So on the surface, this does not look good at all. We'll have to see how this one plays out for sure but the gist is that he and a friend are charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class 1 misdemeanor. The investigation determined that they met two girls, age 14 and 15, via social media. Reports are that McKenzie and his friend had sex with the girls.

That's disappointing on so many levels. Seems pretty straightforward too if DNA matches.
Yep. Finding condoms at the scene can confirm who was involved. It's starting to look like Shai's promising career could be derailed very early by something other than injury.
Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh
well thank god JC came to life at the end of last season.. Enter Mcmillian or reid or mcclease?
This is terrible if true.
Man first Bucky does something dumb, then McKenzie one ups him. These guys need to get their crap together this is the most talented team we have had in a while but it won't even matter if the guys keep getting in trouble!
This is way, way worse than Bucky's though. Way worse.
Completely different level, one is just a dumb college mistake, the other is an actual disturbing crime!!
The point is they are doing what they shouldn't be doing felony or misdemeanor and if that's how they want to be then they aren't taking school or football seriously anyways, I read where other guys will study film or practice together in spare time and maybe it's not mandatory but I would hate for guys that want to be there get buried on the depth chart and leave and then the guys at the top aren't taking it seriously and they get kicked off the team then our depth once again sucks! I realize this is more serious than Bucky's screw up hence I said Shai one up'd him, it goes without saying that it's on a different level...
For some reason, your use of two exclamation points disturbs me.
Imoh'ed
Welp... That's disappointing
I would not be surprised if we've seen the last of Shai in a Hokies uniform. Sounds like the investigators caught him and his buddy red handed with evidence. If this holds up, there's no way Frank keeps him on the roster. Sex with a 13 to 15 year old is statutory rape... not good.
Yep. Especially after the Marcus Vick situation. He's done. What a shame.
Too bad he isn't a Qb, he'd have a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th chance.
This is one of those charges that even not at the felony level is hard to come back from.
Did we keep Marcus Vick after he got into similar trouble?
Maaaaaybe not the best example.
Frank isn't going to make that mistake again.
Especially after seeing how Jimbo and FSU have been crucified in the media for the handling of the Jameis case.
And how many games did Famous Jameis not start? one?
Jimbo could give a rat's ass about public opinion; all he wanted was a shot at another national title, and he got into the playoffs, so no one who roots for the Spear wrestled with any moral quandries, they got what they wanted.
That is quite the sweeping generalization there.
And the plot thickens for the loaded Hokie backfield.......
Well. We're gonna have to wait and see how this turns out, but as you said, on the surface doesn't look good.
Geez, man, just unacceptable. I have no particular issue with suspending him indefinitely until the charges are sorted out and then further punishment if he is convicted, maybe off the team... Hopefully he goes the route of Mike Imoh and not Marcus Vick and gets it together.
I'd say the route of Imoh because even after the 2nd and 3rd chances MV5 still didn't get his shit-for-brains situated. Worst ever waste of talent in the history of Hokiedom. Ever.
Ike Whitaker also comes to mind, though it sounds like he finally got his stuff together after college
Wasn't Ike's issue alcohol?
Ike came from a family with a history of alcoholism and eventually sought treatment for alcohol issues while in school.
Yes, and he has turned his life around. Great read:

Yeah it was, but the point was that MV5 was a waste of talent but as I said and GuitarMan stated, fortunately Whitaker has turned his life around since
If the victim is under 15 that is a felony. If they have evidence, they are looking at prison time and registering as a sex offender. What a way to screw up, dont know the facts but doesnt look good. Even if he didnt know the age, or was lied to or whatever, he has no defense.
Can we get break on anything? First injuries, and now this.....
Forget the break for us- this is a serious crime.
The level of stupid it takes to do that is off the charts. A 17 yr old is one thing, a 14/15 yr old is completely different and also completely apparent, quickly. Not to mention, as someone said above - it isn't necessary. Football player at VT? You don't 'have' to resort to that, there are plenty of options accessible.
After the horrendous handling of Marcus Vick by Frank Beamer, I'm just glad that we have new administration in place & that we don't get the same with McKenzie. Hopefully he will learn from his stupid choice, though history shows that normally doesn't happen.
Agree. 14/15 years old is unacceptable. I don't want to jump to conclusions but if this does turn out to be true I don't want him associated with VT football.
Yeah, even if this was a hookup initiated by Twitter or whatever social media outlet is the most popular among college kids, it doesn't fly. Within five minutes of conversation with a teen girl, if you are a college age guy you know whether she is late teens or early/mid-teens.
Not necessarily... girl I knew in high school easily could have passed for a 21 year old when she was a high school junior. Doesn't excuse it, I'm just saying that this stereotype isn't always accurate.
Guess we won't be discussing his redshirt situation anymore.
This made me laugh but it's so true.
Shai Who?
Damn Tinder
Any chance he was just testing the ACL?
If that stands for the Age of Consent Ligament, then it failed.
Makes me sick. I am actually surprised he is only charged with a misdemeanor and not a felony.
I think we may have seen the last of Shai in a Hokie uniform.
Where did you find this glorious gif? I've seen it on here before (during football season whenever a player makes a dipshit move) and have wanted to post it so many times. Always makes me laugh. Even in a loss. Please tell me where I can find it.
Here you go HokieMcGruber

Nice knowing you.
Actually, if this is all true, then, maybe not. I suppose we'll have to see how this plays out. Doesn't look good.
