As reported by Rivals.com, 4-star recruit C.J. Reavis has given his verbal pledge to the Hokies. The 6-2, 200-pound safety picked the Hokies over Tennessee. He held additional offers from Virginia, Nebraska, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Wisconsin, among many more. Yeah, his recruitment really exploded over the last few months. Tech's Thomas Dale connection, and the tireless effort of Shane Beamer helped the Hokies' cause here.
Here's what he told Rivals.com Jason Stamm after committing.
"It feels great to be a Hokie," Reavis text messaged HokieHaven.com. "Like it's a dream come true. I've always wanted to play football on a big stage and win championships & what better way to do that than in your home state."
Here's what his coach Kevin Tucker said on April 8th.
"I'm getting phone calls every day," Tucker said.
Tennessee and Vanderbilt also recently made offers. Reavis' list includes Ohio State, Michigan, Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Maryland and Georgia Tech.
Michigan, Florida State and Southern California have shown interest but haven't made offers yet.
"I'm guessing he's going to be coast to coast in his recruiting," Tucker said.
He's being recruited as a strong safety, but he could play outside linebacker if he grows from his current 6-f
oot-3, 205-pound size. Tucker estimates that Reavis will be at 210 by the time summer practice begins in August.
Reavis was in town for today's Maroon (Orange)–White game. From his Instagram (http://instagram.com/_reavisisland/):

His complete film is here, and more is embedded below.
These are notes from French:
- Plays close to the line, fills well.
- Looks like a whip linebacker, might grow out of rover.
- Attacks the ball and try's to get INT's. He attacks the ball at the highest point.
- Much more of a rover than a free. Covers slot guys ok, but needs to improve his hips when forced to turn and run.
- Could easily move to whip, has the athleticism and versatility.
Welcome to HokieNation C.J.!

F YEAH!!!
Okay MAYYYBE some pre-spring-game exuberance bleeding through there...
Soooo pumped! Getting the ball rolling, hopefully it's just the first of many today.
I completely agree with French, CJ could play rover but he looks to have the potential to be a game changer at Whip. I say fast track him. Get him in West-End, in the weight room, and get him on the field.
Welcome to the Hokies, CJ!! You made the right choice in your shade of orange!
Very excited about him hopefully he'll continue the long line of great db's. Question though, how come we only got two commits compared to last year? Did not as many recruits attend? Or are we going after more highly recruited guys who would rather let it play out longer?
who is the second?
cant say. he will announce Thursday tho.
Well that's weird
What are you talking about?
According to VirginiaTechFan, it was 3* QB/ATH Travon McMillian.

Last year we got 6 recruits and a cancelled spring game. This year we got 1 or 2 commits and a spring game. I Wouldn't worry at all about recruits landed, and what it means for the Hokies
maybe they watched the game....
im so pumped he may be awesome in or system. hes 200lbs going into school i cant imagine how big he could get after some time in our conditioning.
I thought "Fisher, Harrison and Reavis....pretty stacked at FS/Rov/Whip for the future." Then I thought, "Hmmm...Fisher hasn't qualified yet and Harrison is a 4* recruit out of Florida, so you can be sure that he will have a FL school's commitment letter in front of him on signing day."
It's a long way away, but it sure would be nice to have all three of these guys actually in camp at some point...
