ESPN3 info

So...is anyone going to drop their username/password for those of us whose cable provider doesn't carry ESPN3? Please and thanks!

Thank you. The fact that I can't get espn3 drives me freaking crazy. And the fact that the work around can be this simple only makes me even more mad. FREE ALL ESPN NOW! I liked the old game plan better where you could at least purchase the game.

It's not working anymore!! What happened?

I thought this might be a good place to mention this - a month ago I decided to try Sling TV and so far it's been solid for streaming. $20/month + a free Roku stick was easily offset by not having to move up to the next bundle-of-crap tier required by my cable provider to get ESPNx + HD.

Shoulda got DirecTV...

Was happy Direct TV customer while living in backwaters of western MA. Just moved back to civilization and thought I'd try that Internet thing everybody kept talking about.

I also tried sling tv last week for the game because I really didn't want to go back to cable. One additional benefit is that you can watch all the espn channels through an xbox and watch replays of the game whenever you want. Not to bad for $20/month.

Sling TV is excellent. Don't pay close attention to twitter though, sometimes the games are a little delayed.

Don't they have an extended espn package for 5 bucks a month?

Yes, I got that in hopes of getting more soccer games. It has all of the ESPN channels, sec network, bases loaded, some nbc channel that seems to only play volleyball and cycling, Univision sports (take that, Trump), Bein. No premier league but I can see French Zander Spanish soccer plus all of the football.

Thanks everyone! GO HOKIES!!

Sling TV is awesome but that doesn't help if we aren't on ESPN right?

Pretty sure you get access to espn3 with Sling as well.

As a SlingTV customer, this would be news to me (although someone mentioned it last week as well).

Whenever I try to get into WatchESPN or ESPN3, it asks for my cable provider. If you look at the ESPN3 site, you'll see a little 'key' icon on many games, indicating that it is only for subscribers who can log in through their television provider.

Having said that, there ARE games that you can get through ESPN3/WatchESPN regardless of your cable provider (or lack thereof). For example, a lot of smaller games and any game on a nationwide ABC broadcast are free.

Now that I check the ESPN3 schedule, though, I don't see any 'locked' games...maybe I CAN watch all of these...

This makes it sound like we can...http://blog.sling.com/announcements/watch-espn3-with-sling-tv/

Yes, keep in mind that Sling acts as your virtual "cable provider" and some of your $20/mo. is making its way back to ESPN. One thing that initially had me confused: on my Roku device ESPN3 doesn't show up under the SlingTV menu with the other ESPN stuff, but rather on the separate WatchESPN option.

Yup. Just to confirm, my ESPN3 on my laptop says it is powered by Xfinity - my cable provider. I was not allowed to watch an ESPN came on that account, but I was able to watch the ABC game. Contrast this with signing into ESPN3 with SlingTV, which allowed me to watch ESPN and ESPN2 games but not ABC games.

True, but with the ACC contract almost all (except maybe ECU) will likely be on an ESPN network.

I apologize, but I'm not real adept at this. So I should visit watchtveverywhere.com, login using Jeff's info, and then visit the watchespn link. But what info should I use to login from there?

Sum bitch Cox. Bought this big sports package, every ESPN except ESPN 3. Thanks man...freaking need this, after last Monday...

ESPN3 is on no ones TV as far as I know.

Correct. ESPN3 is online only, but if you've purchased a cable package that includes ESPN, usually that means you can log into ESPN3 via your credentials with your cable provider. Cox should be on that list.

When did the online only happen? Last year and the year before, I was always able to catch Hokie games on ESPN3. Always through my Xbox. Oh well, I can HDMI it to tv at least.

I use my XBox, too. What we're saying is ESPN3 isn't a channel on your TV. You can access it through online devices like a computer, gaming console, etc.

ESPN3 used to be called ESPN360...dating back to the 2006 season. (They changed the name in 2010.)

I think you're getting ESPN3 confused with WatchESPN.

WatchESPN is the app that allows you to stream any of the ESPN content, provided you have the proper credentials. ESPN3 is a online only "channel" that is available through WatchESPN.

Yep, definitely confused. I'm just a little irritated that last year, on my 360, I could get it to play.
