The good folks at /r/cfb had an Entrances competition over the past few weeks, Tech demolished the competition and we won :). Nothing can beat Enter Sandman, and the videos got me hyped for Labor Day!

BRB, I need to go change my shorts.
In other news: rain is wet, bud foster is a genius, and UVa sucks.
Another chip away at Howard's Rock
My wife has always contested their claim for the best 20 seconds in football...
Is it just me, or does Jon Hamm look a lot like Christopher Meloni? Never noticed it until I saw this gif, oddly enough.
I'll never forget the scene there when our guys were yelling at Clemson and waving them on down the hill to the field, then beating them. Classic. Now...I wish my increasingly age addled brain could remember when that game was. Howard's rock never mean all that much to me before, but it was iconic. We took the magic off of it that day.
Pretty sure this was in 2006, where Beamerball was in full fury.
2007 was the game played at Clemson. The 2006 game was home when they were ranked #10. We punched them in the mouth both times.
I can confirm this. 2006 was my freshman year and the Clemson game was my first night game in Lane. I will never forget it. I rushed the field too :D
This is true. I went to both. We need to get back to beat downs of klempson
I couldn't agree more. I met my girlfriend the night before we played Clemson in 2011 in Blacksburg. I'm pretty sure one of my opening lines involved us beating down Clemson. You know, regular dirty talk for Hokies.
Agreed. Looks like my memory ain't that sharp either!
Wow, we won without even using our very own MStrawther's video
I think in one of the earlier round threads the OP said he only wanted videos from the stands and not hype videos.
Is that a trick?

Is it possible to be in the stands and not be hyped?
(wfu doesn't count.)
Oh, so NOW you're gonna start crediting other people's videos...
(har har?)
ha.. thanks for the #avclub love and credit

Later in life when someone asks me what pure awesomeness looks like, I will refer them to this video.
Oh good, we beat Clemson. I'd been following most of the day, didn't think the results would come in so soon
This probably doesn't deserve its own thread, but I was browsing r/cfb after checking that poll out, and apparently the president of UAB is holding a presser tomorrow and might be reversing course on ending the football program. What a cluster.
I imagine he caught a lot of backlash, and I believe it was uncovered that shutting down the program was unnecessary.
Also, I'm wondering how many other tkp'ers browse reddit
My productivity level would be negative if I let myself down that rabbit hole. I just let the rest of y'all take the hit and post anything worthwhile here.
I signed up for reddit one day about 4 or 5 years ago. I spent 3 straight work days on there. I'm an information addict. There's just too much stuff I'm interested in and I have this weird need to stay current on all of it. I just couldn't have a life with reddit.
That's what got me on, there's a sub for everything!!! Hello r/space, r/collegefootball, r/nfl, and various tech related sub reddits.
I browse Reddit quite a bit but I really don't comment all that much
Not misssing much. its a bunch of homer fans especially those golden domers. Some guy thinks Texas ND is a better week 1 game than OSU vs VT. its actually quite amusing.
This prime time rematch with National Champion Ohio St. is our best opportunity for landing a live Metallica performance at Hokie Game!
Before last year I thought the Battle at Bristol would be our best chance for landing Metallica.
Lets Go Whit, dial it up!
So we were a 16 seed...
The seeds were generated randomly.
Nothing on reddit is "random" /s
It was random fwiw. I asked the same thing in the reddit thread and the maker told me.
VT basketball would kill for a 16 seed
Ouch.
Too soon, man, too soon. I'm still stinging from that.
So is this guy,
I think he's doing ok
Sounds like something to celebrate and there is nothing better then a little soft jazz to start the work week off.
As soon as I put it up I regretted it immediately but due to my high moral fiber I will not hide my shame...
Fantastic!
OK, Let's fix this:

there is also a lullaby version as well that I used to play for my first son when he was a baby. It was cool but also eerily creepy as well....
Wow interesting. I might have to save this for something
If LOLUVA used Enter Sandman, they would use this Version
Not to be a homer or anything but I was never impressed with Clemson's entrance. I don't get all the hype around it. Doesn't seem that impressive to me on TV where there were definately times that watching VT's entrance on TV gave me goosebumps.
What? You dont love grown men running gingerly down a hill while you get to watch longingly at hundreds of balloons float away? ....wait...so their entrance is meant for people with the mentality of 4 year olds! It all makes sense!
ha ha....exactly
Didn't the nickname "Most exciting 20 seconds" come from a non serious or sarcastic comment from a reporter? I can't remember if I actually read that somewhere or some dolt on reddit just made it up.
I too was not impressed with Clemson's entrance. I went to a game (I don't remember which year(2012?)) and was thoroughly un-impressed by the whole game atmosphere, entrance included.
Granted, it was a noon game against us when we weren't very good so there wasn't a whole lot for the crowd to be excited about. The entrance was underwhelming and the crowd was never very loud. They would get sort of loud occasionally on 3rd down but it was nothing like Lane.
That being said, I still think that leading up to the game Clemson's tailgating and pre-game atmosphere is pretty darn good. It's a tough place to beat when it comes to tailgating. And I'm sure they get amped for big time night games (but who doesn't) but the one game I went to was severely lacking in the game-time-atmosphere department. Honestly, though, I have been to some similar games at VT (WKU) where the crowd just really isn't into the game and the stadium is pretty tame to the point that carrying on a conversation with the person next to you is about as difficult as beating LOLUVA at football.
I went down to Clemson for both of the VT games, and neither time was I impressed. Even as a late afternoon/evening kickoff revenge game in '07, it was a snoozefest.
I actually went twice to Death Valley- once when they played Wake Forest I think at noon and once against Georgia at night.
Against WF it was pretty tame, but it was rainy so I don't really blame them. The Georgia game though was amazing, up there with Enter Sandman for me IMO. It was electric, something I only really felt in Lane before that moment.
As far as "excitement," there's always a chance to see this fail:
I'm legitimately shocked that some kid hasn't wrecked an ankle or a knee at some point doing this.
Is that really considered an exciting entrance? The cannon was pathetic, there was no hype, and that cracked out tiger let the flag touch the ground.
I dont really remember too much the game I went to at Clemson but it must not have been that intimidating since Marshall won.
Yeah, was that a firework attached to a hand truck? I mean come on!
The absurdity of this live is even more pathetic. The crowd can get some noise up for sure during games, especially at night but their entrance? weak as shit
I remember watching this live and thinking how ridiculous and bloated the whole thing was. I almost thought Musburger's opening words were sarcastic. You file the entire team onto buses just to drive from the locker room halfway around the stadium, then get off and run down a hill to a flurry of balloons. It was even more hilarious when they did this later in the season vs FSU and were promptly outmatched from the beginning. I figured they practiced the entrance more than their gameplan.
I guess they have to hype it and I guess if you're a fan it's pretty cool but, the whole thing looks too contrived. They line up and wait at the rock? In full view of everyone then the hill is so steep the players can't run down it, they have to skip.
So, a bunch of rough, tough hyped up football players touch a rock then skip down a hill towards a bunch of orange balloons.
Emasculating.
Most of the clemson players:
