Thanks to a 3 game sweep of the 'Hoos during the regular season, the Hokies earned college baseball's most coveted title last night with a 4-2 loss by Vanderbilt in Omaha.

Goes right in the moral victory case with our transitive football title for beating * at da shoe! GO HOKIES!
So let this be a lesson for all future sports teams, LOSE to the Hokies and win a NC!
IF we can only convince 15 teams of that next season...
happened for OSU twice last year. Football and wrestling.
We were a layup away from pulling off the trifecta.
Fuck Virginia
Beat me to it. Hearing about them winning put me in a bad mood this morning
Weirdly, I hate Vanderbilt more.
They're pretentious douche bags, too. I just like them because they hate UT.
Well if i hated every team that disliked UT, then I'd hate every school in the country.
Read this as "Transvestite CWS title." Expected something else.
I agree with alum, fuck uva.
That is three sports in one year that we have beaten the eventual national title holder every time we played them. OSU football, OSU wrestling, UVA baseball.
For whatever that is worth...
Are we the Good Luck Chucks of collegiate sports?!?!?
And if not for a missed shot at the buzzer, you could add Duke basketball...
Hating uva is an everyday affair here at my house. Now I hate Vandy for not taking care of MY needs in this particular matter, about which I shall speak no more...aloud.
#MissionAccomplished
We should print up t-shirts.
on the bright side (if there is one), this should keep the hoos from caring about football for another 11 years....
I wish we could have nice things.
My response to anyone at my work who even mentions UVA today:
FUCK UVA!!
Wuck the Fahoos.
They certainly couldn't have chosen a better time for a streak, particularly given how average their season was.
OK, you got me back in the conversation with that. I have a Wuck the Fahoos button I bought on the way to a uva game at Lane decades ago. Bought it from a dude with two galvanized buckets of buttons. One with Go Hokies, one with Wuck the Fahoos. I made that damn button famous on the 50 yd line of Scott Stadium for several years during a streak of home and home trades with some uva friends. I was finally told, after Groh showed up, that me and my button were hereby resigned to being banned from Scott by my high rollin' lawyer buddies there, after one too many complaints by higher rollers sitting nearby, but I will always be proud to wear the Wuck the Fahoos button and will hope that some other shady entrepreneur will show up with a couple of galvanized buckets of them and dodge the coppers long enough to get them back into circulation. Thanks for the reminder!
I hate the Wahoos too and you can be sure this will be brought up whenever anything about football comes up. I don't know if this has been brought up on these boards or not but, techsideline.com has a great article out on the topic. Olympic Sports between schools are not on an even playing field. Have you wondered why Standford, UVa, Florida, etc. are so good at all Olympic sports.... well the main reason as to why is due to their endowment size. Basically, schools with large endowments have an advantage because they are able to give more need based and merit based scholarships on top of the max athletic scholarships Olympic sports are allowed to give. Thus, more scholarships allows them to pull in a greater number of elite talent. It's disheartening to learn but, at the same time explains so much. I hate when hoos bring up their Olympic sports success but, now that I know that the reason just goes back to them being the "rich" snobby kids it makes me feel a little better. Read the article on techsideline.com, it is very interesting.
UVa baseball has nothing to do with their endowment. That program was on the chopping block a decade ago because of futility and a complete lack of interest. Then, Michael Crichton writes them a huge check right before he died to purely fund the baseball program and suddenly they're a powerhouse.
They didn't build shit. Much like the pretentious douchenozzles that infest that god for saken student body, that baseball program was reborn with a silver spoon in hand thinking they hit a triple in the game of life when they were born.
I thought the expression was "born on third base and think they hit a triple"
Ahh, yeah... that's it
Rich guy funding baseball or rich guy growing the endowment. Basically wahoo Olympic Sports are at a greater advantage because they have more financial backing in the form of available scholarship money. Read the article it makes a lot of sense. In the case of UVA Baseball they not only have the endowment for help but they also had huge private donations. So they are at an even greater benefit. This isn't just something that I made up or thought of. Came from the article and is supported by fact. Anybody that played a D1 non-revenue sport in college would have a lot of insight on how scholarships are awarded. If VT can only provide you a 50% scholarship but, UVA can provide you 75%, most people are going to go play for UVA. VT is at a disadvantage. The article interviews the VT pitching coach and he explains the disadvantage VT has compared to competing schools (i.e. UNC, UVA, etc).
I read "I hate the Wahoos" and that was enough for me!... Welcome to TKP!
Crichton? I thought John Grisham was the author of their feast.
Oh shit, was it Grisham... Damn, I had my only popular in the 90s authors confused...
then again, I should have known the pedophile would be the UVa booster...
Wooooow
'splain?
Click on the word "pedophile."
You are braver than I am...but I'm at work....
Its a legit news story. Mr. Grisham has some, umm, err, interesting views on child porn and those who watch it.
I feel like red alarms will go off if I click it lol
And while I may have been flip with my post, I admit that I have not heard JG tagged with pedophile. And well, I've been around long enough to know what the word means. Seemed like a throw out and I didn't know what it was about. Am I the only one in the dark on this?
Thank you for letting me know it wasn't Crichton. It's hard enough hating Tina fey, I'm not sure I could handle hating Jurassic Park
