Andrew Brown, a consensus top DT in the 2014 class just tweeted out his top ten schools. They are, in no particular order Ohio State, Michigan, VT, UVA, UNC, Clemson, Florida, Florida St, Alabama, & GiT.

It would be an amazing get if VT could get him. It would truly be "next-level" recruiting, and a sign that the program is taking the next step.
This next year, both on the field and off, will have a lot to say about whether or not Beamer gets another shot at a MNC before he hangs his cleats up.

Imagine how strong VT's 2014 DL recruiting class could be...
Vincent Mihota has already committed. Xavier Burke is committed and he will either be a TE or DE. VT is top 5 for D'shawn Hand and in the top 10 for Andrew Brown. I believe hokies are in a good spot for Derrick Nnadi.
Add to that we already have some good young talent on the team or committed (Ekanem and Teller especially). I feel like championships are won through a strong defensive front so I'm pretty excited.
Don't forget Jalyn Holmes. According to his twitter, he nearly committed during the spring game last year.

If he almost committed at a non-game, he is going to love it when the game isn't cancelled.
You also gotta have an offense. And we don't know how much our quarterback play is gonna drop off for sure until 2014.
Offense? Isn't that when the D gets a pick 6 or we block a kick and return it for a td?

Something tells me a lot more of these blue chip recruits will be looking at VT, with the "staff refreshing" going on right now.

What's it gonna take to land him and Hand? Hopefully they can realize what a special impact they can have to our Defense with what we have recruited the past couple seasons. They need to send guys like Wyatt Teller on these recruiting trips. Seems like he brings lots of fire! I really think they would all compliment each other quite nicely. And put our D back where it should be.. On TOP!
I like to think that if we land hand early, like say the spring game, it will make a big difference in our overall recruiting for 2014. seeing the best player in the country commit to us so early should be noticed by some of our other recruits. does this really make a difference or just wishful thinking on my part?
Something tells me Hand won't commit by Spring Game but I fully anticipate something by the Fall. I realize he will want to take officials to see games and such, but seeing as how he's currently on a break from recruiting to focus on school, I could see him wanting to get it out of the way early to focus on his final year of high school.
Back to Back Classes
I believe if we can land some of these top notch kids like everyone is talking about it could be the start of a Championship caliber team. We need to be able to reload like the Alabama's, LSU's etc... star power can go along way in pulling in future talent. I think we are off on the right foot with this class.
I know defense wins championships...
and I hope we keep getting these high caliber defensive recruits however I would love to see us start getting a couple of these WR's or Ath's in the top 100 as well. The offense has a lot of catching up to do to the defense(they always have some) and bringing in these high school quarterbacks who need a year or maybe two to learn the WR position isn't getting us to where we need to be in my opinion.
