According to the ESPN ACC Blog (and Mama Giraffe), our most important game of the season is the Georgia Tech game. No real big shocker there. Anyways, here's the gist of what's important about it:
Why it’s important: Because this is the first real chance for the Hokies to prove they’re good enough to be relevant in the conference race again. After the most disappointing season in 20 years, Virginia Tech will start its quest for redemption in a meaningful, nationally-televised Thursday night game on the road. The Hokies should be riding a three-game win streak and feeling confident heading into Atlanta. It’s no coincidence that this is also the “most important game” for Georgia Tech, as the Jackets will have plenty on the line, too. Historically, this has been the most important series in the Coastal Division race. Every year since the ACC split into divisions -- with the exception of last season -- the winner of the Georgia Tech-Virginia Tech game has gone on to win the division. This year, expectations are higher for Miami and North Carolina, which were both ineligible last year. Until proven otherwise, though, the importance of this game should not be diminished.

Anyways, I gotta disagree with her analysis. The GT game is somewhat of an anomaly on our schedule with their triple option offense, which Bud has been on top of recently. I honestly feel that our next game, home against UNC, should show us a bit more about where our season is headed, especially since they are apparently supposed to be better than GT this year.
I definitely agree. GT is always important because of precedent, but this season, UNC and Miami are much more immediately important.

Well she's assuming (and so is the rest of the world honestly) that we lose to bama; she said we'll be riding a three game win streak, w.carolina marshall ecu, going into GT. She's basically saying that bama isn't winnable so we shouldn't use that as a benchmark. With that logic it would make sense that she wouldn't say bama is the most important game because for our ACC purposes we could lose to bama and still go to charlotte. Regardless I agree with some above that unc is the most important (at least right now in June)

It's just an easy write up for her. She would actually have to do some thinking and research to see who our most important opponent is.
I don't see why everyone thinks UNC and Miami are gonna be so good this year. UNC lost their entire offense (Giovanni Bernard) and Miami's quarterback is Stephen Morris who is hilariously bad. People keep hyping him up like they did with Jacory Harris but that doesn't mean he's good. I don't think people realize how bad our division is gonna be and how much better our defense is than everyone else we play.
As long as Bryn Renner still has arms and Larry Fedora is still the coach, UNC will give us at least a challenge
The Battle for the Commonwealth Cup is always our most important game of the year. We don't want the smug Hoos to have bragging rights

I didn't feel like looking for the official Alabama thread, but I just ordered my tickets for the Alabama game for $60. They are FINALLY for sale on hokietickets.com. So excited guys!

They were up in April for students for $30. And they were up to $90 yesterday.
All I know is that we're playing Alabama on August 31st
