Former Hokies' offensive line coach Stacy Searels has landed on his feet. He'll join Mark Richt's new staff at Miami.
I misspelled Searels. @CanesFootball is replacing longtime OL coach Kehoe with Stacy Searels of VT— Susan Miller Degnan (@smillerdegnan) January 3, 2016
He was Georgia's offensive line coach under Richt from 2007-09, and its offensive line coach and running game coordinator in 2010.

Yikes... But good for him to find a great job.
Hate playing against former coaches.
Has this ever happened to us before?
Kevin Sherman vs Pitt this year I think.
Danny Pearman at Clemson.
He's the one coach that VT didn't retain but I thought they might have.
Stunt against Miami on every single passing down.
Oooh boy... Mark Richt making moves... also hired Manny Diaz as DC. Could Da' U be back?
No. "Back" for Miami means competing for, and winning national championships. If he couldn't get it done at UGa with far superior resources and equal or better talent, then he won't get it done at Miami. However, he will definitely turn them into a perennial top 25 team that will be a tough out for any other ACC team.
*It's always "BAK" when referring to da U
Also, "bak" is used as a verb.
Example "We bak!"
As an IT guy I see .bak quite often
Never have been that impressed with Diaz. His defenses were terrible Texas and just mediocre at Miss State.
Agreed
Nope
I am not sold on Vice yet, but I am not overly upset about this. Poor recruiter when the players weren't gift-wrapped for him like at Georgia and Texas. He didn't move the needle with any top recruits except for Austin Clark. Every single player who contributed on offensive line was recruited by Newsome, Grimes (Gallo) or was a defensive player converted. His refusal to put Teller in the lineup in 2014 and herky jerking him around in 2015 never sat well with me. Conte playing over Osterloh late in the season was a suspect decision. He never succeeded in making the offensive line a more aggressive, downhill running group. The running game did improve, even though it featured more outside stretch plays. From a technique standpoint, the 2013 group was more fundamentally sound... the 2015 group more physical.
Positives were the improvement in Nijman, Osterloh, and Hansen (who was EXCELLENT at the end of the year minus one pass protection bust a game.) The running game improved, although it was inconsistent, especially when defenses loaded up against it. I am not sure if that blame falls on the playcalling (Loeffler) or technique (Searels.) I would argue that against Tulsa, a bunch of that falls on Lefty.
I know of one particular starting OL that couldn't stand having him as a coach. This doesn't bother me much.
Do tell....
I bet it was Teller, he was rarely allowed to talk to the media and from what he says the coach jumped on him every time he didn't pancake someone.
I'm not sure JMac was a huge fan, either...
Lets just say that whole promotion/demotion stuff really didn't have much merit behind it.
That hits on my main concern with Searels going to Miami. He was a decent/good OL recruiter for us, but in Miami he's going to be in another situation where top recruits will be gift-wrapped for him, and he's shown that he can close in that kind of situation. So he's going to recruit well. For our rival. No bueno.
Miami will recruit well regardless of who their coaching staff is
was that intentional?
no it was a casualty of multitasking
I liked him, but hopefully I'll like Fuente's crew more.
Kehoe gone from Miami? That's heartbreaking, he's been the man down there for as long as I've been alive, including his time as a student and player. Wish the best for him
If we're going to lose a position coach to a division rival, I prefer it to be when we're completely revamping our entire offense. No trade secrets revealed to the Third Richt.
Not sure how much merit there is to this, but during the Memphis bowl game one of the announcers said there were only two different pass protections in the Memphis offense. What does that mean for our offense moving forward? Is two heavily practiced protections better than having multiple sets or does this mean there is likely a way to beat our two protections consistently?
Watch how quickly the ball gets where it's going in Fuente's offense. I'd imagine perfecting two protections gets the job done.
Yep, for basic function that makes sense. I am curious as to how often they threw the deep ball. I hope they still find ways to use it effectively or we will be limiting some of our talent like Ford.
I wouldn't be too worried about Ford. He gets a deep ball every now and then but a majority of his yardage comes on 10-15 yard back shoulder comebacks and wide receiver screens.
I agree, also I hope I am not coming across as being negative. I am more curious than worried.
Yep... if VT's QB can throw accurate deep posts and back shoulder throws to Brewer's knack for the out, dig, and fade, Ford's production will only increase.
There is a great and terrible beauty to the phrase 'Third Richt'
Off topic but Isaiah McKenzie who VT was trying to get in the 2014 recruiting class is going to be transferring to Miami possibly, if he does he would have to sit out a year but Richt will have them sitting pretty, hopefully Fuente can do the same for VT! Excited for VT and Miami to both be back on the map I hope, the ACC could gain a lot of credibility in the next few years =D something I would not be opposed to.
He already changed his Twitter info.
I noticed that as I unfollowed him.
