College Football Countdown #100 - BC

Paul Myerberg of USA Today does a yearly countdown ranking every FBS team. They're quite detailed, and I highly recommend them. Anyway, today he got to the first (worst) ACC team on his countdown: BC

No matter how low they rank and how long they suck, still won't take the sting out of 2007.

True. But at least we got them in the ACC championship. And, I hate to try to put a positive spin on it, but at least it was to Matt Ryan. I can handle losing the occasional game to a player of his class and caliber.

I can't handle the WVU game from, what, 2004? Disaster mode.

It was 2003 in Morgantown. We came in ranked #3 and got stomped. I recall that game vividly. In 2004, they played in Lane and we got some epic revenge on them - one of my favorite football memories.

"Exit light..."

We blocked a kick in that one, right? Right before halftime?

Mom was in the bathroom, thought she'd beat the halftime rush.

Indeed.

Haha, not me. I stopped being a falcons fan the day they drafted him. I'll never forgive him.

I'm a Falcons fan because they did draft him, eliminating Matt Schaub from the team. Now I don't root for the Texans. Put a HooQB on a Texas team and I'm done.

They traded Schaub away even before Vick's dogfighting history was made public (by a month), and then drafted Ryan a year later. They didn't get rid of Schaub because of Ryan, they got rid of Schaub because Vick was their guy and Schaub was getting expensive.

Seriously. Worst experience in my fandom, any of a half-dozen things go different and we win that game and probably make the national championship with another shot at LSU. Way worse than the runner-up double nut punch combo of Boise State and JMU, mostly because I was still numb from the BSU loss five days earlier and that one we did to ourselves via scheduling. Both JMU and BC involved shitty weather conditions as well which added insult to to the injury.

I still throw up a little every time some jackass on NFL coverage says "Matty Ice."

Ugh. We burned a couch after that game at Center St apartments. Didn't plan to do it, we were just pissed about the game.
