I graduated in 2011 and want to buy a class ring (not that I actually have $$).
Starting that year Tech began offering the ring with a center Hokie Stone. Does anyone on here have one or have a good picture of one?

Celestrium

Here is the link to the ring site.......I wonder if the celestrium is a cop out?
I could really care less if it is worth a ton of money, I just want it to look cool and be sentimental.
Holy S&#T!!! i got the 40DWT in 10K for like $450 or so in class of 2002! prices have more than doubled!? That said the Hokie stone is awesome, and i would have done it if it were available. I also couldn't tell you the last time i wore my ring. i got fat, it no longer fit, i stopped wearing it, now i'm back to my "playing weight", but no longer interested in wearing jewelry beyond the requisite band on my left ring finger...
question on the Hokie stone, can you have it engraved? ie VT logo or fraternity letters?
I doish
My ring is a hokiestone (dark not light), but it seems to have become significantly darker after it came back from repair. I'll try and take a pic when I get off work.
(For interest, at about 28 PWT I believe, 10K Gold Hokiestone ran 1600ish at current time)
Not sure if this is going to work
Here, should give you some idea.
HI SCOTT
I agree with Bud Tyler who is saying hi to Bud Scott.
Mine's Hokie stone and I love it. Looks cool and even though it's not as shiny, I have yet to meet someone (VT student/grad/etc or not) who doesn't think it's an awesome and unique way to set your ring. If I can get a picture in the near future, I'll put it up here.
Great!
I look forward to seeing the pictures!
I'm currently waiting on mine to come in, and it has dark Hokie stone. It looked really sweet when I tried it on.
I'm also a 2011 grad and I got the light Hokie stone. Best decision ever. Hope this picture helps!
Just a heads up
Both me and a friend of mine who got the 2011 Hokie Stone rings found that the stones cracked easily if they were hit not that hard. You can get them repaired by balfour, though.
Sorry to revive an old thread.
Does anyone know how common it is to get a class ring as a VT graduate student? How about as a distance learning graduate?
Hey, if you pay money as a student and take classes one way or another get a class ring! The only thing I would say is if you are taking it as distance learning graduate you must make a pilgrimage to Blacksburg, attend a football game, go downtown at least once, and hike up the cascades. Then you can wear it with pride. I love my rings so glad I got them, my father was a Hokie and my grandfather was a Hokie and they have their rings.
Make that pilgrimage, man
I appreciate the response. I'm actually an out-of-state season ticket holder and HC member that has considered VT my second home since Loren Johnson threw me his wristband and Al Clark signed my football back in 1997 or so (hence the user name). I'm AD military and had to go elsewhere to finish my BA. Now that I'm a prospective grad student - and I've reclassified to an IT-related field from a more tactical one - I have another chance to get the degree to match my O&M blood. It just so happens that Virginia Tech has the #2 ranked Masters in Information Technology program in the country, behind USC, and I've worked very hard to make sure I have the resume to safely gain admission.
I LOVE the fact that Hokie Stone is an option for the ring, and a VT ring means a lot in my line of work (three-letter intel agency).
From what I have heard it is very common for graduate students to get class rings, especially if they didn't get one from the school they got their undergraduate degree.
Thanks, man. I definitely want this one. I'm proud of my undergrad degree, but the choice of school was utilitarian and I have very little connection there. This one means a lot more to me.
this gives me the sads.....I left my ring at some girls a year after I graduated and could never get it back. It was a weird story the way it all ended bu hopefully one day someone has the decency to get it back to me wherever it is.
Anyhow, they didn't offer hokie stone for my class (02) but I got my birth stone (peridot) with a VT engraved in it. Cool thing about it is that in blacklight (when I was at bars and clubs during that time) the peridot glowed in the blacklight and the VT stood out. I still have my battle-ring (the sliver one) but wish I could get my gold one back.
Not to keep reviving a dead thread but has anyone gotten the celestrium ring? Like people above, I could care less how valuable it is, I just want the ring. Does the celestrium hold up ok? Need lots of cleaning/maintenance? Look alright over time? etc, etc?
I got celestium, holds up great haven't cleaned it once in 2 years
Got one of the smaller rings but was thinking about going back to get the larger more detailed rings. Anyone able to describe the size comparison between the 22DWT to the 40DWT and corresponding sizes in between?
