In his Article, Progress is Slow, But Sure French said the following:

"Defensive line has been a real head scratcher this spring...We have Charley Wiles absolutely destroying Kris Harley in interviews and burying him on the depth chart, despite a scrimmage where he was dominant with the backups against the number one offense...The defensive line MUST be dominant for the Hokies to have an ACC-championship caliber season, and that requires at least two groups of starter quality down linemen. Right now, it is hard to determine if Wiles is sending a bunch of messages, but if the current depth chart is indicative of performance, some guys who must be contributors are not pulling their weight right now, and that deeply worries me going into the matchup with Alabama."

Do you know what specifically the coaches don't like about Harley's Spring? His effort? Off the field issues? Or were Smith/Barron just that much better than Harley?

Wiles said Harley needs to lose about 10-12 pounds. Says he's not quick enough to play DT at his current weight.

apparently hes been inconsistent, i believe wiles said in an interview that he "spends too much time on the ground." my guess is that wiles thinks he cant give you more than just a few snaps at a time. whether thats effort or fitness or both im not really sure
