Less than a week after he was announced to be "taking a leave of absence", it has been reported that he is actually transferring out of there.
Paul Chryst's short statement:
Rushel and I met on Tuesday morning and he informed me of his final decision to transfer," Chryst said. "I wish him only the best moving forward. Out of respect for Rushel, his family and his privacy, this will be my final comment on the matter.
Also, it took me about 100 times to type "Rushel Shell" instead of "Russell Shell."
He had over 100 yards in 1 game this year: Virginia Tech. Against the Hokies, he had 23 rushes for 157 yards (6.8 Avg). Hopefully whatever the off the field issues get fixed, but I'm also glad that he won't be facing the Hokies for the next 3 years.

I think I read this somewhere on yahoo and it also said he was considering Arizona because of a coach out there he was familiar with.
Agreed that it is a good thing he will not be facing us anymore. I went to the Pitt game last year and he was the main thing they were clamoring about. Most were shocked to be winning.
*Arizona State. Pretty sure it's the state version, not Rich Rod's version.
Thanks. Yeah I knew it was somewhere out there, just wasn't sure since I read the article a couple days ago.
Yeah - Todd Graham, the HC at Arizona State, was the HC at Pitt when he was recruited.
Maybe not...looks like there's a kink in his plan.

Sounds like they dont want him to go to ASU or 'Zona, where former Pitt staff it. Trying to limit him to Cal or UCLA it looks like. Could be interesting to see what this does to his decision
What a crock of shit
One wonders why Pitt would prevent him from going to ASU or the Zone.....it's not like they are direct competition (they also bar him from any ACC school, which is understandable to an extent). The only conclusion that I can come to is that somebody higher up in the athletic dept. didn't want to give Todd Graham a delayed parting gift like Shell. Can you say "U Mad Bro?"
Which would explain the ASU ban...but I don't know what staffers went to Zona, but if it's not anyone big named, I don't know why they would be wanting to block him from going there.
They've got a nasty streak going against us, and that should never be!

But there was a great highlight or two from that horrible game:
Is it too wvu/maryland-like to chant "eat shit Pitt" in Lane? I dont want to be like either of those fan bases but dont want to act too much like LOLuva either
Just don't let old man Weaver catch you!
i love this highlight, just dont glance at the score across the bottom before jarrett scores...itll make you want to puke
seemed like they stopped putting Jarrett back there for returns. Instead we got to see Holmes dance around for little to no yards.
I think I remember a lot of instances with two players back to return punts, maybe the other teams were kicking the punts shorter/to Holmes to avoid a big return from Jarrett?
