The "OT: Paris Attacks" thread has been deleted. TKP is not a community to discuss politics online. This thread already feels too political, and that disappoints me.
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Stay strong and courageous, France. Fuck those cowards

VTGuitarMan:

Agree. I think we all feel for the people of France and we all would advocate compassion for them and justice against those who perpetrated the attacks. Nothing more needs to be said.

Please, all, do not let this devolve into nasty arguments that so often follow events like these. I would prefer if we did not post threads related to these kinds of events; there is little productive discussion to be had and any that is actually meaningful is being handled by people with security clearances. Just my preference. I would rather spend today watching football, tweeting #GameDay4Frank, and not worrying about what's going on in a hot-button topic here on TKP.

Good. That got way out of hand way too quickly. I had a part in it and for that I apologize.

Onward and upward

I'm not sure where the thread went, but it was going south when I peeked in this morning, and I'm guessing I contributed as much to the problem as the solution. If that's the case, I apologize as well.

This is a sports site. Anything we mention about Paris should be in support of the people affected by this tragedy.

My thoughts and best wishes go out to those affected. I hope we can bring those responsible to justice, and that we can bind together to limit the effects of terrorism.

I thought this was a classy gesture by Army today

That brings a tear to my eye. Oh I hope the good folks of France get a chance to see this.

It's a sad world we live in nowadays, praying for the families or the victims!

A neat story time:

In 1917 it was taking longer than hoped for to get units of the AEF ready to fight and across the Atlantic. So eventually General Pershing had them get 1 Regiment over.

So on July 4th, 1917 the 16th Infantry Regiment paraded through Paris to the large Picpus Cemetery. And there, formed up in front of the grave the Marquis de Lafayette an American Officer, a Lt. Col Stanton gave this speech:

America has joined forces with the Allied Powers, and what we have of blood and treasure are yours. Therefore it is that with loving pride we drape the colors in tribute of respect to this citizen of your great republic. And here and now, in the presence of the illustrious dead, we pledge our hearts and our honor in carrying this war to a successful issue. Lafayette, we are here.

I have never heard this of going to de Lafayette's grave. That is awesome! Isn't history great!

Back on point, my heart breaks for those families. Everyone please be vigilant, these cowards want to bring this to our homes.

in Fuller we trust

Thanks Joe.
