Best Moment of '15

We looked at head scratchers yesterday- today we look at the best moments

Favorite football game moment was when Sam Rogers made Apple dropped his jockstrap with his open field juke move.

The best moment all around was watching the jumbo tron right before the UNC game.

Beamer led his boys to the tunnel and it was the moment you really really realized that this was the last time Beamer would do so. The UNC game was great- it was almost like a spiritual experience with the highs and lows of the day.

Beamer being carried off the field at Lane North

Onward and upward

Best game: Beating UVA. Again. Watching the Frank/Shane/Bud celebration one more time.

Personal happy moment: Running into Frank at the Miami team hotel, him hugging my wife (they know each other), and him thanking us for traveling to support the Hokies. It was the right time for him to go, and I truly believe Fuente was the 100% best hire, but it won't be the same. Frank feels like family.

Our 4th down QB chasing the ball over his head, recovering in the end zone and then kicking it back to the 50.
Pele would have approved of that play.

That and of course, Rogers juking Apple out of his jockstrap. Not bad for a fullback.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

The end of this gif when Frank gives the finger to uva one last time

I can't unsee this.

Why would you want to?

Best moment on the field: The comeback against UNC in regulation, we could have let it get away from us but we fought til the final whistle, offense and defense, for Frank.

Best moment overall: (tie) Watching the halftime video messages when Deangelo Hall thanked Frank for being the father he never had and I lost it. The three way BeamerBud hug.

man...tough to pick one.

- Beginning of the OSU game. So much excitement and Sandman was great
- Taking the lead against OSU when Malleck caught the TD
- Beamer being carried off the field after the UNC game. Most stayed after the heart breaking loss just to see it.
- The INT to seal the win vs UVA and the coaches celebrating

Good picks. We really did start and end the season on extreme high points. OSU Sandman and beating UVA are definitely my top moments!

All the great moments from the LOLUVA game that everyone else already said.
Motley to Ford vs. NCSU
That feeling at halftime vs. anOSU

Non-game moment has to be during Tech Talk Live the night after CFB's retirement press conference, someone emailed in asking why we don't throw to the TE's more on first down and he paused for a moment and said, "Well, take it up with the next guy!"

Danny Coale is like 7-11, he's always open

I am guessing it will be on December 26th, Coach Beamers last victory and the full start of the new Regime...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:

Unmentioned yet: when they let Enter Sandman run into the lyrics at the end of the NCSU halftime. Whole crowd singing; it was awesome.

I was there signing as loud as I could. That was indeed awesome!

Ditto, that was fantastic. I didn't even know that my wife knew the lyrics to Enter Sandman, but apparently she does!

Ya done good, sir!

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Any video of this? Such a small thing but it instantly made me excited thinking about this.

Happy to say I was part of the choir on that one

The classy ending to Frank's tenure as head football coach. Nothing contentious surrounded his departure, which allowed him to be properly honored by both VT fans and all of college football.

The team being 3-5, mostly being left for the dead by us fans (myself included) but rallying to win their last 2 games on the road and scratching out a win against the Hoos in Frank's last home game to reach bowl eligibility.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Travon McMillan's run against NC State for the touchdown that sealed the game, and the celebration that followed where he was greeted by Trey Edmunds and JC Coleman, the two guys who gave up playing time to Travon. The family atmosphere that Frank Beamer has inspired was on full display during those 20 seconds.

A lot of people have mentioned some of my personal favorites, such as the interception and ensuing three way between Frank, Shane, and Bud.

A few others though:

The Walk before the UNC game was incredible. There were so many people with banners and signs. People were crying. It was surrreal. Also, being able to sign the giant banner they were going to give him, even though I'm pretty sure I made up a word when I wrote my message.

Isaiah Ford's three touchdown game vs. NC State. Actually, his whole season has been a joy to watch.

Even thought we lost, the Duke game was great. I didn't get to watch but I was following on my phone. I think any four overtime game is great. We were playing a team, who like ourselves, refused to give up, and that's pretty cool.

And finally, the month+ after Beamer's retirement announcement. The tributes from fans, players, other coaches, it was all so awesome to go through. This past month has forced you to realize and appreciate Frank Beamer's weight on the game in more ways than one. I just hope that one day I'm able to articulate to my kids his time at VT and how special it's been seeing him out.

Having all 3 Edmunds brothers on the kick coverage was really cool to see.

This might be my favorite moment.

I enjoyed the Purdue game from start to finish. One of the only games this season that was just plain fun to watch.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

Good call. We haven't had many of those recently.

What ya'll said.

For real though. The emotion of Frank at the end of the UVA game, Blacksburg the entire OSU game weekend, the emergence of a feature back. All of it.

"I'm too drunk to taste this chicken" - Colonel Sanders via Ricky Bobby

There are 3 plays that come to mind

The long TD pass Motley to Ford in the NCSTU game
The Motu strip and recovery for a TD against BC
The Sam Rogers TD catch from Brewer against OSU

Best non play moment was the group hug of Shane, Bud, and Frank at UVA.

I think as far as enjoyable games go, Boston College was my favorite that we won, and Duke was my favorite that we lost. UNC was great, but the refusal by the officials to actually review that non-catch, and subsequent quick flip over to USC/Oregon made me a bitter, bitter man.

That was certainly a non-review of the non-catch. Yep, I'm with you, that pissed me off!

Halftime against Ohio State, and all my in laws in my living room, with their heads down, all quiet munching on the turkey legs and buckeyes my wife made, (excellent dinner by the Mrs), and me and my daughters doing the Let's Go Hokies chant. Beautiful.

Not sure if food was that good, or your in laws are Buckeyes...?

Both, my in laws are Buckeyes, and the food was awesome. I married a great wife who knows how to throw down in the kitchen.

I look back on halftime of OSU game and kind of laugh/cry...

There were students in the bathroom in Lane screaming things like "you dont come into Lane and push us around" - all the adult fans looked at each other and were like... "umm i guess he's a freshmen"

I was finally able to return to Blacksburg this year for two games - Duke and UNC. You might call me a curse, because apparently I bring heartbreaking OT losses with me, but the atmospheres for those games were surreal and I will never forget them.

There were times, late in the Duke game, where I was reminded of vintage Lane Stadium. The place was rocking late in the 4th and during all the OT periods. Heck, I was in the West Stands and people were going nuts, much to my surprise.

And what can you say about the UNC game that hasn't been said already? To be there, for Coach's last game, was priceless. The build-up, the tributes, and adding my voice to the tens of thousands chanting "Beamer!" as he was carried off the field...that's what college football is all about. I choked up a couple of times that day, but my voice never failed me when I needed it.

"Exit light..."
