Top Recruits Visiting this Week

Henderson is a 4-star pro-style quarterback. His highlights are here: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1460934/coach-henderson. He's visiting Tech on Friday (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/recruiting-insider/wp/2013/04/10/lak...).

"It's got to be the right fit, and Caleb has to feel comfortable about where he's going, his mom has to like the coach, and I have to feel good about the football program and the direction," Eric Henderson said. "We're constantly talking, but I don't think there's any timetable yet."

Kentavious is a 5- / 4-star defensive end who seems to be leaning towards Georgia at the moment, but has Tech among his top schools. Previously on the site: http://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2013/march/4/kentavious-street-5-star-de.

Im not QB expert but Henderson looks really good...seems pretty mobile for a pro style quarterback, and probably could have run a few more times than he ended up doing

I'd be interested in how he compares with our most mentioned QB targets this year, Jacob Park and David Cromwell, if any of the film gurus want to give it a shot.

Henderson is just down the road in Burke. I might take a ride to watch him play this fall.

It suprises me that the Hokies would host two big recruits on a weekend where the scrimmage is scheduled early in the morning.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

It would be optimal if they visited for the spring game, but I think these guests just fall into the "happy to have them on campus at all" category. Street would be an incredible pull.

This is off topic...but I was on ESPN NCAAF and they have dropped Kendall to the 5th CB in the Country and a 4 star recruit....F THAT...I hope he destroys everyone #beatbama

Sean

I think ESPN always had him as a 4 star

Hyping up Hokie Nation one video at a time.

That's why I just created him myself. 92 overall as a freshman, had about 20 ints, 7 or so returned for TDs. He and Kyle combined for about a dozen kickoff return tuchdowns.... oh, and of course, #beatbama. I think my version of reality is better.

Caleb Henderson committed to UNC...so much for that visit

Oh well.. he was never our guy anyway. I hope we get Cornwell/Park or both

Here's the story from WaPo which has more details: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/recruiting-insider/wp/2013/04/12/cal....

There are two ironies. The first is Bryn Renner used the coaching turnover as a selling point:

"Bryn pretty much just said, 'Look, I've been here for four years and I've been through two different head coaches and three different offensive coordinators and I'm still in love with the school. That has to say something about the school itself,'" Henderson said.

The second is Henderson didn't even have an offer before Wednesday.

I'm not bummed about this at all. Henderson looks like a solid prospect, but Tech was a longshot. I think we sit well with Park... and maybe we'll get a surprise commit next weekend.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for Park. He said that if he got an offer from VT he would go, since he likes Scot and the school. Then he got the offer, and silence.

I think he's still on board. He's received a lot more offers recently so he's probably just seeing the whole process through.

That's what I figured. As a recruit, you only get to live this once, might as well enjoy it.

Anyone know the full list of recruits coming this weekend and next weekend?

i know were expecting to pick up a commitment from park but i really hope our coaches push hard for cornwell. from everything i heard hes an elite talent and with this resurgence in recruiting im hoping they can reel in some of the better players in the country

Nothing against Cornwell. I'm sure he'll be a great qb somewhere. My heart's set on Park. He WANTS to be a Hokie. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Cornwell will go to bama, but let's beat them anyways.

It's worth noting that Loeffler recruited all over the country at Auburn....and he didn't recruit Bucky. So whether it's Park or Cornwell, they very well may beat out Bucky. Will Loeffler go with a tr-Fr next year or let Leal play a year? Probably Leal, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some platoon with Leal and either Cornwell/Park next season.

Can either Cornwell or Park enroll in January?

Somehow I doubt that Leal plays. I've never really regarded him as anything more than a backup.

Leal, by most reports, has been the better passer this spring with the second string line, second string WRs, and more often facing the #1 defense. He'll start in 2014. However, based on high school highlights, I think that Park / Cornwell would start as a redshirt freshman in 2015 over Bucky and Carlis Parker.

Henderson went to my highschool, I was never really all that impressed with him. Never saw him as the type of QB that would do well here at VT

I think that no matter what whomever is the best quarterback will be the starter no matter who recruited them!

encouraging tweet from kentavius street after his visit, described tech as "unbelievable!" i know you can't put too much stock on our chances of landing him from a tweet but it was nice to see nonetheless...great job coaches!
