There are only two open scrimmages, on 4/6 and for the Maroon-White game. They're locking it down which probably means the coaches don't want details of the new offense leaking out, and they could be installing pieces of the Alabama game plan. Who is going to what, is anyone on the board privileged enough to attend closed practices?

That sucks, was hoping to get as many looks as I could at the new offense. I'll be at both of the open scrimmages.
So glad my Guard unit pushed up April's drill a weekend. Now I can attend the Spring Game!
The first open scrimmage is also the date of our next jr day if you can make it get out there
April 20th can't come soon enough
FTFY:
#BeatBama :-)
I live really close to the stadium. I'll try to get as many looks as possible from the hill on top of Stadium Woods if they're not practicing inside.
Definitely spring game and possibly the open scrimmage. I can usually see them at work if there isn't much else going on.
I wish there were reports from this past weekend's practice. Really could have helped Monday at work go by faster.
I know right. Crickets...
They just opened up another one to the public. Advice Weaver Says:
I suck at HTML
Saw this on Hokie Sports but of course it takes 8 hours to play so luckily its linked through youtube
A couple of things:
The more I see of Coach Moorehead, the more I think we got an absolute gem. He's got a bright future ahead of him.
Let us take a moment to thank Pep Hamilton for his brilliant recommendation.
Anyone know who #7 was that made the catch at the end? Westbrook or Jones perhaps?
Finally the crickets go away! That was a beautiful catch...
So, it is difficult to read much into limited video clips where you can not see the pre-snap formation and defensive schemes, but here are some things that stood out.
1) Stanford made several nice catches, against starters. One was on Bonner, one was on Riley. Knowles deep catch was against Kyshone Jarrett. I am happy to see young players making plays, but I don't like seeing our starting secondary getting shredded by an inexperienced group. Then again, it is a small sample size.
2) Did anyone else notice that Augie Conte (#72) was at right tackle on the deep ball to Demetri Knowles? And Mark Shuman (#69) was at right tackle with Jonathan McLaughlin (#71) at left tackle on the out route to Asante? There is some serious reshuffling going on along the line of scrimmage.
3) I swear, Aaron Moorehead must have been Vince Vaughn's stunt double in Old School.
Looks like Riley was beat by Stanford and Knowles deep.
Also looks like there was no definite 1's on the field or 2's on the field. The first catch by Stanford was thrown by Logan Thomas and you saw Malleck, Caleb and Byrn out there, and I do not think they are all on the same level in the depth chart. You also saw the beautiful catch by Asante was thrown by walk on Brian Rody with Shuman at RT, so it did not look like anything should be looked into who was in with who.
Looking back, I think Knowles was on Jarrett, with Riley coming into the picture late.
Also, I am pretty sure the throw to Asante was Logan. #3 on the jersey.
From what I could see, the most clear play was the catch by Asante who is number 19 and it was from number 14 Brian Rody
I wish .gifs played on my phone, I'd watch this and Beamer dancing all day long.
Watching that video got me excited, but I can't wait for the scrimmage to get more idea of what's to expect.
One thing I noticed immediately were Logan's feet. He kept them moving, something I noticed he didn't seem to do very often last season, and I just hope he is getting his mechanics better with each practice reps he get.
Some things:
First throw and catch from Logan (?) to Stanford was pretty. Stanford made a great adjustment at the end. Ball was dropped in there over the outside shoulder perfectly. Donovan Riley was beat by two steps - Standford just ran right by him.
Second throw and catch from Gresh (?) to Knowles. Jarrett was in coverage. Donovan Riley was in the area and may have been very out of position, beat badly, or not involved in the play. Can't tell.
Third throw and catch was from Gresh (?) to Asante. Can't tell who's in coverage. Everyone went HAM iafter the catch. I like Asante - he looks the part.
I think DJ Coles will be alright. I'm hoping the can get that "smoothness" he had with the ball in his hands in 2011.
Last ball was from Rody (?) to #7.
Rody to Asante and Jessop another walk on to #7 at the end of the video
So who's heading to the scrimmage Saturday? I'm about 95% sure I am.
wish i could. Will definitely be there on the 20th.
Friend of mine and I will be there. Then probably going DT to celebrate.
you know we're one hell of a fanbase when we celebrate scrimmages
Yep...why pass up on a perfectly good opportunity to go day drinking?
The girlfriend is working so I might head out there since it is supposed to be in the 60s the last I checked.
Let me know if you go. Day drink and enjoy some Hokieball
Anyone been to an open scrimmage before? Im trying to go to this one on Saturday.
Will it be in Lane? and are there rules against bringing a camera/taking pictures?
From the Lane Stadium Fan Guide
Thinking about taking my SLR and my smaller lens for the scrimmage. I'm not sure yet.
Yes, it'll be in Lane.
I hope to go to the scrimmage this Saturday. If I don't have to work on Saturday due to some...work issues, then I plan to see with my four eyes to see the new changes.
What I'm hearing is no open scrimmage tomorrow because of the weather. They may open up Monday's but if not looks like the 13th will be the first open scrimmage now.
Report from Beamerball and beat writers is that Monday's scrimmage is still open. It's just on Monday (which puts a damper on this weekend's recruiting efforts)
It's OK, There will still be more people there Monday than UVA had at their spring game.
Random question here because I couldn't find the spring game thread.
But do they usually announce which old players will be in the bookstore before the day of the spring game? Like for instance, Tyrod Taylor was there last year. Anyone know who will be this year?
I just got an email providing this information since I have pre-ordered before. There's three this year:
-Tyrod Taylor
-Kam Chancellor
-David Wilson
They'll be there 12:00pm - 1:30pm at Tech Bookstore. $55 pre-sale/$60 at the door.
