Erick Green left it all out on the court today

In my book, this is the image of the season.

The kid played his heart out today, and thankfully he seems to be alright.

Put his jersey up there with Coles, Bristow and Curry. He deserves it. Going through this crap, he's earned it.

Rip his freaking head off!

Don't forget Custis!

I love Virginia Tech, regardless of the outcome of every game.

Yup, my bad. I knew I was forgetting someone.

Rip his freaking head off!

I've been saying all year he needs his name up there. Definitely one of the greats, today just shows his love and ability for the game

Tyrod did it Mikey! Tyrod did it!!

Jesus. Somebody step up so Erick can get some goddamn rest.

EG

This is the type of commitment you need from every player on the team to have a great team. We currently do not have those types of players. It isn't something you learn, it is something in you and hopefully JJ finds these players.

I see absolutely no reason the question the heart of our team's players. Do they struggle to shoot? Do they struggle to stay in front of their man on defense? Do they struggle to catch the ball? Yes.

But there's a difference between being able to do something athletically, and having the will to do something athletically. I see zero evidence of our team lacking drive.

Frankly, I find it pretty sad for someone to question the character of young men they probably have never met in person because of physical short-comings.

I'm pretty sure he works with the team in practices so he sees how much effort they are giving. I remember him saying he worked inside Cassell.

What, the practices that JJ has said is less intense in order to rest players legs? Those practices?

Going to be pretty hard to tell how much effort players are giving when they aren't asked to go all out.

Practices

They really aren't any less intense than before, they just are shorter in duration. And that really wasn't what I was talking about, because they really do ball out in practice. Sometimes practice is more fun to watch than games because they get real physical with each other. Then come game time they seem to lose that physicality.
If they quit hanging their head after every bad play and start winning these games they need to win then I'll believe they have the same level of heart as EG, which I'm sure you saw by how he was curled over on the bench, how much he cares. You need that level, not just when they feel like giving it. Every hustle play, 50-50 ball, rebound, etc.

I'm not gonna question the effort of these players, they look to me like they're leaving it all out there. But they seem immature and really just don't have much talent. Robert Brown has no sense of what a good shot is. And I'm sorry to say it, but JJ just doesn't look like a good offensive coach. We don't have any good sets on offense. I know this season isn't his fault, it's Jim Weaver's fault, but you still should be able to draw up some plays. Our only inbounds play is to chuck the ball down the court and hope Erick comes down with it.
