Saturday night at 8pm in Cassell, we are going to see the beginning of the end of one of the greatest seasons by an individual player in Virginia Tech Basketball History.
Our record aside, what Erick Green is doing is Legendary. As already mentioned by a better writer than I, (http://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2013/february/27/week-was-green-vs-nai...) his stats are terrific, but he is so much more than his numbers. The effort he continues to give every game, while receiving very little help from the rest of the team, is more than any of us could expect with the "Me-First" attitude that seems to have permeated college basketball. HE PASSED OUT AGAINST GEORGIA TECH (and scored 28 points).
So, do what ever you need to do to get to Cassell tomorrow night. They do the ceremony before the game, so give yourself time to get in before 7:45. If you don't have a student-ticket, go to the stand-by line (side door on the practice facility side of Cassell). They'll be giving out tickets until they run out. Make sure you wear Green over your Maroon and Orange during the pregame and give him the support that he's earned during his career.

Well said ...
Hokies need to get their asses to Cassell tonight. This guy has poured his heart into this season.
Consider how rare it is for us to have such a great player. Savor the opportunity to be able to watch him play live. AND WEAR GREEN
Is the wear green movement actually a thing?
I've seen it in a few places now.
Yes, even VT Athletics is promoting it.
very superstitious
Today I found out I don't have any green shirts, so I just wore some green beads. Glad it worked out
I cannot think of a better Hokies to have his jersey retired than Erick Green. His contribution and unselfishness is what embodies the "Ut Promis" spirit.
I told him via a tweet to make tonight one to remember.
Obviously
Green
Classy move by Brownell at the end of the game- with 12 seconds left his players were done fouling, but he saw Green with the ball and yelled for his team to foul him so Green could come out of the game. Quite the season for Erick.
So that's what happened
I was wondering why they kinda waited 5 seconds and then went for the foul.
I was thinking the same thing. Very classy move by their coach. I was afraid that he'd miss the second free throw and then he wouldn't be able to come out of the game.
Thanks for the memories Erick. In a year filled with disappointment for Tech sports he was the long shining star. It was truly a privilege to watch him live this year.
It ain't over yet, guys. #ACCTOURNAMENTCHAMPS
THANKS ERICK
Its been real
Duke looking past us?
Hopefully Duke will be drained from beating Miami and looking ahead to Tar Heels next weekend. If Brown continues to be aggressive going to the hoop, CJ keeps playing like he is doing, Eddie plays smart and the rest of the team plays well, Green can show that he deserves more consideration as Player of the Year and goes off on Duke. This quote below regarding Kelly's performance yesterday could have easily been said about Green. He took 12 shots and scored 29 points.
"Me saying spectacular or whatever doesn't do his performance justice," said Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski after the game. Added Miami counterpart Jim Larranaga: "He was sensational from start to finish. He scored 36 points on 14 shots. That's … outrageous."
