The tweet isn't definitive that he's going to go with Michigan, but saying that he's gotta go back isn't really a plus for us...
AA showed me a lot of love. I gotta come back. #GoBlue— Da'shawn Hand (@TheHand54) March 17, 2013

Calm down. Did you also see these tweets?
@TheHand54: Why does this car ride have to be so long
@TheHand54: Man haven't seen so much snow in awhile
No, I did not. Thanks. +1.
I'm more worried about the SEC schools' appeal than the Wolverines
I'm not. He wants to be an engineer. He's going here or UM.
I like your confidence, but I still see those SEC schools (particularly Head Coach Napoleon) as a big obstacle in landing him.
Junior Days coming up for VT right? Could be a big weekend for us. Anyone know which one he's coming to?
AA?!
He's an alcoholic?!?
Before the serious police come out, I'm kidding.
Overeacting
Did we really expect him to tweet "Man Michigan sucks, I never want to go back"? Especially from a kid who seems like quite the standup kid.
Exactly. I've never been to Michigan before, but I'm sure if I visited their campus and football facilities I'd come away impressed. It's a great school with a lot of tradition both academically and athletically. Tech will have their opportunities to impress him before it is all said and done.
Also, this caught my eye this morning.
It'll be interesting to see if his cousin's recruitment plays a part of the process at all.
He said it won't
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/recruiting-insider/wp/2013/03/15/let...
“He has his own recruitment thing and I have my own,” Hand said. “We don’t like to mix it. Of course reporters ask all the time if it’s a “duo deal” or blah, blah blah. Nah, man. I want a school to like me for me and he wants a school to like him for him. We want to keep it that way. We’re not going to go to a school based off each other.
“When we get together, we don’t even talk about recruiting. Football shouldn’t run your life. It should be more of a hobby. Of course we’ll have to get more serious about it, but the ultimate goal in football in high school is to have fun. We don’t really treat it as a business.”
Does Michigan have the best food in the country? No.
Does Michigan have Bud Foster? No.
Does Michigan have an HC that does the Harlem Shake? No.
We're fine, people.
Campus Food
A little off topic, but I was up in Columbus recently for work and one of the students at tOSU said that they by far had the best campus food in the country. After he refused to take my word that VT's was better I had to just say Shut up- we're #1, look it up. You could bring up anything, and I mean anything, and they will blindly argue that they do it the best, no question. I found it comical.
Take it from someone who has attended both schools. It's not even close. Polytech all day
I think that he's coming April 6 .. and I think he may be back for the spring game as well. I think it'll come down to VT and Michigan ... Those two are definitely standing out ...but the other three are not out of it.
I think all that the tweets point out
is that we need to keep VT in the forefront of this kid's mind. Every opportunity.
From what I have seen, a lot of prospects show a lot of love for a school they have visited. Seen pictures on Twitter with them wearing all the gear at the facilities, and saying something about how great of a time they had. But then, the next week, they hit up another place and say the same.
Hand has 5 schools he has in his top list. I think all of these are still up for grabs, and based on what I've read and heard from him, he will definitely check each one out before making a decision.
So at this point, I'm not worried. Can't go through life stressing out about stuff like this. He has quite a while before he truly has to decide...
not good
"My next visit will probably be either South Carolina or Florida," Hand said. "It will probably happen some time in the summer."
If he hasn't committed yet.
I don't know why people are fretting. He is just enjoying being a hs senior and taking free trips.
*hs junior
Ah yes. Haha. Don't know how I made that mistake.
When I was at the AAA Northwest Regional Wrestling tournament about a month ago, where Hand wrestled as a heavyweight, Hand's coach was showing everyone a picture of Nick Saban watching him practice. Saban is trying hard. I must also say, Da'Shawn Hand is a very large human being, and you don't see many high school juniors that well put together.
"Is VT in danger of losing Hand?"
Don't you actually have to possess something to be in danger of losing it?
The kid is wide open. VT has an excellent shot, but so do several other programs.
Really, anything can happen before Signing Day. That being said, everything we've heard from D. Hand indicates VT is the perfect fit for him. One can only hope he'll be formally added to the program in February.
