I think I speak for everyone who checks the internet every 5 minutes for news on the coaches when I say: "WHY IS NO ONE FIRED YET?"
To any prognosticators who know more than I do, please step in and assuage my fears. I'm starting to get the feeling that nothing is going to change.

Heard Stiney is going to Auburn to be their OL coach. Newsome going to JMU.
Can you say where? At one point I had heard this but the OL position had been filled.

Had heard earlier (not from same source) that Stiney was going to be the HC at Western Michigan. But they just announced another coach. Maybe that's why the word is he's staying to be recruiting coordinator (read: no one wants him).
I don't mind him being here as a recruiter.

I've been saying it for a few days and it's a pretty unfortunate thought, but I don't think any big changes are going to happen. I think Beamer is hoping this hatred for our offensive staff blows over and he's going to keep everyone.

This hatred is nothing new, it just happened to hit a peak this year because we actually lost a bunch of games because of it. I would much rather hope that this was an eye opener than anything else.

We've gone through this for years. Every year we call for major overhauls and we never get it, obviously this year is worse than others so it's more likely to happen, but I'm going to continue being cautious. I don't want to get my hopes up only to be disappointed.

Since the tail end of the season, I've heard from a few of you, privately, with connections that read the site that Newsome was out. There have been similar rumblings on Twitter and sites like coachingsearch.com. O'Cain being among Appalachian State's finalists for head coach says something.
I don't think nothing is happening, but I agree, waiting for the news is trying.
Ok, now I'm convinced. Was skeptical, but with Sherman news official, seems like everything else will probably fall into place. Now, the next step is to figure out when will Chip Kelly join the staff.

I've read a whole bunch of speculation about who the new OC and O-line coach could be, but haven't read much about WR coach candidates. Who are the possible candidates at this time?
If the Frankinator is making a power move and trying to bring in a big-name offensive coordinator, then it stands to reason he's freeing up spots for that coach to bring his people with him.

When I took a look it said he was the OC and QB Coach at Virgina Tech. Someone is messing with us. Wish I'd taken a screenshot.

and would be surprised for wholesale changes before National Signing Day....all the coaching changes could lead to our incoming class imploding which could set us back a couple years...especially if Bucky Hodges were to change his commitment with Newsome headed to JMU. For all the talk about Stinespring being the super recruiter, he only appears to have brought in two kids in this upcoming class. That would be Clark and Motuapuaka. Newsome actually brought in about five kids so that could hurt. Shane Beamer was the rock star as far as recruiting for this class goes though.

The amount of defection will be minimal. Unless VT hires a scrub for OC who couldn't talk his way out of paper bag.
Also, it is completely unfair to the incoming class to NOT make coaching changes until after signing day. The incoming class has the right to know who their coaches will be. If they don't like the new OC, they have the right to defect.

and I dont disagree with you but it happens quite frequently. Lets hope that it all turns out well and that we get a coaching staff in place with one direction on offense.
I think it is a mistake to wait till after signing day because then you end up with players upset at the fact that the coach they wanted left. Plus I want players that want to be Hokies and make our program great.

I have now started to compare Stiney with Gore. It seems to make sense to me. ...Plus gives me something to do while waiting FOREVER for the new coaching announcements.

Before or after.....
If a good hire is made before signing day, you could pull in some kids you might not have gotten otherwise, and you likely will keep most, if not all, of your verbals. If a good hire is made after signing day, you keep your recruits, but may miss on some who might have changed their mind. If a bad hire is made before signing day, you could see mass defections. A bad hire after signing day, you could end up with defections/transfers after a year.
It all depends on who is brought in....the better the hire, I think all the better to make an earlier announcement. With that in mind, I am in full support of CFB scheduling a press conference to announce Pep Hamiliton at noon today.
Oh, and keep in mind
that this applies only to offensive recruits. The other side of the ball shouldn't be affected, one way or the other.
Press Conferences
How long is the notification for a press conference usually? I feel like if they have a press conference, we will know from people like Andy Bitter, David Teel, Mark Gianotto and all the other beat writers right away and we can all jump to appropriate conclusions regarding the topic of the press conference.
It can vary
anywhere from an hour or two to the better part of a day.
Don't forget
TSL now has press credentials with the Athletic Department. So if a press conference is scheduled, they'll be one of the firsts to know.
I saw something online that says Hamilton is being considered for the Idaho head coaching job. I want to preface this by saying I have no clue how accurate it is. But just as a thought, would he come to Tech as an OC over having a chance at being a HC in D1?
