Live 5 minutes from their campus, if he gets the job I might have to actually go to a game to watch their OL/TE play.

The offensive play calling is still sure to make you cringe

I always thought he would make a good head coach with the way he relates to the players.

Hmmm where my sister got her Master's degree. Just can't escape this guy! Cookeville is a nice town though.

All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world
So there was only one thing that I could do
Was ding a ding, dang my dang a long ling long....

Good for Stiney, I hope he gets the job. Regardless of what you thought of him as an OC, he is 200% Hokie and he deserves nothing but support from Hokie Nation. I think he would do well at Tennessee Tech.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

I saw the word Tennessee and cringed at first. But Tennessee Tech is all good though! It's a nice town! Best of luck to Stiney!

I hope he gets the job and does very well there. It would be nice to see the Beamer coaching tree start to expand now.

I wish him nothing but the best. Lest we forget, his love of VT and loyalty to the program and Frank Beamer allowed him to swallow his pride, accept a demotion and still work hard for his successor. That is really hard on a person and showed his good character. I hope he gets the job. Good Luck Coach Stinespring.

Go Hokies!

For a second, I thought there was a serious chance he'd be coaching the Vols in Bristol...

Oh well

i had to do a double take as well

tyrod did it mikey! tyrod did it!

I hope he does well post-VT. It was never his fault that Frank left him in the OC position way longer than he should have, and speaks tons about his character that he stayed with the program after stepping down as OC. I'm not sure whether the better career path for him would be head coach of a DIII school or a TE coach at a P5, though. He's obviously got a knack for turning out great TEs, and I'd bet the money's better as a position coach at a P5.

If he gets the FCS HC job and then does well, he could easily be a Group of 5 coach in a few years.

C'mon man! The creator of FBS (my hero) knows better. Bryan Stinespring did a lot of damage to this program while Beamer turned a blind eye to his incompetence. Today is a day to celebrate Beamer's accomplishments, but also a day to exhale because Stinespring will FINALLY be gone!!!

Did you register on TKP just to bash Stinespring? He was over his head as an offensive coordinator, but he was a good position coach and a fantastic recruiter. Don't let prejudice blind you to objective data, he brought more future NFL draft picks to VT than any other coach over the last 10 years. Sure, our offense wasn't great when he was OC, but that's no reason to ignore his positive contributions and insult a man who has helped the Hokies in many ways.

Show some class, man.

Deposit whiskey, receive wisdom.

Well - he may have a chance to be JMU's head coach. His incredible offense did produce a whopping 18 points against the Dukes in 2010...

My family is from Cookeville and Mom is a graduate. Good town, good school, good luck Stiney! Will definitely catch a game if he ends up there.

I met him at Outback with TT after the VA game in 2008. He was very gracious to my inebriated wife and took pics with her. I was just impressed with how friendly he was when he clearly just wanted to eat dinner with TT and his wife. I wish him the best and hope he get the shot he wants!

I hope this comes off as appropriate...
but I think I like your wife....

She has been quite the party flavor (intentional) which is why I have a lot of scars. I am Gladiator! Tee hee

Aw, too bad. I was hoping he'd be our recruiting coordinator

He is too good of a coach to just be a RC

I loathed him as an OC, but love him as a TE coach & RC.

I'd like him to get his shot, but honestly, I don't know that he has what it takes to make the kinds of decisions that make people unhappy.

He just strikes me as too nice to be a good head coach.

Oh well, I think the new blood on offense is much needed/long overdue. There are others on the face of this beautiful Earth that are capable of recruiting and coaching TEs.
