's. they may scan them now. though I would think the number of students that need to be scanned would be overwhelming. anyone else know?

Until 2011 football season, they didn't scan the hokie passport. I doubt they do it now, it just adds more time to let people in.

You need a regular ticket to get in if she doesn't have a hokie passport. Afterwards, print off a ticket for the student section and have her show it to the people standing by. After you get in, you can sit wherever the ticket says.

So basically, if I pick up a ticket for her in the lottery, and also purchase her a standard ticket, she can use the standard one to get through the gates of the stadium, and then the student ticket to get in the student section? And she won't have to show ID at that point? I'm trying to get her in the student section so she can sit with her friends from high school, otherwise she could just use the regular ticket.

It depends on which "student section" you want. Most lottery tickets will be South EZ (although you might luck out and get East). If you want to try to get her into the stadium with a student ticket, just make sure she has A hokie passport (doesn't have to be hers or anything, they just glance at it, so if she's blonde just get a blonde girl's HP and you'll be fine). Probably the best bet is to get a regular ticket and sneak her into the desired section using a copy of a ticket from that section.

If you pick up two tickets one lottery and one standard to use for one person you're wasting tickets. Buy her a standard ticket, then have one of her friends print off an extra copy of her ticket. She'll use the standard one to get into the stadium, and the copy of her friend's to get into the section. They didn't check ID's at sections last year, I hope they're not this year because that would ruin some of my plans.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

If she goes to UVA, make her transfer.

Just have someone print an extra copy of a ticket where you want her to sit and smuggle her into the section she wants she needs her own ticket to get through the gate but from there she can use the extra copy to get into seats

The only time they check hokie passport is at the entrance. Get her decked out in hokie gear and make sure she puts the borrowed hokie passport in her wallet where you can just flash the wallet and they should be able to see the hokie passport.

Tell her to act confidently and move as fast as possible. And when you are flashing you can have just part of the thumb/fingers on the picture so you are not really hiding the picture, but not showing the whole picture as well. Shouldn't be difficult.

Scan your passport, open the scan in Paint, and copy a picture of her onto the passport over your existing photo. Print it out and have her put it directly into the plastic section of a purse and you'll have no problems. Honor code violation? Possibly. But that worked for 4 years and there was never an issue with it.

Thanks for all the ideas guys, I think I have it worked out now.

There are some entrances that don't check for student ID's with a student ticket, specifically the corner closest to Cassell lot. We just went through there for the W&M game and they didn't even ask for student ID's. That said, it helps if you go in while the crowds are busiest as the scanners are just trying to get people in as fast as possible. Also, if you were to somehow just get turned around, just go out and get in another line. Someone is bound to let you in eventually. I think this year the focus is on butts in the seats. #whitgetsit

He's no good to me dead.

This is what I was going to say. I bought a student ticket for W&M and didn't show my hokie ID. It was the East entrance along stadium woods, right behind the 50yrd line. I had people hassle me over not having an ID and just went to another line and got in.

Similar to what myLane said. I'm a student and we went in the northeast gate where all the students go typically. They didn't check my hokie P or that of any of my friends (my friends from ODU and VMI got in fine no questions asked). And they don't check your ticket up on the east-stands student sections unless you falter and look like you need help going through the entrance. If you happen to get her a non-student ticket to some rando section, just get one of your buddies to reprint one for the east stands because they don't scan them at the actual entrance to the section, they just look at the number, and they'll never remember if that same exact number went through earlier. Hopefully that helps!

It just depends on how busy that gate is. If its busy (10-15 minutes before kickoff) they are just trying to get everyone in as fast as possible and dont care about the student ID. If you to the other side of the stadium (near stadium woods) the gate is never busy and they ask for a Hokie Passport (I've been asked to empty my pockets at that gate before).

You can also get in by printing out a Hokie Passport with a picture that somewhat resembles the person being snuck in. Just put it in one of those plastic student ID holders. They never scan or grab the student ID so they dont know its paper.

My cousin goes to UGA and their student tickets are loaded onto their student ID, so their ID is their ticket to each game. Someday they will decide to use Hokie passports as student tickets. It will be a sad day for graduates who still rely on student tickets and their old Hokie Passports.

"These people..are losing their minds!"

South Endzone gate and the gate at the corner of East and South almost never check Ids. Especially if you wait to 15-20 minutes before kickoff. I don't think I've had my id checked the past 2 years. And if the ticket is in the east just walk right by the ushers like you've already been there and returning from the bathroom or concessions.

I've seen girls get in with guys passports before.... they hardly check and if they do just flash it real quick

If you really want to cover your bases: copy your Hokie P, change the name and put her picture on it. Then print it on a piece of paper. Slide it into a transparent spot in a wallet and it's good to go. My friend did this for like 7 people visiting this weekend.
