Supercell's last CoC update included a whole bunch of published stuff and a few unpublished things that impact gameplay about 1000% more than the published stuff.
They've virtually eliminated farming as we know it, and are forcing players to cook more expensive, slower to produce armies to keep pace. This means a need to gem more frequently, ultimately leading to...wait for it...more $$$ for Supercell!
An informal poll on the Supercell CoC forums indicated about 87 percent of Clanners want Supercell to undo the massive update. I've been discussing it a bit on the forums and the venom level is extreme. And yet, I've seen the same kind of reaction on a smaller scale anytime there's an update that disrupts gameplay.
So what say you - love it or shove it?

I never understood the anger when changes like this are made to any f2p game. They are made to maximize profit.
I have never played CoC, but people are aware these are "games" in the loosest possible terms and exist to suck money out of the "whales", right?
This had me incredibly confused for about 5-10 seconds. When I read the title I thought it had something to do with the College of Charleston or some similarly named school and began reading under that pretense.
Yeah, the changes are hard to work with and add a certain randomness to lots of things including attempting to level up items that require major amounts of gold or elixir.
Overall. much tougher to get by.
I have no idea what you guys are talking about.......seriously, i don't....
I thought this would have something to do with the Corps of Cadets.....
I assume this is some type of Dungeons and Dragons type game based on what Egbert said, though...
We have CoC threads here every six months or so...
While I don't play, I think it's cool TKP has groups of people doing things like this. Keep it up!
Wait is CoC clash of clans?
Yesssss the common nomenclature.
I edited to spell it out in the title.
Posts like these need "Extremely Off Topic" in their titles.
Not when posted in the Off Topic forum!
I was the biggest farmer, but I only had one problem with the update - the confusion surrounding the personal break, which ended up screwing me during war. They've added the countdown info on the shield, so I can at least be aware of what is going on.
Everything else seems to more about balancing issues, which Supercell normally does a good job of correcting. I also don't see how the update is actually increasing gemming. I have to use gems every once and while to speed up spells and armies mostly to get war attacks in on time - and they decreased the minimum time to 1 hour and 5 gems, which will result in me using less gems over time.
I think too many people are complaining and not actually giving the game a chance. Most of my clanmates were pretty upset about not being able to farm, but they're finding raiding to be much more lucrative then it's ever been.
It all depends on how you farmed prior to the update. Some farm with power armies. Most do not. They've essentially eliminated collector farming for most. I dropped to Silver yesterday and found some collectors there. In Gold and above they are rare.
The TH was changed two ways - eliminating the shield and increasing the storage. That means it must be protected. No more farming bases.
The update was clearly designed to convert collector farmers into power farmers. Your comments indicate you both farm and war. Not everyone does that. Most are content to farm at their own pace and do so economically. Now they must spend twice as much to farm tougher bases, and do so less frequently - unless they gem. Ding ding ding.
They are trying to bring more people into the 'top 20 percenters' who spend a lot of money to increase the pace of base development.
I understand at the change was drastic for many. But it certainly makes sense. According to one of the developers, TH snipes were over 80% of attacks. (I've had my townhall outside my base since th6 probably).
I've typically used giants+wbs+healer+barbs+archers for my loot raids. I wouldn't consider that a power army, but it's certainly more expensive than throwing all barbs, archers, and gobs. I can still effectively use that army after the update. The biggest difference I've seen is the amount of loot available. It used to be really difficult to find 200k+ (I'm a TH9 now in crystal league). Now that's available on almost every other base, and you can frequently find 400k+ without much effort. So while it's true that people have to spend more resources to make armies, they should be winning a lot more loot when they do attack.
I did notice a ton of people dropping trophies - since I'm upgrading walls now, almost 30 attacks in a row were just dropping.
Something I forgot to mention on original post regarding War Battle Time - I think they should decrease the time back down to the original 3 mins for townhalls 1-7, maybe 3:15 for 8 & 9, and 3:30 for 10 & 11.
I prefer to have sex.
It's his hobby dude. No need to cheap shot him.

Really you can't just let us enjoy our harmless game play you have to try and make jokes?
You SAY that, but .....
He didn't say with what.
Though I guess that question kind of answers itself...
I'm so glad I learned not to play addictive grinding games back when they only cost a monthly fee.
The game is free along with many Apple Store games. People just spent ALOT of money to get to the top fast, especially people in Asia.
Most pay-to-win games are free to download.
I haven't spent a dime yet am pretty high in the clan. I don't know many TKPers who have paid out.
I paid some just because I played a long time and wanted to pay something for their time to develop it. It's only fair. I'm not going to pay much.
time is money, man. With games like CoC, I have to draw the line when I find myself spending more time playing than I would any other leisure activity. What makes these games awesome is the little trail of crumbs they lay that keep you play obsessively. What sucks about these games is the fact that they're only fun if you play them obsessively. Well, that and the fact that pay-to-players will always kick your butt.
TH9 was the breaking point for me. I just can't keep up with the DE requirements. I scaled my playing back around mid-TH9.
My point was that I'm glad I learned my lesson back when I could only spend $15 or so on these games every month in order to have access to everything. Nowadays I'm sure I'd spend more than that if I let myself play them.
Either way, I'm mostly glad that I got tired of treadmill games that keep going and going without any clear end point. They're just not for me.
The changes don't bother me. My village still gets burned to the ground regularly, like before. I still suck at attacking other villages, like before. Status quo, really.
I get what supercell was trying to do with the update and I thought it would be good, but at least at as fairly new town hall 10, its become impossible to farm elixir. Its hard to build up elixir for what things cost at th10. Once I reach the point about 3.5 million in storage I get raided by a max th10 or 11, even if I had almost no gold or dark elixir. . The reverse is not true as I had 4 mil in gold and plenty of dark elixir for 3 or 4 days and never got raided. This tells me that elixir is truly hard to come by at least at this level.
My focus right now is to try and farm gold and get my defense upgraded first, while dumping any excess elixir into walls. This will probably mean my lab will sit idle quite a bit now.
The optimist in me says that they underestimated the impact the update would have on elixir at least at the higher levels and that they will do something to pump more elixir into the game in a future update. The cynic on me says this was intentional in order get people to gem more.
Free game to kill time. Never spent a dime on it or ever will. If you are one of the people who are really into the game I can understand why you don't like the update. It did change the game play. I still suck at it and I don't really care. Gives me something to do while sitting on the porcelain throne.
CoC is designed to be a sales funnel. No need to buy anything until TH7 or later. TH8 was the first level I really noticed the impact of doubled costs and build times. At TH9 the funnel is pretty narrow - either gem farming to keep up with the upgrade pace or check out.
I know players who spend hundreds monthly on building, upgrading and research. I've spent maybe 50 bucks over the past year.
I really can't wrap my head around spending hundreds of dollars on a game. I understand everyone has different hobbies but I think this is more of an addiction.
how many VT football games have you attended? How much do you pay for cable to watch games on TV? The way I see it, you're (probably) spending hundreds of dollars on a game but you're not even playing it. You're (probably) spending hundreds of dollars to watch other people play a game. Do you consider your Hokie fandom to be an addiction?
This.
Entertainment is entertainment, and we all invest a healthy (or unhealthy) portion of our time and disposable income on it in some form or another. I agree, there are gamers who have crossed into addiction territory. And there are Hokie fans who have done the same.
Hell yes it is an addiction! My wife reminds me I have a problem all the time. And as any addict would I'm going to defend my addiction by justifying it.
1- My addiction is social so its not a "problem".
2- The money I spend on my addiction goes to the Blacksburg and VT communities so I'm really giving back.
One gem booster for xmas.
I'm not a big fan of the update. I am at TH9 and it makes it very difficult to save up. Part of the update was to allow a higher % of resources available for the raider I believe. I lost 300k elixer when I only had 1.8m. It is nearly impossible to save enough to research stuff. I doubt they will change it because people will buy more gems for the extra resources and stuff like that. I haven't spent a penny on the game and enjoy it. I also have quite a bit of sex with my woman who also plays CoC.
I'm fine with the update. I'm TH9 and have been busy trying to upgrade everything to max before TH10. This would require bouts of gem farming and the shield/boosting for a week. I'm loving the 1 gem boost right now.
Since the update I don't feel as if I'm losing as much loot. Part of it is because reloading xbows and traps are much cheaper. Nothing like being raided for 200k only to then pay another 100k in repairs. So I've been able to upgrade to black walls at least twice as fast.
I would say that the upgrade has removed some frustration on my part and has kept me around longer. Was close to checking out there, since I don't want to be constantly playing. I like to log in, collect, raid, upgrade, and log out.
As a side note, love all the pointless comments in this thread. If you didn't know what thread was and it didn't interest you, what was the point of posting a comment saying so?
