Happy 50th Bruce Smith!

The Sackman turns 50 today. Just thought a shout-out to possibly the greatest Hokie football player of all time was in order.

Yeah hell yeah it is. Happy Birthday, Bruuuuuuuuuce!

Saw him in New Orleans last year during the Sugar Bowl and he looks like he could still play. Happy 50 Bruce!

I met him on Bourbon Street in 99. He was great, took way more time than he needed to with a group of drunk college kids. I have a dark, blurry, crappy pic with him laying around somewhere.

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

He walked past me on the sideline at the FSU game last year, I should have gotten a picture. I heard some of the kids in the stands didn't know why we were saying "Bruuuuuuuuuuuce". IDIOTS!

Rip his freaking head off!

Almost met him golfing a few years back at Bide-a-wee in Portsmouth. Dre Bly and some local Steeler let my foursome start ahead of them while they waited for Bruce. We let them play through later that day, but Bruce never made it.
He's always been my favorite Hokie, favorite Bill, and favorite player. His sack total while playing DE in a 3-4 defense makes him the best defensive lineman EVER.
Happy Birthday Bruce!

"It's a Hokie takeover of The Hill ... in Charlottesville!" -Bill Roth

"That kid you're talking to right there, I think he played his nuts off! And you can quote me on that shit!" -Bud Foster

He frequents TOTS in the summers... Someone please find him and buy him a rail tonight!

UVA: Jefferson's biggest mistake

My dad played with him here at tech. Said he was the fastest guy on the team.. Would race the running backs at practice ran a 4.5 4.6 forty back when 4.6 was flying! My uncle played against him as a TE at VMI when that was our rival... He used to laugh about how bloody and bruised he was after that game. Endless to say Bruce is the man!
