According to SportsWar's (TSL) Chris Horne, Oscar Smith (Chesapeake) wide receiver Jaylen Bradshaw made it official and verballed to the Hokies this evening.
Oscar Smith WR Jaylen Bradshaw has committed to Virginia Tech, Tigers coach Rich Morgan reports.Bradshaw is in the class of 2014.— Chris Horne (@ChrisHorneSW) June 5, 2013
Bradshaw earned a Virginia Tech offer after camping in Blacksburg last Sunday.
Class of 2014 wide receiver Jaylen Bradshaw landed his first BCS offer on Sunday when the Hokies offered. The 6-1 175 pound wide out with the sub 4.5 speed is highly regarded as one of the best wide outs in the rising senior class locally. Until now, Jaylen held five offers, but the Tech offer has the potential to trump them all. Bradshaw picked up offers from Old Dominion, Campbell, Charlotte, Towson, and UMass this Spring.
There are two other ACC schools that are hot on Bradshaw. Wake Forest and UVA could still pull the trigger on a scholarship offer to Jaylen, and that might level the playing field among the contenders. Virginia Tech is a leader when it comes to recruiting blue chip lineman Andrew Brown. Class of 2012 running back J.C. Coleman became the first Oscar Smith Tiger to commit to Tech since Greg Boone. If the Hokies can get Bradshaw to commit soon, they might have even more leverage when it comes to landing Brown
How much did WR Jaylen Bradshaw want to go to VT? Told his mom this last weekend: "I refuse to leave this camp without an offer." #Hokies— Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) June 6, 2013
He's a talented athlete that has gone under the radar nationally.
Oscar Smith receiver Jaylen Bradshaw commits to Virginia Tech. He received offer after great day at camp (4.4 in 40 and 39-inch vertical)— 757Teamz (@757teamz) June 5, 2013
Bradshaw is rated as a 2-star by 247Sports and is unranked by Rivals.
Last season he caught 35 balls for 722 yards and 10 scores. His highlights are on Hudl, so unfortunately they're not embeddable here.
Coach Moorehead will have an athletic prospect at his disposal, and Virginia Tech extends its Oscar Smith pipeline.
Welcome to HokieNation Jaylen!

4.4 40 with a 39 inch vertical! Sounds good to me. Welcome to HokieNation! Hopefully Andrew Brown joins his teammate
The tradition of finding under-the-radar recruits continue.
Danny Coale wasn't ranked by many services, was a walk-on, and became a Hokies Legend.
I'm satisfied because it mean that the staff are continuing to find the diamonds in the rough, and turning them into All-ACC caliber players.
Edit: want to add: I can't wait to see what Moorehead does to the kid. Really can't wait.
He appears to have very good hands, granted this is a highlight video...
Good thing we're landing Oscar Smith recruits again.
or IS IT embeddable?
going to mess with the iframe to see if I can get the autoplay off, they use html 5 params on their site
I understood about 3 words in this sentence...
I'd like to point out I fixed the autoplay issue.
How'd u get it to embed???
Dang- he can play.. Who's #65? He might be pretty good too ;-)
A couple of thoughts:
1. Goes and gets the ball at its highest point;
2. A whole lot of catches in the open field. I would like to see how he performs catching the ball with a guy in his back pocket;
3. Deceptively fast in the open field...it doesn't look like he is running hard/fast, but then you see him relative to the defenders and there he goes, running away from them almost effortlessly. Love it;
4. Does not fight through contact. He needs to toughen up a little.
Very intrigued though, I like the potential. Good get Stiney.
In Andy Bitter's article Bradshaw says the following in regards to Andrew Brown:
Exactly what you want to hear.
Well played Beamer & Co, well played
I love that this kid said I'm not leaving here without an offer. You have to respect his desire to play at tech. That type of attitude is contagious!
If adding Bradshaw to the team gets Andrew Brown to commit he was worth the scholarship.
The 4.4 40 and 39 inch vert don't hurt either. Not to mention he's supposed to be a pretty solid route runner with decent to good hands. I'll take a natural receiver any day of the week.
Absolutely. Just saying that it doesn't hurt that he is a teammate of a blue-chip prospect who VT is chasing.
If adding Bradshaw to the team means Moorehead gets a talented athlete to mold who WANTS to be a Hokie... then he was worth the scholarship.
Wish I can +2 this, because I strongly feel the same way. Regardless of whether or not he brings in Brown, this kid has a lot of potential and if Moorehead is getting a kid with a chip on his shoulder, wanting to show the world how good he can be then he fits the VT mold perfectly.
Welcome to Hokie Nation
For real, though. I'm glad we got somebody named Jaylen in this class.
Since no one else has said it yet, Welcome to Hokie Nation, Jaylen!
Now go and start studying one of the best we've ever had. Jaylen has a few inches on him, but if he's as fast as advertised, he'll remind us of this guy.
My thoughts exactly..his game looks similar...lots of YAC...good acceleration. I'm always excited about WR recruits since we always seem to need them.
What if he can get open like Danny and get YAC like Eddie...?
He would be the team captain of the Mythical Team O
He reminds me of David Clowney - size and speed - also a 2* recruit.
I have seen him in person and it is totally different than on film. Granted the defense that he was playing against in some of that footage was playing soft in the middle he definitely has another gear once he makes a catch.
Anyone know what happened to Thomas Smith (WR) who signed with Tech in 2011?
My burning question: Can he block, or does he get the #7 jersey?
