Kam Chancellor is the best strong safety in the NFL right now. He should get paid like one. He is underpaid for what hes been doing to opposing teams.

Jimmy Williams also plays AFL for the New Orleans VooDoo.

Not on their Roster and has no stats, so not sure if he is still there.

That's what I get for trusting wikipedia.

The AFL is the hardest to do. Rosters can change weekly, sometimes the team doesnt update the website. There is no good central location to get up to the minute information.

Yeah. For example, Nekos Brown keeps tweeting about L.A. Kiss games that he's involved in. Now, he was definitely playing for them last year and he's still listed on their roster on the arena football website, but he's not listed on the L.A. Kiss team website.

The New Orleans VooDoo ceased operations.

I actually think the list the list will get smaller, Hosley, Williams, Gibson, Painter, Wang and Thomas are all in danger of not making an active roster.

Im not a fan of the Bills, but they will be a much improved team, and for Tyrod to get a shot to start and team up with LeSean McCoy, Sammy Watkins, & Robert Woods, etc. would be awesome.

ACC's greatest hits up there in Buffalo.

That's 6 O-linemen. #VT-OLU

That's been the word all of camp. Apparently EJ Manuel has fallen into third. Hopefully he keeps it going and shows out during the preseason games.

Apparently he's gotten his #5 jersey now as well. look out!

I saw a report yesterday from NFL.com saying that Matt Cassell will be starting the first preseason game. Sounds like Tyrod will get a chance to win the job though.

First depth chart out of Carolina has Boykin in a very hot seat. However, it looks to me like any legitimate position battles have the benefit of the doubt given to the incumbent for now. He'll have to earn it and I think he'll have to do it on special teams. He did poorly in spring OTAs but has improved a bit since then.

Just broke up a pass.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

I miss Tyrod on the Ravens. I spent way too much money on a jersey (which I just had framed), and now I have to watch LOLUVA Schaub. Hopefully Tyrod wins the Buffalo job so everything is right with the world.

"What are you going to do, stab me? - Quote from Man Stabbed

Kyshoen had a good one hand pass deflection just now, apparently the Skins have been high on him. He has been on with the second team defense.

What position? I know they were working (or planning on) him at CB for a little in camp.

VT '15

Been playing safety and slot/nickel corner in camp. Was playing a deep safety role (cover-1, etc.) tonight from what I saw.

Also took some slot reps in the first half

Missed the first half. Thanks!

Excited to see my Panthers and Tyrod duke it out tonight. Hoping for big games for him and Boykin both.

Just to temper it a bit, the Panthers are already playing 3rd stringers in the front 7 due to how many are inactive today.

However I see no reason why Tyrod shouldn't win that competition up there in Buffalo.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

I think it's the panthers second team with seeing frank Alexander play. Tyrod isn't playing with first team either and that's now two touchdowns on two straight drives. Pretty impressive when playing with second team preseason. A lot of games end without 2 touchdowns scored the entire game.

It was a mixture. 2nd string ends (still a competition there) 3rd string tackles and some linebackers (trusnik, etc.)

Edit: Don't want to make it sound like I'm trying to drag him down, he's done quite well. Again, he should start this year.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

They scored! Go Tyrod!

From buffalonews:

Taylor went 5 for 8 for 49 yards, with two of his incompletions coming on long throws that were right on the money to Marquise Goodwin and Deonte Thompson. While he was impressive throwing the ball, it was the job he did running that had fans inside Ralph Wilson Stadium excited.

Taylor carried the ball six times for 47 yards, showing dynamic speed to the edge of the defense. He drew a pair of defensive penalties, as well.

Tyrod always had an incredible knack for drawing penalties. ACC all-time leading trash talker.

"Our job as coaches is to influence young people's lives for the better in terms of fundamental skills, work ethic, and doing the right thing. Every now and again, a player actually has that effect on the coaching staff." Justin Fuente on Sam Rogers

He showed some great elusiveness. Made a bunch of guys miss and made it look easy as he always did.

Boykin just had a decent catch for Carolina, will be interesting to see if he can make the roster.

Boo birds for Manual in Buffalo.

Manwell looked ok. His scrambles were awful. He had one nice long touchdown pass and had a few throws on the run that weren't even close. I think Tyrod (phone likes to autocorrect to Turks for some reason) looked much better than the rest. We will see.

Manuel had some very nice throws, but he was up a creek if he ever had to scramble to throw. If I was making decisions there, I'd start Tyrod with Manuel being #2.

Looks like Hosley got hurt last night, MRI on neck and concussion protocol. Not looking good for him to make the Giants roster.

T-Mobile feeling the love in Buffalo, looks like he will be at least #2 if not the starter come opening day. With the weapons Buffalo picked up in the offseason they could be a real threat to the division this year since they already had a pretty nasty D!

Awesome to read this, and happy for Tyrod! Thanks for sharing the link.

Boykin may have gotten a boost to make the roster for all the wrong reasons just now. Kelvin Benjamin just went down with a non-contact knee injury in training. I'm devastated and hoping for the best, but it's likely that the Panthers will need the depth at WR to step it up now.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

Yikes, Fig Newton can't catch a break down there. Hopefully Benjamin returns 100%. Would love to have him on the Ravens. The Flacco/Benjamin connection would be unreal.

"What are you going to do, stab me? - Quote from Man Stabbed

The Cam/Benjamin connection IS unreal, and there's no way that franchise would let go of Benjamin for a very, very long time. This one will hurt if it's worst case.

Boykin has 3 catches and should have had a touchdown (wide open but bad overthrow by Derek Anderson). He's the best receiver playing for Carolina tonight.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

He now has 6 catches. Looking at who is getting snaps in preseason does not have me hopeful that every Hokie will make a 53 man roster.

I think Boykin has pretty much solidified his spot though. Not just tonight, but the past few days at camp he's been a consistent receiver. With Kelvin Benjamin being out, Boykin is going to have a decent number of targets this year I think. I'm excited about that, at least.

David Wang cut by the Rams.

He tried hard. No doubt he has a big heart pushing through all those injuries and with his six year plan at Tech and all the technique he learned (good and bad), he will could make a good coach.

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. " Rocky B.

I am not to worried about Wang. He used the system like it was meant to be used. He used his time at Tech to earn 2 bachelors degrees and a masters degree in fields where he can probably actually make a living. Very happy that he got a shot at the NFL, but I don't think anybody actually expected him to make it with his injury history.

That is really curious. I stopped following him once he left the pack, but if he was good enough to stick with GB for a stint I cant imagine he wasnt good enough in Carolina. I smell a business move

"The Big Ten is always using excuses to cancel games with us. First Wisconsin. Then Wisconsin. After that, Wisconsin. The subsequent cancellation with Wisconsin comes to mind too. Now Penn State. What's next? Wisconsin?" -HorseOnATreadmill

He's been our leading receiver stats-wise since Kelvin Benjamin went down this preseason. You'd think they'd at least give him a quarter with the first stringers before cutting just about the only reliable pair of hands they have.

Then again, the Panthers aren't known for making the savviest of moves at times.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

The Norwood trade sealed the deal, really. Boykin was going to have a tough time making the team as it was, so at least with this now he has a chance to latch on somewhere else.

They played this year's Grey Cup game (their version of the Super Bowl) the Sunday after Thanksgiving, so they're firmly in their offseason right now. Their training camps for next season will start in late May and their regular season will start in late June.

Logan Thomas was just added to the Dolphins active roster.

http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article50069120.html

With Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore clearly ahead of him, perhaps the Dolphins elevated Thomas to guard against another team poaching him. Dan Campbell suggested Tuesday that the Dolphins would get a look at some young players — with an obvious eye on the 2016 season — now that Miami has been officially eliminated from the playoffs.

Looks like another team, the Bengals, tried to sign LT.

Maybe someone else was in the house. That's probably all it would take. I haven't found the actual VA statute to know what the charge entails, but from anecdotal evidence in other states, the charges can be pretty broad if at any point anyone else could have been injured because he was being an idiot. The charge is likely not the fact that he shot himself, but the danger to others.

"Exit light..."

Basically correct, except it's unclear as to whether another person must be present. Statute says it's reckless if it poses a danger to life, limb, or property of ANY person. Given that it's a misdemeanor, it'll be tough to find actual case law, but the law is sufficiently broad that he could be charged because he is a person, and he injured that person with a firearm. Sounds ridiculous, but there are plenty of judges who split those kinds of hairs.

I don't know if MD law has any bearing in VA.

But this story just illustrates how disparately the laws are enforced. In my firearms safety class (in MD), the instructor (ex-Baltimore PD) told a story of a guy involved in a similar situation. He was cleaning his gun in the garage, it fired, went through the wall, and hit the opposite wall in the room where his young daughter was playing. She was unhurt, but it was a close call. The guy was charged (I believe the same reckless use charge) and thrown in jail for a long time. Perhaps it was different because a child was involved, but if you remove age from it:

Accidental discharge + death = no charges
Accidental discharge + no injury = long stay in jail

I'm no lawyer, though.

"Exit light..."

reckless use of a firearm

Is that what the kids are calling it these days?
