OT - Looking at life if Brewer can't come back.

OK, losing Brewer hurts. More than I care to admit to myself. But life, and more importantly, football goes on. Against Furman and Purdue we have an opportunity. An opportunity to test and analyze how the offense is going to look for the immediate future. I, for one, am excited for this new look and challenge. The way I see it we have three options. My (admittedly completely amateur) look at us if Brewer is out for the season, and yes I know he could come back, collarbones are tough to predict.

1. B. Motley - The obvious choice. The veteran.

He can run the wildcat offense as shown in his limited action so far. With an improved o-line and skill players this could be a bread and butter for moving the ball. Play actions and bootleg medium passing game could complement this. I think this will most likely be the way Beamer & Co. will go. Its a decent way of moving the ball and will score enough points to win some games. Predicted win-loss: 8-4

2. C. Durkin - The Wildcard. Logan Thomas 2.0

Run a power running offense with more deep throws, think Norv Turner (speculation on his skills, too much unknown). We don't exactly know how far Durkin has progressed in his time here, regardless his high school tape speaks for itself and there is a reason he is still here and Ford is not. I like what he is about and think he could lead this team if called upon. Predicted win-loss: 6-6

3. D. Lawson - The Future.

Run a spread attack with read and speed options and easy route combos downfield. Cater to his skills, run what he is used to with tweaks to what we are about and see what he can do. Do I think he is ready? Probably not, but if the two above can't get it done, the future is now. Predicted win-loss: 6-6

Maybe I'm biased, maybe I'm crazy but I see Motley being the best option. However, I also think the next two games will tell us all we need to know on who should be QB1 going forward.
