UVA Hires 4 Assistant Football Coaches

Here's the most important stuff from the release.

Virginia head football coach Mike London announced today the hiring of four assistant coaches to fill the vacancies on the Cavalier staff. Joining the Virginia football program are former NC State and Boston College head coach Tom O'Brien, 32-year college coaching veteran Jon Tenuta and 12-year college special teams coach Jeff Banks. Former UVa quarterback Marques Hagans has been promoted to a full-time position after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Virginia the past two seasons.

London also announced cornerbacks coach Chip West will take over the responsibilities as Virginia's recruiting coordinator.

O'Brien will serve as the associate head coach for offense and also coach the Cavalier tight ends. Tenuta will be the associate head coach for defense/defensive coordinator. Banks will be the team's special teams coordinator and also coach the UVa running backs. Hagans will continue to coach the Virginia wide receivers.

UVA: Jefferson's biggest mistake

interesting

London hires a coach he could beat, and we may be going after someone that we could't beat (Hamilton). I like our approach better.

Who's better?

IMO, O'Brien is a better coach than London is. It just doesn't make sense to me; unless UVA is telling London "Do it this year, or we already have your replacement hired and in the system!"

With that said, it is a good hire for them. But they still have no chance at beating us. I mean, we are going to Beat Bama, become God, and then destroy UVA yet again.

This sucks....

I was hoping to hear that Stinespring, O'Cain, and Newsome were heading north.

O'Brien is a good coach

But I'm surprised to see him as TE coach not QB coach

For some reason....

....they didn't fire Bill Lazor. I think there is a very real chance that Jon Oliver got confused and fired the wrong coordinator.

Hires like this make you wonder what the plan is in Hooville. I would like to think they won't effect us but if you hire the coaches that will work for your system and players then you can be successful. I can see this working for them.

I'm surprised he didn't hire a clock management specialist.

Rip his freaking head off!

So, they now have 3 head coaches, is basically what this means. Looks like the way out the door is being paved for London.

It's going to be interesting

to see if Lazor and Ob end up butting heads and causing internal squabbles in the oh-so-happy-land of whooville. Implosion in 3....2....1...
