Question for French???

Over the course of the season, did you notice an improvement in the fundamentals and technique of the offensive line? Based off of last year with Grimes and this year with Searels, which coach had the guys up front performing the best? Do you think we will see a noticeable difference in year two with Searels? TIA

I may be wrong, but my gut feeling was that the line did improve some this year. But I think the difference was that where Logan could deliver a quick strike on a slant or seam, brewer could not. This seemed to allow defenses to feel safe sending the house against us.

Thanks for the question. I am working on a more detailed post (there are lots of irons in the fire with prep for the bowl game and recruit film reviews for the early enrollees) but my general observation is that the run blocking improved greatly once Teller was in the lineup and we started to see more variety in the execution of zone reads (pin and pull, more outside zone etc) .

Pass blocking continued to be a problem. I would have like to have seen more cup protection and better communication where blockers hand off stunting DL. That is the greatest area for needed improvement with Gibson's graduation. Gibson was solid down the stretch.

The demand for content this off season is at a peak with a strong recruiting class and demand for a look back at what went right/wrong in 2014.

So, since it is obvious that Teller improves the line so much, what kept him out? Are there still things that he is a liability at?

I haven't compared him as much with the other guys, but his wind up with his arms is elongated. Defenders can get into his body and he either loses leverage or takes a holding penalty. His center of gravity is still a bit high in pass protection.

All that being said, Teller was a top 5 guy all season, even with both Farris and Wang on the field the whole time. He creates space, even when he doesn't throw a textbook block.

I will say I noticed that a lot of holding penalties seemed to be by him.

Thank you. I know Billdozer is looking at giving us the ability to go all TV analyst on the film by circling players and drawing play design concepts. Every dollar will help.

Not to be "that guy" but I fully expect to see creative things like this:
