I disagree, using my iPad having to go to the menu then open it and then hit tracker, liked it just being up top. I like the logo and search bar being so prominent, maybe leave comments and tracker also?

By the way, I've never had the chance to say this before or just never thought of it but thank for you what you do. I actually know quite a few firefighters from the Hampton Roads area and I know that it's an incredibly tough line of work. Really, just thank you.

It's an iterative process. I am going to see what I can do to better support iPads down the road. Although, as of right now it's a single extra tap to get where you need to go.

Huh. That seems odd. Larger Android tablets always render in desktop mode regardless of orientation.
I like the fact that it's static, though. The old header, you had to scroll back up to the top of the page to get to it. That was a bitch when you get a couple hundred comments on a thread and jump to the first new one.

The different layouts occur based on different browser widths which correlates to screen resolution. Even though the current generation of iPads have a 2048x1536 pixel screen resolution, Apple does internal scaling and the reported resolution of the device to the browser is 1024x768. When you hold the iPad in portrait, Safari reports it is 768px wide. The breakpoint for the "mobile" versus "desktop" display is 960px. That's why you are seeing what you are seeing.
Hold onto your butts, because it will be improved upon.
Edit: Should be good to go.

Joe I don't think we can say this enough but you sir are great. The work you and everyone else at TKP put in to have this site for us is truly awesome.

Here's a tip someone shared with me--if you are scrolling on an iPad (not sure if this works for any other tablets) and want to go quickly to the top header, just tap anywhere on the black space/edge/rim above the reading area. For example, I can tap directly on the black area above where the time stamp and thekeyplay.com are showing and will immediately be taken to the top of whatever I am reading.

Looks really good on my phone. I know a lot of websites are changing to that side dropdown menu thing, I don't like it on a computer. I don't know how others feel, but I'd rather have options at the top.

Bringing back the old logo is great. I think it's more "on-brand". The other one was good, but this one speaks to the community and revolution that is The Key Play!

I love the new header on the website as well. I prefer a simpler design, but I'm curious as to whether we'll see the "Shop" and "Photos" logos somewhere else to get to those pages.

fun fact, you can zoom in (hold ctrl and roll mousewheel forward) and it automatically switches over to mobile layout, for those of you who like the layout better( and don't want to put on your reading glasses.)

Sorry, Joe, but this is what happens when you spoil us. We just keep wanting more. A while back we didn't even know it existed, and now we want it on everything.

I like the quick links to t-shirts and the photo galleries. 2 questions:
1- I thought all t-shirts were pre-order only. Are all of these really available?
2- can you please add an official TKP gif folder to those galleries? I salivate at the thought of being able to look through all the GIFtories from our victories on one glorious page.

1. All of the t-shirts at http://shop.thekeyplay.com are in-stock and ready to ship. Before a new shirt design is printed , we run a pre order to ensure the people who want it get a t-shirt. That is to say, we don't keep updated stock, once they sell out, they sell out.
2. I can cook something up when some free cycles.

One more question. Has the state of virginia "key" logo been retired? I'm a big fan of the raised fist design, myself, so no complaints here. Just curious.

While we're complimenting Joe on the updates to this site, can I just say that not showing how many downvotes a comment has was the greatest decision of all time. I think I've seen about 3 people bitch about their downvotes in the last 6 months or so. Brilliant!

Shocker, Hokie Fireman doesn't like change. /s
Just giving you a hard time.

Safari on iPad won't render a full desktop view?
Have to hold it horizontally.

The static is HUGE. I love everything else that was changed.
The search box doesn't obscure my view anymore in landscape! Much up vote! Wow!
Technical talk, abandon thread while you can.

So what you're saying is, Apple sucks?
*ducks and covers*
Shameless upvote

I just bookmark the Tracker page instead of the actual home page on mobile.
I refreshed my phone because I thought it wasn't loading the entire page lol
Appreciate it and I am glad most of you like it.

If it's appearing on the computer, it's because your browser window is too narrow. Just make your browser wider.
So what you're saying is that its not about the size of the device, its all in how you use it?
I tried licking it for a whole hour.
TKP did not look any different.

The links are in the footer right now. I working on a way to sneak them back into the header though.
Agreed. Fantastic stuff Joe.

Now if there was some way to integrate the jump to next new comment functionality on mobile, my life would be perfect.

Joe discussed this during the TKP Telethon:
I am going to try my best to have it done before the season, but there are many other things to do before then.

The raised fist design also reminds me of Revolution Brewing in Chicago, and that association is a big plus in my world.
